SC: Pei’s Return & Wife-Obsessed Transformation! Chapter 30

Chapter 30: Pei Dog! You’ve Changed

“Of course I’ll wipe it myself. You’re not going to wipe it for me.” Jian Ruo Ci mumbled under her breath. She wiped her soaked hair. This rain was definitely targeting her. She was almost completely drenched. This was the consequence of going out without checking the almanac.

She mumbled in what she thought was a very quiet voice, but Pei Yan Zhou still heard her. He leaned slightly, his eyes narrowed. “I’ll wipe it.”

He reached out and grabbed the towel from her hand. Before Jian Ruo Ci could react, the towel was back on her head. She was having a bad day. She thought Pei Yan Zhou was deliberately messing with her. She was about to lash out when a pair of hands appeared on her head, gently wiping her hair.

Jian Ruo Ci’s body stiffened uncomfortably. Her hands tightly gripped the hem of her coat in front of her. Her heart beat a little faster.

She stammered, “That… I… I’ll do it myself.”

She hurriedly snatched the towel from his hand and wiped the rainwater from her hair. She looked out the window, avoiding looking at him. She asked, “Why are you here?”

His home wasn’t in this direction. He couldn’t have come all the way to this mall to buy things. Besides, he had a housekeeper at home. He didn’t need to go shopping for groceries himself.

Pei Yan Zhou started the car, looking straight ahead. His thin lips parted. “Are you asking a rhetorical question?”

A rhetorical question?

What does a rhetorical question mean?

Did Pei Yan Zhou come to find her?

Jian Ruo Ci shook her head. She was too narcissistic. There was no way Pei Yan Zhou would come to find her. Impossible, absolutely impossible.

She looked out the car window and took a deep breath.

Jian Ruo Ci! Stop being so narcissistic. Be careful, you’ll be slapped in the face later, the kind that’s louder than firecrackers.

The water in her hair was almost dry. She put down the towel and awkwardly laughed twice. She clasped her hands together. “I guess you came to buy groceries.”

“The vegetables at this mall must be fresh to make Mr. Pei go so far.”

Pei Yan Zhou coldly uttered three words. “I’m not sick.”

Not sick?

He’s not sick…

Jian Ruo Ci thought back to what she had just said. She hadn’t said he was sick, had she?

But he said it. She had to reply to him somehow. The atmosphere in the car was a little awkward. If she didn’t say anything, would Pei Yan Zhou’s face become even colder?

What should she say?

At that moment, Pei Yan Zhou turned his head and glanced at her. In her eyes, it looked like he was waiting for her answer.

She cleared her throat. “I know.”

Pei Yan Zhou: “?”

She paused and then slowly spoke again. “I know you’re not sick.”

Pei Yan Zhou: “?”

Jian Ruo Ci shrank her neck. Why was the temperature in the car getting colder? The heater was on. Maybe it was broken.

She leaned closer and checked. The heater wasn’t broken. Why was it so cold in the car?

“Are you cold?” She turned her head to look at Pei Yan Zhou. His face was cold and gloomy. “Don’t mind if I don’t answer.”

Did she say something wrong again?

When she saw his face, she understood. It was no wonder it was cold. She was sitting next to an ice cube.

Jian Ruo Ci pursed her lips, swallowed, and said through gritted teeth, “Then, Mr. Pei, what did you come here for?”

“To show concern for a lazy cancer patient.”

Pei Yan Zhou said coldly, “To bring warmth to a late-stage lazy cancer patient.”

Jian Ruo Ci: “When did lazy cancer patients get such good treatment?”

As soon as she said it, she realized the problem. She stiffened and turned her head to look at him. She pointed at her face with her finger. “The lazy cancer patient you’re talking about… wouldn’t it be me?”

Pei Yan Zhou: “Your brain isn’t too stupid.”

Jian Ruo Ci was incredulous. “You really came to find me?”

“Hmm.” Pei Yan Zhou said. “To bring warmth to a cancer patient.”

A dog’s mouth can’t spit out ivory. It’s a good thing, but coming from his mouth, it’s like she has a terminal illness and is about to die.

“Pei Yan Zhou, speak properly.”

When she first met Pei Yan Zhou, although he was cold, his mouth wasn’t very poisonous. Occasionally, when she angered him, he would just give her a cold look.

Pei Dog! You’ve changed.

“I learned from you.” Pei Yan Zhou’s face softened slightly. “I’m not wrong. Lazy cancer is also cancer.”

What does he mean he learned from her? Can he have some shame?

“Pei Yan Zhou!” She gritted her teeth. “You only learn the bad things. You can’t learn the good things from me.”

At the crossroads, Pei Yan Zhou stopped the car and waited for the green light. He looked her up and down and said, “If being naive, stupid, and lazy are considered advantages, then forget it.”

“I’m afraid I’ll become mentally retarded in the near future.”

Jian Ruo Ci clenched her hands at her sides, her teeth clenched.

Pei Dog! You’re asking for it!

She wanted to kill someone. What should she do if she couldn’t control the primal force inside her?

She wasn’t really stupid. She had lived in the Jian family’s fiery hell for so many years. Since she was a child, she had been able to read people’s expressions and engage in scheming. At the age of ten, she could easily deal with Jian Ying and Liang Jin Yu’s framing.

She understood human nature and the wickedness of the world. No one had ever called her stupid, only Pei Dog.

What a sin…

Jian Ruo Ci angrily looked out the window, ignoring him. If a dog bites her, she wouldn’t bite back. She wouldn’t be the same kind as him.

Yes, that’s it. She wouldn’t argue with a dog. She didn’t want to be the same kind as him.

She comforted herself. When she arrived at the door of the old villa, her fluctuating mood hadn’t calmed down yet.

The rain had stopped, but the sky was still overcast, just like her mood.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She was carrying her purchases and stood by the car window, looking at him through the window. “Go ahead. Don’t wait for me. I won’t see you again.”

Pei Yan Zhou opened the car door and got out. A slight smile played on his lips. He walked to her side, threw the bags she was holding back into the car, took out the groceries he had bought, and locked the car door.

“Pei Yan Zhou! Give me my things back.” Jian Ruo Ci was furious. “Robbery is a crime.”

“Do you want me to call the police for you?” Pei Yan Zhou said calmly.

Jian Ruo Ci was so angry that her face turned red. She had met her nemesis. Her sharp tongue could tear apart a mistress and scold a scumbag, but in front of Pei Yan Zhou, she could only say a few words that had no deterrent effect.

She was like a little cat that was angry and had nowhere to vent its emotions. She needed someone to smooth her fur. Pei Yan Zhou reached out and gently patted her head twice. “What do you want to eat for lunch? I’ll make it.”

Jian Ruo Ci turned her head away. “Is that an apology?”

“If you say it is, then it is.”

She hadn’t had a proper meal in days. Instant noodles were convenient, but if she ate them any longer, she would throw up.

Jian Ruo Ci wasn’t a petty person, especially when it came to food. She looked at him. “Can I order?”

“Hmm, you tell me.”

She thought for a moment and said, “Braised carp, stir-fried shrimp with oil, spicy chicken, stir-fried beef, and cola chicken wings.”

She didn’t think she wanted anything else. “That’s all for now. I’ll tell you if I think of anything else.”

She hadn’t changed her habit of not liking vegetables in all these years. Pei Yan Zhou looked at her with affection, a clear smile in his eyes.

For the sake of Pei Yan Zhou making her lunch, she would forgive him this time.

She opened the door and went in with Pei Yan Zhou.
