Chapter 67: Exposed?1
Qin Ruyan hummed in response, taking a sip of her strawberry milkshake before picking up a steamed dumpling with her chopsticks.
Lu Jingchen watched her eat without teasing her, sitting beside her with his phone in hand. He would glance up at her from time to time, then occasionally look down at his phone, tapping away.
She ate quickly, putting down her chopsticks after less than ten minutes. Seeing her finish, Lu Jingchen finally put down his phone.
“Finished? Don’t you want to eat a little more?”
She shook her head. “I can’t eat anymore.”
Lu Jingchen looked at her, his gaze lingering on her waist for a moment. Remembering how he could completely control her with just two hands, he chuckled. “Madam is too thin, and your stamina isn’t very good.”
Qin Ruyan paused mid-way through grabbing her phone. She looked up, giving him a cold and indifferent glance. Her stamina wasn’t good?
She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but remembering his shameless behavior in certain areas, she shut it again.
“I have to go out around four.” Cheng Yubai had originally invited her to meet at the Peking University Medical Laboratory, but now that Lu Jingchen was going with her, she had to choose a different location.
Lu Jingchen nodded. He took their bowls and chopsticks into the kitchen, putting them in the dishwasher before washing his hands and coming back out.
He pulled her onto the sofa, wrapping his arm around her waist. “Can I go with you?”
He was quite curious about her little secret.
Qin Ruyan nodded. “Sure, I promised you before.”
Lu Jingchen smiled, reaching out to press on her waist. Qin Ruyan turned her head vigilantly, her eyes cold and expressionless as she looked at him.
Lu Jingchen sighed helplessly, “Didn’t you say your waist ached? I’ll give you a massage, it’ll feel better. Madam, you look at me like I’m some kind of lecherous beast.”
Qin Ruyan was exasperated. “Your self-awareness is quite impressive.”
Lu Jingchen nodded in realization, leaning down to whisper in her ear, “Well, I’m a gentleman now, but I’ll be a beast tonight?”
Qin Ruyan ignored him. She realized that the more you paid attention to Lu Jingchen, the more he would push his luck. Sometimes, silence was the best approach.
They sat like this for a while, the appointed time drawing near.
Qin Ruyan took his hand. “I have to leave.”
Lu Jingchen hummed, pulling her to her feet. “Let’s go change our clothes and then we’ll head out.”
Qin Ruyan nodded. They went back to the bedroom, changed their clothes, and then left.
“Madam, when are you free? Let’s go look at our wedding house?” Lu Jingchen took her hand, his fingers slipping between hers, intertwining their fingers.
She turned her head to look at him. The elevator hadn’t arrived yet, and they were standing in the hallway where the light wasn’t very bright, but she could still see the captivating color in his eyes. He was always smiling faintly, his brows gentle as he looked at her.
“Can’t we just stay here?” she asked, regaining her composure. They had been living here for a while, and she thought the location and everything else were great, and it was convenient to go out.
Lu Jingchen furrowed his brows, “We can stay here, but we still need to prepare a wedding house. This place isn’t big enough, what will we do when we have kids?”
Qin Ruyan blushed, her eyelashes drooping. Then, she suddenly thought of something, looked up at him with a serious expression.
“I might not be planning to have kids anytime soon.” She hadn’t resolved her health issues yet and didn’t dare to have children.
Lu Jingchen raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
They had been together for a while, and he had been taking precautions. After all, they had only been married for a short time, and he wanted to enjoy their time as a couple for a few more years. But hearing her say it now, he was a little bothered.
“Alright, give me a heads-up when Mrs. Lu feels ready to have kids?” He didn’t say much, as he hadn’t planned on having children now either.
Qin Ruyan nodded.
He then mentioned, “So, when is Mrs. Lu free to look at wedding houses?”
She thought for a moment before saying, “Next weekend?”
He was busy with work, and she didn’t want to interrupt his weekdays.
Lu Jingchen nodded. The elevator arrived at this moment, and he pulled her in, pressing the button for the basement floor. Then, he said casually, “What about the wedding? I’m good to go, it mainly depends on your schedule.” They had gotten their marriage certificate but hadn’t held a wedding yet. Most people didn’t know he was married, and he felt it was necessary to have a wedding to inform everyone that he was a married man.
Qin Ruyan pursed her lips, “Later, maybe? After the studio gets off the ground, okay?”
If everyone knew she was married to him, her clothing store business would definitely boom. But she wanted to prove herself, that she could stand beside him as an equal.
Lu Jingchen pondered for a moment, guessing her thoughts. He pulled her into his arms and chuckled softly, “I have two friends, they’re like younger brothers, we grew up together. They haven’t met you yet. When is Mrs. Lu free, we’ll have a get-together?”
His words implied that he agreed to postpone the wedding. Qin Ruyan nodded, he was considerate of her, and she naturally had to consider his feelings as well. “Next weekend, after we look at the wedding house, okay?”
Lu Jingchen smiled and said, “Okay.”
They reached the basement and got into the car. Qin Ruyan opened a navigation app on her phone.
Lu Jingchen glanced at the address, a coffee shop near Beijing University?
His eyes flickered, but he didn’t say anything, starting the car.
Forty minutes later, they arrived at the place Qin Ruyan and Cheng Yubai had agreed upon. They parked the car, locked it, and she held his hand as they walked inside.
