Chapter 70
Tang Wan and Tang Zhou, who had been smiling just a moment ago, suddenly looked at Lu Huaijing. Both of them were stunned.
Tang Zhou was confused, but Tang Wan reacted faster.
Perhaps the warmth of their recent days together had made her forget that Lu Huaijing could leave on a mission at any time.
Even though she could use her space better when he was gone, she didn’t know why, but at this moment, a pang of reluctance arose in her heart.
She quickly adjusted her emotions and asked him, “When are you leaving?”
How could she forget? It was still wartime. Missions were common.
“The day after tomorrow. It might be sooner.”
Lu Huaijing felt guilty. They had just gotten married, and he was going to leave. He didn’t know when he would return.
He really felt bad for her.
“Then I’ll pack your things.”
Tang Wan quickly smiled. They had only known each other for a short time. Saying that they had strong feelings for each other would be a lie.
So, although she felt reluctant, she quickly let go of it.
“No need to pack. Everything is provided.”
Perhaps her expression was too indifferent, and Lu Huaijing felt a strange feeling in his heart.
“Okay.”
Tang Wan said dryly, “Then be careful. I don’t want to be a widow.”
“I won’t give you that chance.”
Lu Huaijing’s eyes darkened. For the first time, he felt a pang of reluctance because he had to go on a mission.
“I’ll go wash up.”
His gaze was too intense. Tang Wan felt flustered and carried the basin to the small partition.
As soon as she closed the door, she went into her space. She looked at the undeveloped land in her space.
Tang Wan thought that she should take advantage of Lu Huaijing’s absence and tidy up the place.
Thinking this, Tang Wan took her farming tools and planted some bitter melon, loofah, and beans.
She worked up a sweat. Then Tang Wan washed up quickly and dried her hair in her space. She carried her washed clothes outside.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Lu Huaijing standing at the door, about to knock.
“You’ve been in there for so long. I was a little worried.”
“It’s okay. I just dried my hair before coming out.”
Tang Wan smiled at him. She carried the basin and went outside to hang the clothes. When she finished,
she didn’t bother with Lu Huaijing and Tang Zhou. They would figure things out on their own.
She went back to her room and continued reading the newspaper. It had become her daily routine.
It was still a long time before the college entrance exam was reinstated, so she wasn’t in a hurry to review.
After reading the newspaper, Tang Wan picked up her pen and started writing articles. She didn’t know why, but what she wrote today didn’t satisfy her.
She deleted and revised for a long time. She sighed at the messy draft.
“What’s wrong?”
Lu Huaijing came in and saw her staring at the paper on the table, lost in thought.
“Nothing. It’s just that what I wrote today isn’t very good. I’ll revise it tomorrow.”
Tang Wan put away the paper and pen. If she couldn’t write, she would put it aside. She never forced herself.
As she got up, she bumped into Lu Huaijing. He gently wrapped his arms around her.
“I’m sorry, wife.”
“Why are you suddenly apologizing?”
Tang Wan looked up into his gentle eyes. Her heart skipped a beat, and she tightened her grip on his clothes.
“We just got married, and we just moved to the family compound. I’m leaving you and Zhouzhou here…”
Lu Huaijing’s voice was soft. Her white fingertips landed on his lips. Tang Wan hushed him.
“Lu Huaijing, when I married you, I knew what I was facing.
Being a military wife, there’s no such thing as waiting. You don’t have to feel sorry for me. Do your best for the country. I’ll wait for you to come back.”
Hearing her, the soft and delicate wife in his eyes say such wise words, Lu Huaijing was shocked.
He thought she would be clingy and upset. He was even prepared to comfort her. He never expected her to say that.
If their initial attraction was based on looks, then at this moment, he felt like he had fallen into a trap called Tang Wan.
She understood him and supported him so well.
“Wife, you’re so understanding. I don’t know how to coax you.”
“Then be nice to me when you’re home.”
Tang Wan smiled. Her fingertips circled his shoulder. “You’re a man who does great things. I won’t confine you to a small world.”
“Yeah, I’ll listen to you when I’m home.”
Lu Huaijing hugged the little woman in his arms tightly. His heart was filled with contentment. They embraced.
Tang Wan leaned against Lu Huaijing’s chest. She smelled the pleasant scent of grass on him and heard his heart beating rapidly.
“Wife, I have to compensate you.”
Lu Huaijing’s magnetic voice fell into Tang Wan’s ears, sending a shiver down her spine.
Before she could understand what he meant, her body was lifted into the air by Lu Huaijing.
“Lu Huaijing…”
When Tang Wan understood his meaning, her fair face flushed as if painted with rosy clouds. Her fingertips instinctively tightened around his neck.
As their breaths intertwined, Lu Huaijing left one hot mark after another.
He knew that he had been out of control the other day, so he gave Tang Wan time to rest last night.
But he was leaving the day after tomorrow. Lu Huaijing didn’t plan to restrain himself anymore.
Tang Wan felt like she was being constantly hit by waves, rolling over one wave after another.
They were like fish and water, inextricably intertwined.
At first, Tang Wan was still conscious. Later, she was completely dizzy, enduring it all.
Before she fell asleep, she couldn’t help but complain, “It’s so tiring to marry a man with so much energy.”
But he didn’t know when he would return. She couldn’t help but feel a little reluctant to let him go. So she let him do his thing.
When she fell into a deep sleep, Lu Huaijing went to the kitchen and got some hot water. He gently wiped her down with tenderness.
When Tang Wan woke up, feeling refreshed, the man was no longer beside her. But she could still smell his crisp scent in the blankets.
After the first time, Tang Wan skillfully picked up the sugar water by the table and drank it. Then she drank a glass of spiritual spring water.
It was already bright outside. She tidied up the blankets and went out. Tang Zhou was sitting there, reading diligently.
The child knew to work hard now. Tang Wan smiled with satisfaction. “Zhouzhou, have you had breakfast?”
“Brother-in-law made porridge. I’ve eaten.”
Tang Zhou’s work was neat and tidy. Tang Wan didn’t bother him. She stretched and slowly went to the kitchen to wash up.
There was still a large vat of water in the water tank. Tang Wan quietly added a little spiritual spring water to it.
After breakfast, Tang Zhou’s excited voice came from outside. “Sister, Sister…”
“What’s wrong?”
Tang Wan ran out to the courtyard, her face full of confusion. She saw Tang Zhou squatting beside a row of green sprouts, his face full of joy.
“Sister, the vegetables we planted have sprouted!”
The child had never planted anything in the city. His amazed expression made Tang Wan laugh.
“Onions sprout faster.”
“When Brother-in-law comes back from his mission, the vegetables in the yard will be ready to eat.”
Tang Zhou sat there with his chin in his hand. He wanted to touch them, but he was too strong. He squeezed them, and the green sprouts broke.
Tang Zhou: …
He sat there dazedly. Tang Wan couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t touch them.”
Just as the siblings were feeling helpless, Zhang Hongyan came over with Wang Shengli. She greeted Tang Wan enthusiastically.
“Big Sister, do you want to go dig wild vegetables?”
