Chapter 28 : Weird Noise
Qin Xiaoting looked at her with her big, blinking eyes. This was the chicken she had raised in the space, and she had added spiritual spring water while marinating it. Knowing that Jiang Li looked weak, she thought it would be a good idea to nourish her with it.
“Then I can’t take it from you for free. The chicken is free, but the spices will cost money,” Jiang Li said, pulling out five dollars and placing them into Qin Xiaoting’s hand.
“No! If you don’t take it, you don’t treat me as a sister!” Qin Xiaoting was adamant, so Jiang Li had no choice but to accept it, thinking she would return the favor in the future.
As it was getting dark, Qin Xiaoting reluctantly hugged Jiang Li and walked her to the intersection with a flashlight. “It would be great if we could live together. I really don’t want to live with these annoying people.”
“Let’s take a day off tomorrow and go to the supply and marketing cooperative. I’m thinking about starting a small business, selling braised meat and other things. Do you think it’s possible?” Qin Xiaoting asked.
“Let’s take a look first. How will you know if you don’t try?” Jiang Li encouraged her, affirming Qin Xiaoting’s idea.
She couldn’t help but admire Qin Xiaoting, who seemed to be the chosen heroine of rebirth. The spiritual spring space had maximized her cooking skills. She was both diligent and talented.
Jiang Li felt so envious that she almost cried.
Oh my God, did I choose the wrong person to travel through time?
“Lizi!”
A beam of flashlight illuminated the ground under Jiang Li’s feet. A familiar low voice sounded in front of them. Qi Shaoqiang was waiting by the side of the road, pushing his bicycle.
Qin Xiaoting’s hands tightened, and her heart began to pound.
Sensing the change, Jiang Li turned to look at Qin Xiaoting. It was dark, but the excitement on Qin Xiaoting’s face was still clearly visible.
“Lizi, who is this?” Qin Xiaoting asked eagerly.
Jiang Li’s heart sank. Qi Shaoqiang looked at her, waiting for her to introduce him.
“This is my boyfriend, Qi Shaoqiang, and this is the educated youth from the village, Qin Xiaoting,” Jiang Li introduced while observing Qin Xiaoting’s expression.
Qin Xiaoting’s excitement didn’t diminish, but instead grew. She quickly took two steps forward and asked, “Comrade Qi Shaoqiang, do you know Liu Lixin?”
Qi Shaoqiang glanced at Jiang Li, puzzled. “I know her. He’s from our village, and I grew up with him.”
Qin Xiaoting clapped her hands. “It’s true!”
Jiang Li was even more confused. “Who is Liu Lixin? Xiaoting, how do you know him?”
Qin Xiaoting pushed Jiang Li away and said, “I’ll tell you tomorrow. You two can go now. I won’t be a light bulb anymore.”
“Lizi, I’ll wait for you under the big locust tree at the entrance of the village tomorrow.”
Jiang Li was pushed a couple of steps forward. Qi Shaoqiang quickly followed and stuffed a paper bag into her arms.
“Lizi, our factory has just launched a new batch of biscuits. I heard from the female colleagues that they’re all saying they’re good, so I bought two kilograms for you.”
A faint aroma of milk filled the air. Jiang Li hadn’t had enough for dinner, so she unceremoniously opened the oil paper and tasted a piece. It was fluffy, crispy, and melted in her mouth.
“It’s delicious, you should try it too!”
Jiang Li fed the biscuit to Qi Shaoqiang’s mouth. Qi Shaoqiang was stunned for a moment, then followed Jiang Li’s hand and took a light bite. His face immediately turned red.
Jiang Li, oblivious, continued walking forward and chatted about the village gossip.
“Something big happened in our village. Jiang Hongmei and Zhuang Guoliang fell in love, and now they seem to be getting married!”
Qi Shaoqiang’s mind was filled with thoughts of the girl’s smooth, tender palms, and he responded to Jiang Li’s words mechanically.
Jiang Hongmei and others were just strangers to him whom he had met once.
He didn’t care.
“Why did Qin Xiaoting suddenly ask about your childhood friend? Do they know each other?”
“I don’t know. Maybe I have seen him. After all, the two battalions are not far from each other.”
Jiang Li munched on the biscuits with a crunching sound. Before she reached the Jiang family’s door, the paper bag in her hand was empty.
“You have something on your mouth.”
Qi Shaoqiang took out a handkerchief that he had washed at work and gently wiped the pink corners of Jiang Li’s lips. His rough fingertips brushed across her soft lips, and both of them blushed.
Jiang Changyi didn’t go to work this afternoon, not only because Old Mrs. Zhou fainted and Wang Juhua was in a bad mood and refused to get up, but also because he was too embarrassed to go to work.
An unmarried girl was seen in bed with a man by the whole village. After this incident, he could never hold his head up in the village again.
Marry her off quickly. Jiang Hongmei is not allowed to go home for the next two years. Wait until things have calmed down a bit.
Jiang Changyi’s brows were tightly knitted, his face full of sorrow.
Hearing voices coming from the front, he looked over and saw from afar a man and a woman standing very close to each other under a tree.
“Shaoqiang, Lizi, what are you doing?”
Putting out the pipe in his hand, Jiang Changyi pretended to be calm and greeted Qi Shaoqiang, feeling extremely excited.
I didn’t expect these two people to really hook up. The Jiang family is going to be prosperous.
Jiang Changyi came forward with a warm attitude. “Shaoqiang, why are you here so late? Come on, come in and sit down.”
Because of Jiang Li’s incident, Qi Shaoqiang had no good feelings towards Jiang Changyi’s family, so he refused without giving them any face.
He turned to Jiang Li and said, “Lizi, remember to come to the factory to find me when you get to the supply and marketing cooperative tomorrow. The cafeteria made braised carp for lunch, I’ll make two extra portions for you to try.”
After spending so much time with Jiang Li, Qi Shaoqiang also discovered that this little girl didn’t care about other things but was very particular about eating and had a huge appetite.
Being able to eat well is a blessing. She is so thin, she needs to nourish herself well.
Jiang Li immediately became interested. “Okay, I will definitely come.”
Qi Shaoqiang laughed, this little greedy cat.
Jiang Changyi was not angry even though he got rejected. After Qi Shaoqiang left, he pulled Jiang Li and said, “Tell me, what happened? How did you and Qi Shaoqiang get together?”
“Did he say when he was going to get married?”
Jiang Li didn’t want to say more, so she just said a few perfunctory words and went back to her room.
Jiang Changyi was left with a burning feeling. If Jiang Li married Qi Shaoqiang, she would be the deputy factory director’s wife from then on.
This is a great thing that will make the ancestors’ graves smoke green, which is enough to cover up the ugly thing of Hongmei.
When the time comes, all the peasants in the village will come rushing to curry favor with me.
Then let Qi Shaoqiang arrange a job for Tianci in the factory. Who knows, maybe he can also work as a worker in the factory!
Jiang Changyi’s original dejection was swept away, and he cheered up. He soon became a city dweller!
Jiang Li took a quick shower, but still felt uncomfortable.
She wanted to get some more water from the water tank but found it was empty.
The Jiang family didn’t have a dedicated bathroom, so everyone washed themselves in their own rooms. Jiang Changyi and Old Mrs. Zhou were even more careless, sometimes they went to bed without even washing their feet.
‘I really miss my big bathtub and bath balls with various scents.’
It was the hottest time of the year, and even at night, it felt like a big steamer. Jiang Li fanned herself and fell asleep in a daze.
In her dream, she returned to her three-story villa and took a nice bath.
But as she washed, the creaking sound became louder and louder.
Jiang Li woke up from her dream and suddenly found that the window was shaking slightly, making a creaking sound.
