Chapter 26: Marriage Urging
After conveying the message, An’an couldn’t help but ask, “Mom, is it really your friend?”
Seeing that his mother seemed to really know it, the little guy wasn’t so scared anymore.
Of course, mainly because it had just said it would give him a little cake.
He had heard from his third uncle that cakes were delicious.
Bai Ruojiao was also much more relaxed now.
If it was that useless system, there shouldn’t be any major problems.
After all, they had been together for over thirty years, and they knew each other’s personalities.
It was just a simple child, with no ulterior motives.
The only concern was whether the other half of the system that had merged had its own independent consciousness. If so, which side would be in control.
But some things weren’t suitable for An’an to hear.
However, the system had already seen through her thoughts.
An’an suddenly said, “Mom, Tongtong told me to tell you something.”
Bai Ruojiao paused and nodded, “Go ahead.”
An’an opened his big eyes, as if he was reading a newspaper, and said word for word.
“That one is bound to his soul, it’s meaningless. Now I’m in charge.”
Bai Ruojiao put together the whole sentence and immediately understood its meaning.
It meant that half of the data was bound to An’an’s soul, and even if time was rewound, it would still exist.
Just like her, after time was rewound, what was already there would still be there.
The other part didn’t have its own consciousness. It was just a piece of lost data.
Hearing this, she was completely relieved.
She looked up and saw the little guy’s eyes shining with curiosity, no longer fear.
She opened her mouth, suddenly feeling a headache. How could she explain the system to An’an?
Most importantly, she was afraid that An’an would go out and tell everyone.
She thought for a moment and then held An’an’s little face, saying seriously,
“An’an, you were born weak, so Mom asked a god for help. Now the god lives in your body. He will make your body better. But you absolutely cannot tell anyone about this, not even Dad. If the god gets angry, he will take Mom away.”
She knew the system’s abilities. As long as it could complete its tasks, it would receive rewards and its body would be constantly modified.
In her previous life, she was still young in her thirties, because her body had already been modified.
As for the system’s tasks, she wasn’t worried.
As the name suggests, the system’s tasks were all related to learning.
As long as the targets were met, rewards would be given. Even if they weren’t met, there would be no punishment, just a delay.
In her previous life, she chose economics.
She didn’t know what An’an would choose.
But she didn’t plan to interfere. Let An’an choose what he liked.
Anyway, he could change his subject anytime. It was just a new experience.
But when An’an heard her explanation, his eyes were filled with terror.
“Mom, Mom, I don’t want a god. The god will take Mom away.”
Hearing the little guy’s crying voice, Bai Ruojiao felt both guilty and helpless. She could only reach out and hug him, patting him to comfort him.
“An’an, don’t be afraid. The god is here to help us. As long as you don’t tell anyone, it won’t happen. It even saved Mom’s life.”
“Really? Is that true?” The little guy stopped crying.
“It’s true. When has Mom ever lied to you?” Bai Ruojiao rubbed his red cheeks.
“Then, then I won’t tell anyone, I promise!” He nodded solemnly.
Bai Ruojiao couldn’t help but chuckle, “Okay, Mom believes An’an won’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t tell anyone.” An’an immediately covered his mouth.
Bai Ruojiao was amused and patted his little bottom, “Alright, get up. Are you hungry?”
“I’m hungry.” The little guy stood up with support, clutching his round little belly, his big eyes blinking.
His diet had improved these past two days, and his little belly had visibly rounded out.
Bai Ruojiao took his clothes and put them on him.
Mother and son got dressed, held hands, and went out of the house. After washing up, they went to eat breakfast.
There were still a few large meat buns and boiled eggs warming on the stove.
Bai Ruojiao didn’t expect Zhao Sihai to have time to make buns so early in the morning.
She guessed he was taking buns for lunch too.
—
At the People’s Commune Management Committee, Zhao Sihai was busy on his first day of work.
As soon as he arrived in the morning, he encountered Liu Ren, the Revolutionary Committee member, who was going to Qingshan Brigade.
He drove him there, followed him to work in the fields, and then returned to the management office. The tractor hadn’t even been turned off when he had to make another trip to deliver goods.
He kept driving until noon before he could rest.
But after running around all morning, Secretary Wang and Liu Ren were quite impressed with him.
Plus, he knew how to get along with people, and his practical abilities were not bad. He had become familiar with most people in just one morning.
Liu Ren saw that he only brought four buns, although they were made with white flour, but for someone his size, it wouldn’t be enough to fill him up. He wanted to invite him to eat at the canteen.
The others also joined in, pushing and shoving him out.
As soon as they left the office, they saw an old lady with gray hair, wearing a blue cotton Zhongshan suit, walking briskly towards them with a basket.
Everyone obviously knew the old lady and stopped to greet her.
Liu Ren said with a smile, “Auntie, you’re here to deliver lunch to the secretary again? Oh, I can smell it. It’s braised pork again, isn’t it?”
“Yes, yes. You’re going to eat now. Why don’t you take some braised pork with you? I made a lot today.” The old lady happily greeted them.
Liu Ren quickly declined, “We’re going to the canteen. They made red-braised pork there today.”
“But how can red-braised pork compare? I’m not bragging, but my braised pork is definitely better than Lao Sun’s red-braised pork.”
“That’s for sure. Otherwise, why would our secretary always think about it? You go ahead. The secretary is in his office now. Don’t let it get cold. If he finds out, he’ll scold us.”
The old lady immediately glared, saying seriously, “If he dares to scold you for this, tell me. I’ll scold him.”
Everyone laughed when they heard this.
The old lady also noticed Zhao Sihai, the new face, “This is…”
“Oh, Auntie, let me introduce you. This is our new driver, Zhao Sihai. He’s the one who drives the tractor. He’s very steady.” Liu Ren immediately said with a beaming smile.
Clearly, he was really satisfied with Zhao Sihai.
The old lady looked at Zhao Sihai and smiled kindly.
“Zhao Zhi is very handsome. He’s also strong. He looks like he has a lot of strength. Are you married?”
When everyone heard the old lady’s familiar words, they all looked at Zhao Sihai with interest.
The old lady habitually urged her son to get married every day, and she also urged the single men in the office to get married.
But Zhao Sihai smiled softly, “I’ve been married for many years. My son is four years old.”
The old lady was both disappointed and envious when she heard this.
Look, he’s so young, and his son is already four years old.
Her eldest son is 26 and still single. Her gray hair is from worrying about him.
She couldn’t help but think about the woman she met at the grocery store the other day.
Indeed, outstanding people are in high demand.
Her eldest son, oh, she didn’t know when he would finally find someone.
