Chapter 29: Yan Zhitao’s Contradictions
The city’s university is a key university. Students, and many older people—rumored to be from the first college entrance examination, mostly older—constantly come and go at the school gate.
“Should we go in?” Yan Shu was a little afraid to go to school. For some reason, he always felt inferior.
“No, we’ll come back to class in a few days. I don’t want to go in now.”
Yan Xiaoyue refused to experience student life so quickly. Although it’s an adult university, the students here are all adults.
They’re all more or less the same.
But some people are less experienced and narrow-minded, so they start to look down on others.
She still hates this kind of superior, discriminatory attitude.
“Let’s go eat first.”
When Yan Xiaoyue arrived, she saw a small shop next to it. She didn’t know what was inside. If she could set up a supermarket here…?
No, surveillance isn’t widespread yet. If someone steals something, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself.
She shook her head. This wouldn’t work.
The noodle shop they ate at last time had a good location. She wondered how it was doing.
Besides, it’s a bit far from here, not good for doing business with college students. Seeing people getting sick is heartbreaking.
She suddenly felt that making money from women was the most reassuring.
“I’ll go and ask around which restaurant is good.”
Yan Shu said and ran off.
“Again!”
Yan Heng muttered behind him.
Yan Xiaoyue found it novel. In her past life, she didn’t have any siblings. She never expected her two brothers in this life to be so easy to get along with.
Having seen enough of sibling rivalry and estranged sisters, she found her sister-in-law easy to get along with too.
Before Yan Xiaoyue could speak, she saw her second brother running back, gasping for breath, pointing to the restaurant in the middle and saying, “I asked several people, and they all said this one is good. Let’s try it.”
She looked up, nodded, and everyone walked towards the restaurant in the middle, seeing the name “Qingxin Pavilion” on the shop.
She shivered. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they were living in a wuxia novel.
The layout of the shop was also particularly exquisite, looking very stylish.
The interior design was actually taken from wuxia novels, with scenes copied directly.
She couldn’t help but admire this person, because her brain couldn’t have thought of this.
“Welcome!”
A pleasant female voice sounded. Turning her head, Yan Zhining, dressed in ancient clothes, walked gracefully, a small bell hanging from her waist, “ding-ling-ling,” sounding very pleasant.
“That’s bold!”
It’s only recently that society has opened up, people’s minds are gradually becoming more liberated, but it’s not that open yet. Only college students would accept new things so quickly. Otherwise, with this outfit, she would have been beaten up.
She had to admire Yan Zhitao.
“What would you like to eat?” Yan Zhining pretended not to see them and continued to greet them.
“Yan Zhining, is this Big Sister’s restaurant?”
In Yan Xiaoyue’s memory, she and Yan Zhining always called each other by name.
They were the same age, went to school together. Only because Yan Zhining was taller, she liked to put her arm around Yan Zhining’s shoulder when they walked. Yan Zhining resented her for this ever since they grew up.
If it weren’t for her, she wouldn’t be so short.
Yan Xiaoyue recalled bits and pieces of their interactions. She really wanted to die on the spot. This was just two people playing house.
Later, it was Yan Xiaoyue who advised her that Jin Qingyang was unreliable and shouldn’t marry him. The original owner felt that their views didn’t match, so she stopped interacting with Yan Zhining.
But now it seems that the original owner’s idea was correct.
In the eyes of Yan Zhitao and Yan Zhining, she was still an outsider.
How could biological sisters be less close than her cousin?
“Xiao Ning, bring us the signature dish.”
Yan Heng saw this and called out.
“There are many signature dishes, and they’re quite expensive. You won’t be able to finish them. I suggest you choose a few dishes you want.”
Yan Zhining glanced at them and couldn’t help but remind them.
“Okay, Big Sister, just bring us some, enough for us to eat.” Yan Xiaoyue nodded in agreement.
“Just wait.”
Yan Zhining turned and left.
“Xiaoyue, you don’t seem surprised at all?” Li Shumei approached Xiaoyue and whispered in her ear.
“Yeah, I met Aunt Tao in the city last time, and she’s also cooperating with a clothing store.”
Yan Xiaoyue recounted what happened last time. It seemed that Yan Zhitao was really amazing, she could actually think alike. After tasting the food, if it’s delicious, they’ll have to change their strategy.
After a while, the dishes were served. Looking at the exquisite dishes on the table, Yan Xiaoyue twitched her mouth.
No wonder only a few couples came to eat after they came in. This really isn’t filling.
It seems she doesn’t need to think about this aspect anymore. Yan Zhitao is going for a high-end, upscale cuisine, so she’ll go for the civilian route.
She remembered a dish she particularly liked in her past life: a big pot stew, with a particularly strong aroma, and very delicious.
After eating, add broth, and it can be made into a soup pot, with a few side dishes and a portion of noodles, you can eat your fill.
“Xiao Ning, is this the signature dish?” Yan Heng questioned, causing Yan Zhining’s face to change.
“I told you it’s expensive, and you insisted on ordering it. This is the signature dish.” Yan Zhining said, and brought the bill over.
“Here.” Yan Xiaoyue took out a large sum of money from her pocket. She didn’t expect that just two dishes would cost ten yuan.
Yan Zhitao really understood the psychology of college students.
“Don’t go into any strange shop next time. Uncle and Aunt Er worked hard to save money, and you spent it all.” Yan Zhining took the money and turned to leave.
Looking at the steak in front of her, Yan Xiaoyue felt repulsed. She liked to eat meat, but she didn’t like this half-cooked kind.
“Is this edible?” Yan Heng doubtfully took a bite and spat it out.
“Can we take it away?”
The eldest sister-in-law whispered. She really couldn’t eat it.
Yan Xiaoyue found it strange. Ancient-style attire, but eating Western food. She didn’t know what route Yan Zhitao was taking.
“Xiaoyue, I should have just eaten noodles.” Yan Shu was unhappy. The information he got seemed to be a lie.
“Yeah, let’s pack it up and take it home.” Yan Xiaoyue nodded and called out, and a woman in ancient-style clothing came to pack the food.
Yan Zhining stood at the cashier watching them smile, her smile not reaching her eyes.
“You wanted to eat all the signature dishes, you probably have to pack one portion to take away!” Yan Zhining’s voice was flat, making it hard to tell her emotions.
“Thanks for reminding us.” Yan Xiaoyue nodded in thanks.
Yan Zhining curled her lips, turned her head, and started recording the accounts.
She didn’t bother with them anymore. She didn’t want to lose face, so she picked up the takeout boxes and left.
