Chapter 69: Studio Opening 1

Lu Jingchen thought she was quite good at making up stories. After she said that, it actually made sense.

“I don’t really know how to make spicy crayfish, can we just buy them from outside?” He started the car as the light turned green.

Lu Jingchen’s long, slender eyelashes were visible from Qin Ruyan’s angle as his knuckles gripped the steering wheel. She couldn’t help but sigh in her heart, she really was a face-value person.

Forty minutes later.

The car stopped in the underground parking garage.

They got out of the car, Lu Jingchen locked the door, held her hand with one hand, and sent messages with the other.

When they reached the elevator entrance, he pressed the up button and then turned to look at her.

“I ordered spicy crayfish and steamed sea bass from the hotel. I checked and it seems the market isn’t selling live sea bass right now, so will this do?”

The elevator arrived just then, he held her hand and walked in. Qin Ruyan nodded.

“Isn’t Auntie coming over recently?”

She hadn’t seen her since she moved in. She went back to her uncle’s place during his business trip and didn’t stay at Yujingyuan, so she didn’t see the housekeeper.

Lu Jingchen nodded, “I gave Auntie a break. We’ll let her come over after we look at the wedding house and move in.”

She hummed in response and added, “Then who’s cooking during this time?”

Lu Jingchen looked at her with a playful smile, “Naturally, I’ll be cooking. But I have something to do in a few days, I have to go on a business trip. Should I have the hotel deliver food then?”

“No need to be so troublesome, I can cook myself.” The elevator reached their floor just then, and they walked out.

Qin Ruyan looked at the messages on her phone and then looked up at Lu Jingchen.

“The studio can open in a few days. The clothes are all done with the designs I submitted earlier. The new girl at the studio is pretty capable. I was thinking of finding a factory, but I was worried about the quality.”

Lu Jingchen nodded, “I’ll ask Chen Zhong to keep an eye out for clothing factories in the capital?”

Qin Ruyan thought for a moment, her customer base was mainly young people, and her prices weren’t cheap either. She shook her head.

“I’ll think about it again. Yaoyao also invested, and I have to consider her customer base as well. For now, I plan to do pure handmade.”

Lu Jingchen didn’t say anything, he reached out and touched her hair, “Do whatever you want, don’t worry about anything else.”

Qin Ruyan nodded, the elevator just reached their floor. They walked out together, Lu Jingchen opened the door, changed his shoes, went to the kitchen to wash his hands, and then poured a cup of hot water for her.

“Sit down for a bit, the food will be here in another ten minutes.”

Qin Ruyan hummed in response, took the cup, took a sip, added some honey, it was quite sweet.

She looked up at Lu Jingchen, “You sit down too, don’t stand.”

Lu Jingchen smiled and sat down next to her, saying nothing.

Twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang.

Lu Jingchen got up to open the door.

The hotel staff delivered the food, the person kept their eyes lowered, not daring to look up.

Lu Jingchen reached out to take it, thanked him, and closed the door.

Outside, the staff member took a deep breath. He was truly afraid to even breathe in front of Lu Boss, afraid of suffocating.

Lu Jingchen took the food box and placed it on the table. He opened it, then put on disposable gloves and peeled the crayfish for her.

Qin Ruyan walked over and reached for the gloves, but he stopped her.

“Just go to the kitchen and get the bowls and chopsticks.”

Qin Ruyan hummed in response and turned to go to the kitchen, she took two sets of bowls and chopsticks. When she came out, Lu Jingchen had already peeled a small dish of shrimp.

He took off his gloves and raised his chin, looking at her. “Try it?”

Qin Ruyan sat down on the stool, picked up her chopsticks and put a shrimp in her mouth. She always ate slowly.

Lu Jingchen put a glass of water next to her.

She picked up the glass and took a sip, “It’s good, you eat too.”

She used her chopsticks to put a few shrimp in his bowl.

Lu Jingchen smiled and pulled out a chair to sit opposite her.

He pushed the steamed perch towards her again. Qin Ruyan raised her eyes and glanced at him.

He didn’t seem the least bit flustered. “I remember you said to have some spicy and some bland food, a mix so you won’t get too much heat.”

Qin Ruyan hummed in response. She ate some more perch. Compared to the spicy crayfish, the flavor was a bit too bland. But she sometimes got ulcers and didn’t dare eat too much spicy food, so she ate another two chopsticks of fish.

Lu Jingchen sat opposite her, waiting for her to finish eating before putting down his chopsticks.

“Do you want some more water?”

He thought the food was a bit heavy and it was making him feel a bit uncomfortable.

Qin Ruyan shook her head. “I’ve already had four glasses of water. I’m fine.”

He didn’t force her, stood up and started clearing the table. Qin Ruyan followed behind him. When he walked into the kitchen, he turned and looked at her.

“Go wash up.”

She touched her nose and hummed in response. She originally wanted to help, but they had a dishwasher.

Qin Ruyan turned and walked into the bedroom, grabbed her pajamas, and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

She had something else to do later, so she tied her hair up with a hair towel. Her smooth forehead was revealed. When she came out, Lu Jingchen was in the living room. She walked over to him.

“Are you using the study?”

Lu Jingchen looked up, glanced at her, and smiled. “Not for now.”

He didn’t have much going on today. The important things were all next week. He was still quite free for the next two days.

Qin Ruyan hummed. “I’ll use the study to reply to an email from my teacher.”

The studio was opening in three days. Although she didn’t plan to invite her teacher, she still had to tell Jennifer. After all, she didn’t have the guts or the face to have the founder of the Xiang family open her studio.

Lu Jingchen nodded.

She turned and walked into the study, sat down at the desk, and turned on the computer.

Lu Jingchen’s computer was pretty fast, booting up in just a few seconds.

She checked the time. It wasn’t midnight yet on her teacher’s side, so she should still be awake.

She hesitated for a moment before clicking on video call. After ten seconds, the other side connected.

“Xiao Yan?” A woman in her fifties appeared on the computer screen. Her eyebrows and eyes were delicate, her facial features were sharp, and the slightly upturned corners of her eyes held an undeniable aura. Time seemed to be particularly kind to her, leaving no trace on her face.

“Teacher, good evening.”

She sat up straight, smiling and greeting the woman on the other side.

Jennifer had just gotten home and washed up. She had attended a dinner party today and was a bit tired when she got home. She was planning to take a shower and go to sleep, but unexpectedly received a video call from Qin Ruyan.

“Have you adapted to life back in China? Or are you planning to come back to see your teacher?”

Last time, Qin Ruyan sent her some clothes from her new clothing studio. She was quite satisfied. Although Qin Ruyan wasn’t staying by her side, her skills were still there.

Qin Ruyan smiled slightly. “After my clothing studio opens and wins an award, I’ll come see you.”

Her words implied that she wasn’t coming back. Jennifer didn’t force her. “When is the opening? Do you need me to come over?”

Qin Ruyan waved her hand. “It’s in three days. I can’t trouble you, teacher. I just wanted to report to you and put your mind at ease.”

When she returned to China, Jennifer had repeatedly told her not to give up on fashion design. She didn’t want to disappoint her teacher. During her years abroad, Jennifer had helped her a lot.

Jennifer chuckled upon hearing this. “Alright, teacher won’t go. Come see me after you win an award. But I still have to prepare a gift for your opening.”

Jennifer was at this age without children, alone.

When she was young, she had also met and known a lover, but due to family reasons, they parted ways in the end.
