Chapter 10: The Showdown
Shen Yingying’s words today were like a needle puncturing the most sensitive part of Wu Xiaoxia’s heart, exposing the truth with no filter.
She couldn’t accept it, and the last shred of rationality kept her from exploding in anger. She stared at Shen Yingying, gritting her teeth and desperately suppressing the urge to confront her.
“Yingying… We’re best friends. How could I ever like your man? I know I’m not as pretty as you, but for you to say such hurtful things… What do you take me for?”
Wu Xiaoxia didn’t want to confront her, but Shen Yingying had no intention of continuing the game.
She smiled, leaning in slightly, and whispered in Wu Xiaoxia’s ear, “You’re trying to steal your friend’s husband, of course, I see you as a beast. Stop pretending, Wu Xiaoxia, I’ve seen right through you.”
Wu Xiaoxia finally understood that from the very beginning, Shen Yingying had been playing her, treating her like a fool and making her spin in circles.
Wu Xiaoxia was so furious that her adrenaline surged, and she could no longer hold it in. She screamed and rushed to grab Shen Yingying.
“Shen Yingying, you bitch!”
Shen Yingying had previously learned some basic grappling techniques with her sister. Although it wouldn’t be effective against someone like Xie Fangzhu, whose height and strength were on a completely different level, it was more than enough to handle someone like Wu Xiaoxia, a petite girl with no foundation in fighting.
In an instant, Wu Xiaoxia felt a sharp pain in her wrist, and her arms were locked behind her back.
Shen Yingying stood behind Wu Xiaoxia, immobilizing her by holding her hands, and placed her chin on Wu Xiaoxia’s shoulder. She chuckled in a delicate voice, “Oh, I was just joking with you earlier, but I didn’t expect you to reveal your true feelings. Xiaoxia, you really hurt my feelings!”
The two were standing very close to each other, and from a distance, it almost looked like two close friends whispering to each other.
Wu Xiaoxia’s face turned bright red, her bloodshot eyes seemed like they were about to burst out of their sockets. “Shen Yingying, stop pretending! You disgust me!”
Her face was filled with hatred; she wished she could tear Shen Yingying apart. But Shen Yingying tightly held her wrists, leaving her unable to struggle.
Her teeth were about to grind to pieces. Unable to use her hands, she could only use her mouth, cursing fiercely:”Shen Yingying, you slut! What are you so proud of?! Buying a job?! Who would believe your nonsense? I’ll tell Brother Xie everything, I’ll tell Brother Xie that man is your lover, you’ve been in the woods together, you’ve slept together, Shen Yingying! You’re just a fickle, seductive fox, you don’t deserve Brother Xie! You’re finished!”
As if hearing something amusing, Shen Yingying sneered, “So what if I don’t deserve him? Isn’t your Brother Xie still obediently letting me play with him however I like?”
Her tone was so arrogant that Wu Xiaoxia’s punch felt like it was hitting cotton. It made her so angry she was about to spit blood, but Shen Yingying didn’t give her any time to catch her breath and instead dealt her a fatal blow:
“By the way, I forgot to tell you. I slept with your Brother Xie today.”
This statement struck Wu Xiaoxia like a thunderbolt, leaving her utterly stunned.
Seeing Wu Xiaoxia’s face go pale in an instant, Shen Yingying felt pleased and couldn’t help but laugh, “If you want to tell him, go ahead and talk to your Brother Xie. Let’s see if my whispered words worked better, or if your heartfelt reminders had more of an effect.”
Shen Yingying had always treated her as her best sister, sharing all kinds of private matters with her, and the fact that she had slept with Xie Fangzhu was no exception.
This was also one of the reasons Wu Xiaoxia had always had confidence in Xie Fangzhu, because her mother had once told her:
“In a marriage, besides children, the most important thing to maintain the relationship is sleep.
If a man can resist touching his wife, it means he no longer loves her, and the family they built will eventually fall apart.”
And since Xie Fangzhu had never been with Shen Yingying, it meant Xie Fangzhu didn’t like her, and they would eventually separate.
But today…
This was truly a lethal blow for Wu Xiaoxia.
In an instant, she became like a defeated rooster, without the strength to struggle. Her heart ached as if it were about to break, but even so, she stubbornly said:
“What’s so special about just sleeping? Do you think Brother Xie is that kind of shallow, lustful person? Do you think just this will…”
“Sorry,” Shen Yingying interrupted her with a mocking laugh. “He really is.”
Wu Xiaoxia refused to admit it. “Impossible!”
Seeing her like this, Shen Yingying felt quite pleased and leisurely said, “I told you, he doesn’t look at you—he just simply doesn’t think you’re worthy. But that doesn’t mean he’s like Liu Xia Hui. You haven’t seen how he behaves around me… tsk tsk tsk…”
The three meaningful “tsks” at the end inevitably made one’s mind wander.
Wu Xiaoxia was so angry that her face turned purple. She struggled violently and screamed, “Shen Yingying, I’ll fight you!”
Before she could even finish, she felt a sharp pain in her waist. Shen Yingying had taken the opportunity to pinch her waist with enough force that it made her tear up from the pain.
Just as Wu Xiaoxia tried to break free, Shen Yingying locked her hands tightly, rendering her completely immobile. At the same time, with a voice full of disdain, she said, “If you’re so tough, come on. Let’s see who can outplay who.”
Wu Xiaoxia was nearly driven mad. She twisted and struggled like a madwoman. “Shen Yingying, you’re not human! You’re shameless!”
Hearing the word “shameless,” Shen Yingying remembered that Xie Fangzhu had once said the same thing to her.
Back then, she had to pretend when speaking to the weak Xie Fangzhu, but now, in front of Wu Xiaoxia, there was no need to pretend anymore.
She nodded seriously, agreeing wholeheartedly, and said, “Ah, I am quite shameless, but compared to you, I’m still a little lacking.”
Wu Xiaoxia was so furious she nearly exploded, but at that moment, she couldn’t think of a retort. In the end, she could only angrily shout, “I’ll screw your mother!”
This didn’t faze Shen Yingying at all. She glanced back indifferently and said, “If you really have that thing, go ahead. I’ll just watch and see how you do it.”
After a brief pause, she added, “Oh, look, your Brother Xie is back. Xiaoxia, are you going to keep pretending? Or are you going to go mess with my mom in front of your Brother Xie?”
Wu Xiaoxia was startled and struggled to look back. Sure enough, a tall figure pushing a bicycle appeared on the hill.
She needed to act as though she had been bullied by Shen Yingying, so that Brother Xie would feel pity for her. This way, Brother Xie would patiently listen to her and stop being deceived by Shen Yingying!
Thinking this, she quickly adjusted her posture, slumped her shoulders, and gazed eagerly at the person walking toward them. She couldn’t believe that the clever Brother Xie wouldn’t be able to distinguish right from wrong.
Seeing her like this, Shen Yingying understood that Wu Xiaoxia wouldn’t lose control again anytime soon, so she confidently released the grip on her hands.
Then, she turned around and happily ran down the slope, calling out coquettishly, “Xie Fangzhu, you’re back—”
Wu Xiaoxia, who had been trying hard to hold it together: “???”
She turned around in shock, only to see Shen Yingying—who had just been forcefully holding her wrist—now prancing like a little deer, happily running toward Xie Fangzhu, who was pushing a bicycle.
She had never seen Shen Yingying act like this. Wasn’t Shen Yingying supposed to despise Xie Fangzhu to the point of hatred? Why was she showing such an attitude toward him?
Today, Shen Yingying was acting too strange!
Instantly, a sense of crisis surged from all directions. Fearing that Shen Yingying might do something even more astonishing, Wu Xiaoxia didn’t think twice and hurriedly chased after her.
