[Gu Qin’s Extra Story]
My new desk mate is acting odd.
He’s always brushing up against me, touching my fingers when he borrows a pen, grazing my leg when he picks up things from the floor, and constantly finding reasons to get close.
But honestly, I don’t mind his touch.
In fact, I kind of like it.
Especially when he gets that satisfied look every time he succeeds—it’s sort of cute.
But I still avoid him.
Because I’m afraid he’ll notice my reactions whenever he touches me.
That’s right.
I actually like my new desk mate.
I’ve liked him since our first year in high school.
But I know that feelings between two guys are something most people can’t accept, so I planned to hide this until graduation.
Yet he keeps doing this.
Does he like me too?
I’m not sure.
I decided to observe him a little more.
Fang Chi secretly kissed me.
He climbed onto my bed in the middle of the night, saying he was worried I’d stopped breathing.
Sometimes he’s adorably silly.
So I grabbed him, pretending it was an accident, and kissed him back.
I’d worried he might get angry.
But he looked happy and even asked me to kiss him again.
I think… maybe he really does like me?
I didn’t expect that the person who kissed me just days ago would be laughing and chatting with another girl.
And I really didn’t expect him to tell me that he’d thought he liked Su Man all along, only realizing today that he didn’t.
He only realized today he didn’t like Su Man, meaning he’d thought he liked her until today.
Then what am I to him?
In a moment of anger, I confessed my feelings.
He seemed shocked, looking at me with wide eyes, and told me he didn’t like me.
He also explained that he had been touching me and getting close because he’d bonded with some “system” that required him to connect with me to stay healthy.
It all sounded absurd, but the sincerity in his gaze convinced me he wasn’t lying.
And when he showed me his medical diagnosis, I couldn’t bring myself to doubt him anymore.
I only noticed one thing: his diagnosis was late-stage stomach cancer.
So that’s why he’s been coughing and running to the bathroom in the middle of class lately.
That’s why he, who used to love spicy food, now only eats plain porridge and cabbage.
He must be in so much pain.
And yet I noticed nothing.
Suddenly, I didn’t care whether he liked me or not.
I just prayed that his “system” was real, so I could help save him.
Fang Chi and I are together now.
And now I’m sure he truly likes me.
He’s just so oblivious that he didn’t realize it himself.
Our relationship is stable.
With my help, his lifespan has increased to 89 years.
His system says that’s his natural lifespan, so it can’t increase further.
But Fang Chi still sometimes has stomach pain.
The system explained that while his lifespan has extended, his illness hasn’t fully healed, so he’ll always have stomach issues.
I asked Fang Chi what could fully cure him.
Blushing, he fumbled for words before managing to stammer three characters.
“Full…full home run…”
Oh.
I understood and gently embraced him, whispering,
“Then how about we fully heal you tonight?”
