Chapter 10: Finally Separated
The village head took out a small inkpad from his pocket.
“Then sign and put your fingerprints on it.”
Zhao Sihai nodded and signed and put his fingerprints on the separation agreement.
They didn’t want any real estate, so they didn’t need to go through any other procedures.
Then it was Zhao Gen Sheng’s turn.
Looking at the paper, Zhao Gen Sheng turned to look at Zhao Pozi.
Zhao Pozi gritted her teeth and turned her head away.
But in her heart, she was thinking, just wait and see how I’ll get even with you.
Zhao Gen Sheng had no choice but to sign and put his fingerprints on it.
Fang Hanwu then wrote his witness statement in the blank space below and also signed and put his fingerprints on it.
Although Fang Hanwu was only the production team leader, his signature as a witness carried some weight.
The paper was then temporarily kept by the village head.
They still needed to go through the procedures to officially separate their households before they could apply for a homestead.
The village head turned to look at Zhao Pozi and Zhao Gen Sheng, who hadn’t moved.
“Who of you will go get the money and coupons? There’s still a lot of work to be done in the fields, hurry up.”
Fang Hanwu also glanced at the people outside, “What are you all still looking at? Don’t you want work points?”
The crowd immediately scattered.
“The money and coupons are all managed by the old woman.” Zhao Gen Sheng said stiffly, and he also got up and walked out.
The village head looked at Zhao Pozi.
Zhao Pozi took a deep breath and turned to go into the house.
She came out soon after with a large stack of money and coupons, which she threw directly on the table.
“Now you can be happy.” Her eyes glared fiercely at Bai Ru Qiao.
Seeing the money and coupons scattered on the ground, the village head’s face darkened.
He wanted to scold her, but seeing Zhao Pozi’s thick-skinned attitude, he could only shake his head.
Bai Ru Qiao and Zhao Sihai squatted down to pick up the money, looking like they had been wronged.
The village head and Fang Hanwu shook their heads, having a deeper understanding of Zhao Pozi’s tyranny.
After the money and coupons were counted.
Bai Ru Qiao suddenly took out a small cloth bag wrapped in a floral handkerchief from her pants pocket.
“Mom, I bought this clam oil in town yesterday. I heard you say your hands were chapped. The salesperson at the supply and marketing cooperative said it would heal in three days.”
Zhao Pozi stared at the small cloth bag, her heart moved, and she immediately grabbed it.
She also wanted to take the opportunity to scratch Bai Ru Qiao.
Fortunately, Bai Ru Qiao anticipated it and retracted her hand quickly.
The village head and Fang Hanwu both saw it.
They couldn’t help but glare at her.
“Clean up and get out!” Zhao Pozi was even more annoyed. She rolled her eyes, threw a word, and went back into the house without looking back.
The village head and Fang Hanwu were also annoyed. This woman was really…
She had such a good wife and son, but she didn’t cherish them. She treasured a useless piece of wood, they didn’t know what she was thinking.
The village head asked Zhao Sihai, “What are your plans? Do you have a place to live?”
Zhao Sihai naturally shook his head.
Fang Hanwu suddenly said, “There’s an abandoned house at the end of the village. It’s a bit dilapidated, but if you don’t mind, you can live there first.”
When Bai Ru Qiao heard this, her face turned pale.
Fortunately, she was looking down at her belongings, so no one saw it.
The old house at the end of the village was where they lived in her previous life.
There were too many shadows there.
But she didn’t plan to refuse.
She would rise from where she fell.
She wouldn’t let negative emotions affect her life.
“Okay, thank you, Village Head and Team Leader.” Zhao Sihai thanked them with a smile.
They didn’t have much stuff, so they packed quickly.
Fang Hanwu stayed behind to wait and take them to the old house, and he also helped them carry things.
Zhao Sihai pushed the bicycle, Zhao An An was wrapped in clothes and sat on the front handlebars.
The back seat was also loaded with a lot of things.
Mainly it was the disassembled bed and stools.
Bai Ru Qiao and Fang Hanwu were carrying some loose items.
As they passed through the fields, everyone looked over curiously.
The few things they carried were obvious.
Previously, some people were envious of the hundreds of yuan, but now they felt sorry for them.
They had nothing, they would definitely need to buy more things.
They would probably need to build a house later, which would also cost a lot of money.
Bai Zhiqing was gentle and weak, and she couldn’t earn many work points.
She also had a sickly baby to take care of.
The burden of the family would fall on Zhao Sihai.
It was said that he was discharged from the army due to injury, but no one knew where he was injured.
He seemed normal, maybe it was an internal injury.
“Sigh, this Zhao Pozi is so heartless, she doesn’t understand how good a child Sihai is, why doesn’t she like him?”
“Actually, I think it’s good that they moved out, at least they don’t have to be harassed by that old woman every day.”
“Heh, I don’t think so. With Zhao Jin Hua’s personality, even if they move out, they won’t have peace. Just wait and see.”
“I also think they shouldn’t have moved out. Who will take care of the child? Will Bai Zhiqing really not work in the fields?”
“Tsk, it’s as if someone took care of the child in the Zhao family. Besides, in the Zhao family, Sihai would probably have to support a few more mouths.”
Everyone started chatting.
By now, they had reached the abandoned house.
The old house at the end of the village had been empty for over a decade.
The original family had either left or died during the famine, and eventually, they were all gone.
The house was returned to the village.
Because the scene of the old people dying in the house was too tragic, no one was willing to buy it.
Firstly, it was considered unlucky, and secondly, the older generation had a shadow over it, so it had been left empty.
The house wasn’t big, it had a main room, a side room, and a kitchen, with a small courtyard in the middle.
It was square, about 50 square meters in total.
The courtyard gate was dilapidated and rotten, even the two iron rings were rusty and pitted.
The courtyard wall, made of mud and straw bricks, had collapsed for the most part, with many holes.
The courtyard was overgrown with waist-high weeds.
When you stepped on them, all kinds of insects swarmed out, and occasionally a toad or two would jump out.
The house was also made of mud and straw bricks, and the layer of mud and straw bricks on the surface had fallen off.
The crooked mud and straw bricks inside were exposed.
There were centipedes crawling in the cracks from time to time.
Bai Ru Qiao’s face turned pale.
In her previous life, the couple stayed at Qingyang County Hospital for two days before returning.
When they came back, the courtyard had already been cleaned up by some kind people, it wasn’t as bad as it was now.
Fang Hanwu said, “Although the house is a bit dilapidated, it can still be lived in after cleaning and repairing.
It might take some time to apply for a homestead, so you can start preparing building materials.”
“Team Leader, thank you. We’ll treat everyone to a meal later.” Bai Ru Qiao thanked him gratefully.
“No problem, no problem. I’ll go now.”
He was the production team leader, so he couldn’t really help them with the work, it would be easy to gossip.
Zhao Sihai saw him off, then rolled up his sleeves.
“Qiao Qiao, you and An An wait outside for a while, I’ll clean up and then you can come in.”
Bai Ru Qiao was afraid, but she couldn’t let Zhao Sihai do it alone.
“Hai Ge, I’ll take An An to Auntie Fang’s house first, and then I’ll come back to help you.”
“No need, you stay at Auntie’s house first, I’ll clean up and come get you.”
Zhao Sihai’s voice came from inside the house, accompanied by the sounds of “bang, bang, whoosh”.
Bai Ru Qiao didn’t agree, she just said, “I’ll be back soon.”
She pushed the bicycle into the courtyard, then hugged An An and went to Auntie Fang’s house.
On the way, she met Fang Shen’s daughter, Fang Meizi, and her grandson, Fang Jingguo.
They were surprised to see Bai Ru Qiao and quickly walked over.
“Sister Qiao Qiao, why are you here? We were just about to go find you.”
