Second Marriage: The Abstinent Commander’s Broken Vow Leads to a Sprained Waist Chapter 2

Chapter 2 :  Xiaoyue, Bad News, Your Sister-in-Law Ran Away!

Everyone blamed Qi Lan. Even if Yan Xiaoyue was wrong, it was in the past. Now they are family, yet they still blame Yan Xiaoyue for the death of their child—that’s going too far.

Every family has daughters. If they were all treated like this, they would be bullied to death.

Seeing everyone siding against her, Qi Lan laughed loudly, “You’ll regret this one day.” Then she left.

Yan Xiaoyue folded her arms and looked around. Several older sisters-in-law were still gossiping about Qi Lan at her door, making her laugh.

“Sisters-in-law, aren’t you going to leave? Should I keep you for dinner?” Yan Xiaoyue deliberately spoke loudly. Food was scarce, and some people were shameless enough to freeload.

One of them was exactly that type.

As soon as she finished speaking, everyone said their goodbyes. One woman even kept looking back at her three steps at a time, as if hoping for an invitation to stay for dinner.

“I’m really sorry, sisters-in-law. Xiaoyue just woke up and hasn’t had time to cook, so I won’t keep you.” Yan Xiaoyue picked up a basin of water and splashed it out.

These people were interesting. They helped their sister-in-law bully others and then tried to mooch a meal. How could they have such nerve?

After everyone left, Jin Chao, who had been gentle, immediately changed his expression, becoming icy cold.

“What do you want to eat?” Yan Xiaoyue, remembering she was living in someone else’s house, decided to cook a meal.

“Anything,” Jin Chao replied coldly and walked to the backyard.

Yan Xiaoyue only then noticed that Jin Chao’s leg limped, just as described in the book. He was walking towards freshly turned soil.

Was he planning to plant vegetables?

She shook her head and went into the kitchen. The kitchen was empty. It was a hasty marriage; even without a wedding banquet, there wasn’t even a scrap of meat.

Yan Xiaoyue searched the kitchen and found only oil, salt, some rice and flour, and a few eggs in the corner. She missed her automatic kitchen terribly.

In her previous life, she was a video blogger specializing in intangible cultural heritage, using various appliances. However, in her videos, she presented everything as if she had made it herself.

Sometimes she would make two versions—one using traditional methods and one using modern appliances.

When she wasn’t familiar with the traditional methods, she worried about messing up. Fortunately, she usually managed to pull it off. Once she did mess up, it attracted a lot of attention.

After that, she stopped worrying, because the public was forgiving of mistakes.

Yan Xiaoyue decided to make an egg pancake, but there was only a little oil, not enough.

“If only I had a can of oil,” she muttered unconsciously.

Unexpectedly, a can of oil appeared in her hand, startling her. The more she looked at the can, the more familiar it seemed, until she saw the word “Yue” written in brush script. She remembered it was an oil can from her farm.

Could she move objects with her mind?

Before she could think further, her stomach rumbled. She decided to deal with her hunger first.

A fragrant smell wafted from Jin Chao’s room.

The layout of the Jin family’s house was such that the eldest son lived in the back, the second son next door. The smell attracted the second son’s children to their kitchen door.

“Aunt, what are you cooking?” A clean little girl stood at the door, looking at her innocently.

“I’m making medicine for your third uncle. His legs aren’t good, and the doctor said he needs to eat more nutritious food.” Although each family had its own house and kitchen, the Jin family hadn’t divided their property.

Most of the food was stored at the eldest sister-in-law’s house.

Mr. Jin and his wife lived with the eldest son.

“Third Aunt, I want some too.” The little girl at the door looked longingly. Just as Yan Xiaoyue was about to give her a piece, another head popped up.

“Third Aunt, Ningning wants some too.” That was the eldest sister-in-law’s youngest daughter, eight years old this year.

“This is medicine, you can’t eat it.” Yan Xiaoyue sternly refused and closed the kitchen door, blocking the two little ones’ view.

“Wah, Third Aunt won’t give us any!” The children outside cried.

Yan Xiaoyue ignored them; she was hungry herself.

Through the small window, she called Jin Chao, who was in the backyard, to come and eat.

When he reached the door, the children outside shouted, “The man-eating villain is here!”

In a flash, the children were gone.

“These kids are really good at picking on soft targets,” Yan Xiaoyue said angrily. They had been crying and making a fuss, but now they ran away so quickly.

“What?” Jin Chao came in, glancing indifferently at the children outside, his eyes showing no interest.

Yan Xiaoyue’s heart ached. The original owner had found her a cold and emotionless husband.

Although she liked soldiers, this icy demeanor made her wonder how they would live together.

In a fit of pique, she took a pancake and went back to her room. Upon arriving, she remembered the oil can she had taken out and felt regret.

“If only I could go back to my old home,” Yan Xiaoyue muttered. In a blink of an eye, she found herself in her farmhouse.

Her own fruits and vegetables were plentiful, the house was fully furnished, and the well in the yard was steaming, looking ethereal.

How did she really return to her old home?

As soon as she wondered, the bracelet on her hand flashed.

She twitched her mouth. Could this be the legendary space?

The heavens were really stingy, giving her own things as her space.

Heaven: Don’t you want it?

Yan Xiaoyue: I do!!!

Yan Xiaoyue looked around the farm and picked a cucumber. Worried about the prickles, she wiped it with her clothes and ate it.

The cucumber tasted better than any she had eaten before, juicy and refreshing, making her want more.

After touring the vegetable garden, Yan Xiaoyue was full.

She sat down and brewed a pot of tea. Before she could take a sip, she heard someone knocking and shouting, “Xiaoyue, bad news, your sister-in-law from your family ran away!”
