Chapter 23: The White Family Pill
Fu Jin coaxed her for a long time, and only when he forced her to promise to come pick fruits with him regularly did Jiang You stop crying.
Seeing her smile, Fu Jin felt as though the moon that had been hidden all night finally emerged.
Uncle Wu put the goose down carefully, then packed the harvested fruits into boxes, escorting the two out of the orchard.
Jiang You curiously asked, “Why does the orchard have a goose?”
Uncle Wu replied, “Madam… recently.”
But he didn’t elaborate further and just smiled, saying, “Okay.”
In the bedroom of Yunju Pavilion, Jiang You had just finished her bath, burying her face in the blanket, and excitedly rolled around a few times.
Fu Jin… Fu Jin…
The moon hid half its face but eventually peeked out.
The next day, Jiang You woke up at eleven. As soon as she entered the living room, she saw the coffee table piled high with snacks. In the kitchen, servants were stuffing things into the fridge, all food and drinks.
The servant, who introduced herself as Sister Chen, would be staying at Yunju Pavilion recently to take care of her daily needs.
Jiang You guessed this was Fu Jin’s idea, and a wave of sweetness filled her heart.
She also wondered how much the accommodation would cost.
At lunch, Jiang You got her wish and had the famous Northeast-style “Iron Pot Stewed Goose.”
Ruan Guixia was the one who made it happen. To get an authentic Northeast iron pot stew, she specially invited a master chef who had been cooking for thirty years from Ice City. She even opened a Northeast restaurant in the city, and whenever they wanted to eat, they would invite the chef to their home.
She had even renovated a room specifically for the meal, with a large round table in the center for the iron pot, and even set up a kang (traditional heated platform).
In summer, they would sit at the table, and in winter, they would heat the kang—creating the perfect atmosphere. All they needed was to put on a floral padded jacket and sing a few folk songs.
Jiang You couldn’t really picture Ruan Guixia wearing a floral jacket because, in her mind, Sister Xia was as beautiful as Zuxian and as radiant as Qingxia.
Jiang You didn’t ask more about what happened that night at the bar, nor did she know what became of that scoundrel, until this morning. Just after she woke up, she received a message from Wen Nian, urgently telling her to check the trending topics on Weibo.
The first trending topic shocked her—“The Young Master of the White Family Appears at the Police Station”, followed by the bright red word “Breaking.”
As she scrolled further:
“The White Family’s Heir Gets Revenge!”
“Evidence of Murder and Rape, Accumulating!”
“Is it a Twist of Human Nature or the Power of Money?”
“Who’s Protecting the Scumbag?”
“White Family Pills!”
There were over twenty trending topics.
Jiang You pieced together the story.
It appeared that earlier that morning, the unconscious Bai Hao had been dumped at the police station, both his hands severed, his tendons cut, and his body severely beaten—on the brink of death.
Next to Bai Hao’s “body” was a dossier listing over twenty criminal charges against him, including drunk driving, organizing a criminal gang, usury, and the sexual exploitation of minors.
His crimes were so numerous they were beyond imagination.
Netizens quickly reacted!
“How lucky to be reincarnated, which of these crimes wouldn’t warrant a hundred deaths for an ordinary person?”
“Can money really allow someone to do anything? Is the law only there to control the poor?”
“Why was he allowed so many opportunities to commit crimes? Have the relevant authorities died?”
“Shh~ The White Family has someone in the government, don’t ask, we all understand (shush gif).”
“Am I the only one curious about who did this? It feels so good to see (celebration gif)!”
Wen Nian voice messaged: “Uncle is amazing! People like this should die and be nailed to the pillar of shame!”
Jiang You also felt her blood boiling. She had suspected Bai Hao wasn’t a good person but never imagined he’d be this rotten!
She thought of Fu Jin as a hero, a knight who robs the rich to help the poor, as though he were from an ancient story.
But even though she knew that night’s man was named Bai Hao, she had always assumed he was just an ordinary small-time thug who happened to have the surname Bai. She never imagined he was actually from the White family.
The White family in North City was a well-known aristocratic family.
The White family…
Jiang You voice messaged: “Where is Bai Hao now?”
Wen Nian replied: “I asked Uncle Tang, he said he’s in the hospital for emergency treatment. As for what will happen, we have to wait until he’s out of danger. Ugh, why even bother saving him? Just let him die! Oh, wait, he needs to be saved, then we can torture him properly…”
Once a person becomes rotten to the core, even death is a luxury.
The whole Bai Hao incident stirred up a storm, and the trending topics stayed up for over an hour before they started disappearing one by one. Within half an hour, everything was wiped clean.
Just as everyone was criticizing the authorities for “money can move mountains,” those trending topics popped up again, and in even greater numbers.
The following day was full of ups and downs in the trending topics.
It was clear that some were paying to have them removed, while others were paying to keep them up, and Weibo was making a fortune in the process.
Jiang You and Wen Nian stayed on Weibo the entire day, buying countless fake accounts to verbally attack Bai Hao. Wen Nian even went as far as hiring an army of trolls to escalate the “destroying scum” movement.
By the evening, a new trending topic shot up to number one:
“Breaking: The True Story Behind the Injury of the Young Master of the White Family”
The first post came from a big influencer, claiming that Bai Hao was set up by the Tang family because the two families had business rivalries. The Tang family didn’t dare to touch the White family, so Bai Hao, as a bastard child of the White family’s second master, was used as a pawn to take the beating. The crimes he was accused of were all fabricated by the Tang family to discredit the White family.
This caused a huge uproar!
Netizens were once again fired up.
“Wow, these rich families really know how to play the game!”
“What should I do? I suddenly feel sorry for Bai Hao, being a bastard is so tragic!”
“The Tang family isn’t innocent either. Their ‘Sheng Tang’ business is full of chaos…”
“This twist came out of nowhere, let’s wait and see what else happens!”
The netizens who had been criticizing Bai Hao and the White family for their cruelty now turned some of their ire toward the Tang family.
Large families often have hidden secrets, and the Tang family, which had been wealthy for years, was soon being scrutinized and exposed to the public.
