[Modern Romance] Secretary Jiang Is Digging Another Pit for the CEO
Secretary Jiang Is Digging Another Pit for the CEO Chapter 6

Chapter 6

After a long nap in Gu Jingcheng’s private bedroom, the plane finally landed safely at Ma city Airport.

During the long flight, Jiang Yehui had become acquainted with the two bodyguards. Surprisingly, they were biological sisters and even shared her surname—one was Jiang Yue, the elder, more delicate and reserved; the other, Jiang Ru, was more spirited and bold.

Before disembarking, Jiang Yehui glanced at their matching suit uniforms and shook her head. “You two are way too conspicuous like this. Relax a little—go change, and let’s vacation properly.”

Jiang Yue hesitated slightly, but Jiang Ru was already visibly excited, tugging on her sister’s arm with a look that said everything.

Jiang Yehui cleared her throat and looked at her watch. “One minute. Countdown starts now.”

That did it. Jiang Yue didn’t hesitate any longer. The sisters ran off hand-in-hand toward the luggage area.

Jiang Yehui smiled. No matter their profession, they were still in their twenties—how could they not love to have fun?

One minute later—

Jiang Yehui gave them an approving once-over. Both had changed into casual outfits. Jiang Yue wore a light-colored knit sweater, her dainty features making her look more like a gentle girl than a security officer. Jiang Ru was in a plaid shirt and jeans, taller than both of them by half a head, and built sturdier—she genuinely resembled a boy at first glance.

Once off the plane, the sisters immediately flanked Jiang Yehui on either side, guarding her like precious cargo. Jiang Yehui understood it was part of their job and didn’t protest.

Their personal butler was already waiting at the airport. Jiang Yue stepped forward to communicate the itinerary.

What surprised Jiang Yehui was how fluent Jiang Yue’s English was—sharp, composed, and articulate. Not only did she handle everything with grace, Jiang Yehui didn’t have to lift a finger.

She couldn’t help but marvel—bodyguards these days really had to be internationally competent. Jiang Yue was undeniably talented.

Jiang Ru noticed Jiang Yehui’s admiring gaze toward her sister and looked even more proud than if she’d been praised herself. She beamed and said, “My sister is amazing! She’s guarded many big celebrities. Some even request her specifically!”

Jiang Yue gave her sister a warning glare and said modestly, “Don’t listen to her, Ma’am. It’s just part of the job assigned to me by the company.”

Jiang Yehui looked genuinely interested and smiled encouragingly. “Really? Who were they?”

Jiang Ru immediately perked up. “My sister has been on duty for top-tier Mingji artists. One time, Yu Jiayun and Chen Leyao had overlapping schedules and actually argued over who got her. They both thought they were too important to share and even went to Assistant Jin. It got so big that Mr. Gu was informed!”

Jiang Ru paused deliberately.

Jiang Yehui was amused and played along. “What did Mr. Gu do?”

Grinning, Jiang Ru declared, “He ignored both of them! Instead, he told our manager to assign my sister to guard a C-list celeb who barely had any fans. And after that, guess what? That C-lister slowly rose in popularity and now she’s A-list!”

Jiang Yehui didn’t know Gu Jingcheng well, but from what she’d seen, that did sound like something he’d do. He had a strong sense of control. Anyone who stirred up drama in his presence, no matter how famous, wouldn’t be spared. He called the shots on who’s top-tier. If he wanted, even a nobody could rise to fame overnight.

Jiang Ru was eagerly waiting for her to ask who that celebrity was. Seeing no reaction, she blurted out, “Don’t you want to know who that star is?”

Jiang Yue, having worked several years in Mingji’s security department and experienced quite a few celebrity events and private gigs, worried her sister might come off as too chatty. She quickly glared at her in warning.

Jiang Ru, who worshipped her sister, shrank back and zipped her lips.

Jiang Yehui had seen their dynamic multiple times already and found it rather touching.

Despite her height and build, Jiang Ru was like a pure-hearted girl. Jiang Yue, four years older, was sharp and emotionally intelligent. Though strict on the surface, she was always protecting her little sister—like a young mom. Their bond was obvious.

Growing up in Jiang Yehui’s social circle, it was rare to meet such genuine people. Even her cousin, ten years younger, knew how to flatter her for favors. Don’t even mention the fading relatives from the Jiang family—her two-years-older female cousin pretended to like her and constantly posted pictures of their “sisterly bond.”

As for herself… well, she wasn’t much better.

She glanced at Jiang Yue and joked, “You’re really something—you won’t even let her finish the story. I was still waiting to hear the name!”

Jiang Yue understood Jiang Yehui wasn’t annoyed, and gave her sister a look to continue.

Jiang Ru brightened again. “That star was Lu Mingming! Bet you didn’t guess that! She’s super famous now. At the company’s anniversary gala, when asked what kind of man she liked, she said someone like Mr. Gu!”

“Xiao Ru!”

Jiang Yue hissed and glanced nervously at Jiang Yehui.

But Jiang Yehui just laughed, “Lu Mingming’s dramas are actually pretty good.”

Jiang Ru eagerly chimed in, “Yes! Especially the one she did with Fu Sheng—Stardust Memoir! I didn’t miss a single episode. Fu Sheng is sooo handsome!”

Jiang Yehui smiled. “Didn’t you say on the plane that Mr. Gu was the most handsome? So which is it—Fu Sheng or Gu Jingcheng?”

This question truly stumped Jiang Ru. She scratched her head and thought for a long while before hesitantly replying, “Fu Sheng is like a melancholic prince straight out of a manga, while Mr. Gu is a handsome, rich, and powerful overbearing CEO… both are precious, how could I possibly choose!”

“Pfft!”

Jiang Yehui laughed at her description. She wasn’t sure how melancholic Fu Sheng really was, but Gu Jingcheng certainly fit the overbearing CEO type to a T.

Listening from the side, Jiang Yue was filled with mixed emotions.

She had interacted with many people and considered herself decent at reading them, yet she couldn’t figure out this Mrs. Gu at all.

She was young—looked about the same age as Jiang Ru—with a gentle temperament and an approachable demeanor. But the poise in her voice and the grace in her movements clearly marked her as someone from a different world.

The calm and decisive way she handled Yang Xiaoguo earlier showed she was no pushover. Yet here she was, chatting enthusiastically about celebrities like an ordinary girl.

Jiang Yue silently reminded herself to stay vigilant and fulfill her duties well during this trip—no mistakes allowed.

Meanwhile, though Jiang Yehui was gossiping with Jiang Ru, her mind was on Lu Mingming.

She had been focused on Yu Jiayun before and overlooked Lu Mingming, but now it was clear—those two weren’t just rivals in the public eye, they had personal history.

Lu Mingming had risen to fame thanks to Gu Jingcheng’s support—likely a “coincidental” favor. Gratitude was expected. But to call him her ideal type in public? Was it a PR stunt… or her true feelings?

Sighing leisurely, Jiang Yehui added another name to her mental list of women: No. 3, Lu Mingming.

Over an hour later, they arrived at their destination.

It was a beautiful island in the South Pacific, isolated and untouched, like a paradise hidden from the world—referred to by many as “the place closest to heaven.”

Just the name alone spoke of its beauty. Jiang Yehui had never been there before, but she fell in love at first sight.

The entire honeymoon was arranged by Gu Jingcheng. The scenery was so breathtaking that her opinion of him, which had plummeted on their wedding night, began to rise again.

They were staying in an ultra-luxurious overwater villa, complete with a natural pool and top-tier butler service. During the day, a private guide took them exploring and enjoying the local cuisine; at night, it was Jiang Yehui’s time alone.

She sat alone on the terrace overlooking the water, sipping wine in the breeze, occasionally tapping away on her laptop.

By now, the Jiang sisters had gotten used to her routine and knew not to disturb her.

She was just beginning to relax when her phone rang.

A mysterious voice came through: “Beauty Jiang, guess what I’m doing right now?”

From the faint noise in the background and a quick mental calculation, Jiang Yehui guessed, “The Jinlu Awards ceremony?”

“Holy sh*t! How did you know? You really love me! I’m in the middle of my idol’s fan crowd, about to head inside!”

Jiang Yehui teased, “Why didn’t you just ask your dad for help? You could meet your idol in minutes—no need to squeeze in with the fans.”

“That’s not the point. I love the energy of being in the crowd and cheering with everyone.”

Fair enough. Jiang Yehui took another sip of wine. “Fu Sheng might win an award tonight.”

“He better! Stardust Memoir was huge!”

They chatted a bit more about celebrities before Xin Yan remembered to check in on her friend. “How’s the honeymoon with Gu Jingcheng? Super dreamy, right?”

Jiang Yehui let out two dry laughs.

“What do you mean by that?”

She hesitated, then asked, “Did it hurt the first time for you?”

“Just a bit at first. Then not really.”

“And afterward?”

“Depends. If the guy’s bad or the girl’s different, it can still hurt. Why? Tell me!”

“It’s fine. You already answered me.”

“Don’t drop it like that! Are you guys incompatible in bed? Does Gu Jingcheng have a problem? No way—it must be you!”

“…Ahem,” Jiang Yehui put down her wine glass. “Are you my friend or Gu Jingcheng’s PR manager?”

“I’m just being objective. Gu Jingcheng is 28 and has been around the block. If there was something wrong with him, we’d have heard about it. And all the women linked to him always say he’s perfect.”

Jiang Yehui frowned. Xin Yan had a point… could it really be her?

Noticing her silence, Xin Yan cautiously asked, “You never… with Ye Huai?”

Jiang Yehui froze for a second, taking a moment to even register the name. Then she replied calmly, “No. We didn’t even kiss.”

Xin Yan breathed a quiet sigh of relief. Though it had been three or four years, she’d never dared mention Ye Huai around her friend—especially since she was the one who introduced them, not realizing he’d turn out to be a jerk.

But hearing that they hadn’t even kissed, she was still surprised. “Then what kind of relationship was that? You were ready to fight your brother over him!”

Jiang Yehui thought back and laughed at herself. “Can’t a fairy have a romance too? We talked about art, painting, philosophy, watched the stars and moon, shared poetry and literature, discussed the meaning of life from A to Z—”

“Oh come on!” Xin Yan cut her off. “Okay, fairy girl, I’m sending you two movies. Download them when you’ve got time and study them well. When it comes to this kind of thing, you have to let yourself go. That’s the only way to enjoy it.

They’re my private stash—I wouldn’t share them with anyone else. Only for you, because we’ve been friends so long. Hang on, I need to find Wi-Fi.”

“Sure, sure.” Jiang Yehui realized what kind of movies she meant but assumed she was just joking.

After a little more chatting, they finally hung up.

Sitting in silence for a while, Jiang Yehui turned on some music and gazed at the endless starry sky—thinking about nothing at all, simply enjoying the soothing, gentle melody.

Until a notification pinged on her phone—sure enough, Xin Yan had sent over two large files.

She actually got curious, opened her laptop, randomly clicked one to download, and set it aside.

By the time she finished her shower, the download was complete. She opened it… and was completely stunned.

What the heck! She couldn’t help but borrow Xin Yan’s favorite catchphrase.

It could be like that?

Compared to free-spirited Xin Yan, had her own life been way too “wholesome”?

Automatically ignoring the male lead, she watched with embarrassment as the female lead was tossed around with what looked like painful expressions and constant moaning. Feeling overwhelmed, she nervously downed the rest of her red wine.

Wiping cold sweat from her forehead, she thought: forget it, forget it. Two people with no emotional connection doing that kind of intense, close-contact stuff? Her tiny frame couldn’t possibly handle it.

She didn’t have the heart to tell Xin Yan that the movie hadn’t helped her open up—it had only made her even more certain she was going to get “cheated on.”
