Chapter 8: A Chance Encounter 2
After her brother left, Zhang Qiyao immediately called Qin Ruyan.
Qin Ruyan had dinner with her uncle and aunt, packed her luggage, and took a shower.
She had just finished drying her hair and hadn’t started applying skincare when she received a call from Zhang Qiyao.
“Ruyan, have you eaten? I didn’t have dinner today, can you come out and have dinner with me?”
Qin Ruyan glanced at the time, it was only 8:30.
She didn’t really want to go out, but Zhang Qiyao had come to pick her up today, and their relationship had improved a lot.
In Zhang Qiyao’s words, they were now best friends.
She readily agreed.
She casually applied some skincare and lipstick before getting ready to go out.
As she went downstairs, Qin Chaoyang and the others were in the living room. Seeing her descend, they quickly pulled her to sit down and watch TV.
Qin Ruyan explained, “Uncle, I have a friend who hasn’t eaten yet, and she’s asking me out now.”
Qin Chaoyang furrowed his brows and asked with concern, “Friend? Did you just meet her after you came back? Male or female? Is she reliable?”
Qin Ruyan smiled, “It’s a classmate from high school, you should remember her because you attended my parent-teacher meeting back then. It’s a girl.”
Qin Chaoyang was relieved.
“Then go ahead, Ruyan, come back early.”
Qin Ruyan nodded, greeted Shen Meng, and went out.
Behind her, Shen Meng smiled.
“Look at you, so nervous. Ruyan is 24 years old, you still treat her like a child. This is not the old days, there’s no curfew anymore.”
Qin Chaoyang pulled his wife to sit down.
“I’m just afraid that she’s just back, unfamiliar with the place, and might be tricked by people outside.”
He had to take good care of his niece.
Shen Meng smiled, “I know you love Ruyan, but she’s a grown-up now, you can’t keep treating her like a child.”
Qin Chaoyang scratched his head, “Then you should pay more attention to her, Ruyan is older now, after all, she’s a girl, some things might not be convenient for her to tell me, she can only tell you, her aunt.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll do whatever you say. I will definitely take good care of the little princess of the Qin family.”
The couple exchanged smiles.
Qin Ruyan hailed a taxi to Xifu.
Zhang Qiyao didn’t dare to take her anywhere else.
Everyone in Xifu knew her. Even if she got drunk today, she would be safe, so she booked a table there.
She sent Qin Ruyan a WeChat message when she was about to arrive. She walked out of the private room to greet her when her brother called again.
Zhang Qiyao felt a little overwhelmed. She turned around and went into the bathroom inside the private room.
“Brother?”
Lu Jingchen held the phone in his hand, his eyes fixed on the figure getting out of the taxi.
He repeated it into the phone.
“Where are you?”
“I’m at Xifu, having dinner with a friend. I just got back from overseas today.”
Zhang Qiyao couldn’t see her brother’s expression through the phone, but she was naturally afraid to lie to him.
“Which private room?”
Lu Jingchen got out of the car, closed the door, and headed towards Xifu.
Zhang Qiyao honestly told him, “It’s Tianque.”
The next second, the phone was hung up.
Zhang Qiyao rubbed her face, walked out of the bathroom, and headed towards the private room. Before she even reached the entrance of the restaurant, she saw Qin Ruyan’s figure.
She waved with a smile.
“Yanyan!”
Qin Ruyan’s eyes lit up when she saw her and walked towards her.
“Sorry, did you wait long?”
She had been messing around for a while before going out when Zhang Qiyao called, and the road was congested, delaying her quite a bit.
Zhang Qiyao waved her hand, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
She pulled Qin Ruyan towards the inside.
