Secretly Like You for Many Years Chapter 7

Chapter 7: A Dog on a Leash? Absolutely Not!

When Jiang You arrived at Wen’s house, both Wen’s parents were out, and all the servants had been dismissed by Wen Nian. Puzzled, Jiang You’s curiosity was soon satisfied when she entered Wen Nian’s bedroom.

It was like releasing a tiger back into the mountains—the room resembled a crime scene.

On the vanity, eyeshadow and blush were scattered everywhere; beneath the vanity, long skirts and shoes lay haphazardly.

The entire room screamed, “No place to hide.”

Jiang You asked, “Did you kill someone at home? Planning to destroy the evidence?”

Wen Nian replied, “Can you say something nice about me? I’m a delicate little fairy with no power to hurt a chicken!”

Jiang You rolled her eyes.

Once, Jiang You had bought two boxes of books, and the elevator in their building was broken. The two of them had to carry the boxes up six flights of stairs, each box weighing twenty to thirty pounds, without even a gasp.

That evening, they ate barbecue, each gnawing on a roasted lamb leg.

The barbecue owner was so happy, he couldn’t stop smiling.

In Qi Ye’s words, the two of them had extraordinary bones and could eat anything.

But now, there were more important matters at hand. They dropped their previous differences, united to face the external problem, and began discussing what to wear.

After some deliberation, Wen Nian went with a simple makeup look, with eyeliner only outlining the outer corners of her eyes, light blush and lip gloss, but her lashes were heavily coated, making her eyes look big and bright. Her face appeared radiant.

She chose a pink knitted dress with a sporty vibe.

It was a very ordinary style, but the price reminded Jiang You again that the world was full of disparities.

The dress was figure-hugging with a V-neck, a small cutout in the middle that revealed a hint of her slender waist, accentuating Wen Nian’s curves.

She paired it with white sneakers, making her look more innocent despite her exposed skin.

Her hair was tied into a high ponytail, youthful and lively, giving off a casual, seductive vibe.

The day before, when Wen Nian confessed her feelings, she wore a white puffy skirt that made her look like a princess in a castle.

Since Su Rui thought she was too young, she would show him her seductive charm but without appearing overly mature.

Jiang You said, “Today, you’re going for a pure desire look, leaving no room for green tea bitches.”

Wen Nian looked at herself in the mirror. This was a style she had never tried before—looking pure yet alluring.

Jiang You added, “Also, don’t make it too fancy. Don’t act like you care about him. Otherwise, after he rejected you yesterday, you’ll just seem desperate.”

Why dress up so much? Were you giving him face?

It’s fine to like someone and to be proactive, but being a ‘dog’ is absolutely unacceptable!

Wen Nian remarked, “Sis, when did you become so knowledgeable?”

Jiang You blushed. Actually, she didn’t know much either; she had just seen it in novels and self-help books. She had originally planned to use this on Fu Jin.

Well, good sister, try it first!

“You’ve got a thing for someone!” Wen Nian said, her nose sharper than a dog’s.

“No!” Jiang You quickly denied, her face burning even more.

Wen Nian smirked. The two had grown up together, so they knew everything about each other, including when the other had their period.

To put it bluntly, she knew what the other person would need to do if they bent over.

But the situation was special, and there was no time to investigate further.

“After this, I’m going to question you properly!”

Wen Nian’s gaze was sharp like a knife, and Jiang You couldn’t help but swallow.

The two of them left fully armed, determined to get a result today.

To understand Wen Nian’s feelings for Su Rui, we would have to go back two years.

At that time, Wen Nian was in her first year of high school, infatuated with a young actor who had just debuted, looking like a charming fox spirit. She liked him so much that she asked her dad to help her get an autographed photo.

However, Wen’s father felt like he was losing his favor with her and cried all night, coming up with a malicious plan. He decided to send the young actor to Southeast Asia to develop his career.

It turned out that the actor was signed under Su Rui’s entertainment company, Xing Dian Media.

When Wen’s father found out, Su Rui felt something was off, as the young actor had always been well-behaved and had never offended the Wen family.

Su Rui, who knew Fu Jin, contacted him through him and found out the truth.

Furious, Su Rui decided to confront Wen Nian to get an explanation.

Wen Nian was shocked, and when she returned home, she demanded an explanation from her father, threatening to sever their relationship.

Her father quickly reversed the decision to protect the actor.

Later, Su Rui played the middleman, not only getting Wen Nian an autographed photo but also sending her a birthday gift—having the actor spend the whole day with her on her birthday.

Wen’s father’s heartbreak was evident, though he dared not speak out.

Of course, Wen’s wife, Fu Wan, saw everything and even stopped sleeping in the same room with him for a week, eventually costing him a set of eight-figure jewelry.

From then on, Wen Nian became interested in Su Rui, for two reasons:

  1. Su Rui treated her better than her father did.
  2. Su Rui, wearing glasses, looked even more like a fox spirit than the young actor.

So on her birthday, she sent the young actor away after just twenty minutes and was left with Su Rui for the rest of the day, as he had to stay for work.

But the following day, Wen Nian learned that Su Rui already had a girlfriend, an unknown actress who looked like a fox spirit and had a curvy figure.

It made Wen Nian sigh in front of the mirror for several days, but she could never fill the emptiness inside.

Before the college entrance exams, she finally managed to get into a second-tier actress, who then found someone more powerful than Su Rui.

Wen Nian’s confession was an attempt to get close to Su Rui, to pretend to care for him.

But as life goes, being unable to obtain what you want is the norm.

Perhaps due to her youthful age, Su Rui chose a trendy restaurant for their meeting, booking a private room.

Jiang You and Wen Nian arrived at the scheduled time. Wen Nian went to the private room to meet Su Rui, while Jiang You ordered a coffee and sat in the corner of the lobby.

Wen Nian first went to the restroom to check her makeup and posture, then walked toward the door with a queen-like stride.

You can lose in love, but you can never lose face.

Taking a deep breath, she raised her newly painted avocado-green nails and knocked on the door lightly.

Within three seconds, the door was opened, and the familiar face of a man appeared.

The man wore a silver-gray suit, with broad shoulders, long legs, and a handsome face. His high nose bridge was framed by a pair of frameless glasses, and his fox-like eyes were full of charm.

But in contrast to his refined appearance, the man had a visible bruise near his right eye and a cut on the corner of his lips.

Wen Nian was taken aback, though her face remained impassive.

Jiang You had said that feeling sympathy for a man who didn’t love you was the beginning of tragedy.

Not her problem.

Su Rui looked momentarily dazed upon seeing Wen Nian, and then quickly looked regretful, clearly surprised to see her as a woman, even though he had always treated her like a younger sibling.

But in front of him now stood a woman.
