Chapter 79
Tang Wan had just gotten up when Lu Huaijing beside her opened his eyes. He pulled her back into his arms.
“Wife, get some more rest. Don’t worry about me.”
“I went to bed early last night, and I can’t fall back asleep now.”
Tang Wan pushed him away and got out of bed. Her legs were still a little sore. She said to Lu Huaijing nonchalantly,
“You can get dressed. I’ll make you breakfast. After I see you off, I’ll go see Mom and Dad in Mao Zhuang Brigade.”
She was afraid to be alone at home at night, so she would go early.
“Alright.”
Lu Huaijing saw that Tang Wan insisted, so he didn’t linger in the warm bed. He got up and got out of bed.
This guy didn’t have any clothes on. He got out of bed so casually, making Tang Wan’s ears turn red.
“Lu Huaijing, aren’t you embarrassed?”
“I know my wife likes to look.”
Lu Huaijing smirked. He had noticed that every time they interacted, his wife’s little hand would always touch his abs.
Tang Wan: !!!
Her face flushed red. She hurriedly put on her clothes and went out of the house.
How did this dog discover her little hobby?
Tang Wan fled in a panic. Looking at her back, Lu Huaijing smirked.
His little wife was so cute!
Tang Wan didn’t know what Lu Huaijing was thinking. After she washed up, she took some flour from the cupboard.
She cracked two eggs into it and started making pancakes.
When Lu Huaijing had finished packing his belongings, Tang Wan had already made breakfast.
A plate of pancakes, some boiled eggs, and beef sauce.
She also made two cups of malt extract, specially brewed with spiritual spring water.
“You and Zhouzhou can have this. I don’t need it.”
Lu Huaijing thought that he didn’t need this kind of nourishing drink.
But Tang Wan insisted. She poured a cup and put it in front of him. “Our family can afford it.
Let’s all have some. Didn’t you need to replenish your energy after last night?”
Her words made Lu Huaijing’s wheat-colored face stiffen. Meeting Tang Wan’s playful gaze, Lu Huaijing coughed lightly.
“Then I’ll have some.”
His wife was taking care of him.
Lu Huaijing’s heart was filled with joy. The malt extract tasted sweet in his mouth.
Meeting his lingering gaze, Tang Wan’s face flushed red. She sipped her malt extract.
“Be careful on your mission.”
She didn’t want to ask too much. After all, it was confidential.
They had a sweet breakfast together, and their relationship warmed up even more. But soon, it was time for him to leave.
Tang Wan saw him off at the gate. She had prepared herself mentally for a long time, but when the moment came, she still felt a tinge of reluctance.
“Wife, take care of yourself at home.”
Lu Huaijing gently hugged Tang Wan and kissed her on the forehead. Then he left with his bag.
He didn’t dare to look back, afraid that he would be reluctant to leave.
“Have a safe trip.”
Tang Wan wiped the warmth from the corners of her eyes. She watched Lu Huaijing walk away, and then she realized that she wasn’t the only one in the family compound who had gotten up early to see him off.
For example, Zhang Hongyan next door. They both saw their husbands off and smiled at each other before returning to their rooms.
Many people were still sleeping. Tang Wan went back to her room and warmed up the breakfast she had left for Tang Zhou.
She also took out a piece of paper and a pen and left a note on Tang Zhou’s bedside table.
Then, she took the breakfast she had prepared for her parents and rode her bicycle out of the family compound.
When she left, the family compound was quiet. Many people hadn’t woken up yet. The outside world was faintly lit.
When Tang Wan arrived at Mao Zhuang Brigade, it was already six ten.
Smoke was rising from every household. Some people had already gotten up to make breakfast, but most were still asleep.
Tang Wan put away her bicycle at the entrance of the village. She skillfully walked along the foot of the mountain.
She carried a basket and walked quickly. She was thinking about how to avoid waking up her parents precisely while avoiding the other people in the cowshed.
Before she could figure it out, she heard Qin Su’s voice.
“Let me go…”
Her voice was choked with sobs. Tang Wan had a bad feeling. She picked up a stick.
She saw something from afar that made her furious!
She saw a dark figure bullying Qin Su. Qin Su kept dodging, almost falling into a pit.
“Damn it, what are you pretending for? With someone like you, I don’t know how many men you’ve served…”
The vulgar words reached Tang Wan’s ears. She trembled with anger and ran towards the man with the stick.
“You’re lying!”
Qin Su’s face was full of tears. She hugged herself tightly, trying to run, but she couldn’t outrun him.
She wanted to shout for Tang Shi, but she was afraid that the villagers would see.
Then, they wouldn’t blame this bastard. They would only say that she was immoral.
She couldn’t escape.
She couldn’t escape!
Qin Su closed her eyes in pain. When she opened them again, her gaze fell on the large stone nearby. I’m sorry, Shige. I can’t hold on anymore!
Just as Qin Su struggled to run towards the stone, the man in front of her was knocked unconscious with a stick.
Tang Wan’s movements were swift. She kicked the man aside and hugged Qin Su with concern.
“Mom, don’t be afraid. It’s me!”
“Wanyuan?”
Qin Su’s head was buzzing. She was dazed, but when she heard Tang Wan’s voice, she immediately became clear-headed.
“It’s me.”
Tang Wan hugged Qin Su tightly. She gritted her teeth and glared at the man lying on the ground.
“Where’s Dad?”
“Your dad went down the mountain carrying firewood.”
Qin Su didn’t want Tang Wan to see her in such a sorry state. She said to Tang Wan,
“Wanyuan, why are you here? This man is a well-known troublemaker in Mao Zhuang Brigade.
Go quickly. Don’t let him see you.”
“He dared to bully you. How could I let him get away with it!”
Tang Wan gnashed her teeth and was about to go forward with the stick, but Qin Su stopped her.
“Wanyuan, wait for your dad. You go first.”
“What do you mean, ‘wait for me’?”
Tang Shi hadn’t seen the troublemaker on the ground yet. When he saw Tang Wan, his face lit up with a smile.
The next second, he saw the man on the ground, and his smile disappeared.
“What happened?!”
Tang Shi was so angry that he wanted to swing his sickle. Qin Su pressed him down.
“Shige, calm down first.”
“How can I calm down?”
Tang Shi wasn’t stupid. He guessed what had happened in an instant. Thinking about what could have happened, he wanted to go crazy.
“Dad, let’s do something big!”
Tang Wan wasn’t one to hold back. She looked at the trembling Qin Su.
“Mom, if you give in, he won’t be grateful. He’ll only bully you even worse.”
“What should we do then?”
Qin Su’s eyes were red, and her voice trembled. “We… we can’t kill him, can we?”
“We can’t kill him, but we can ruin his reputation. From now on, even if he wants to bully you, the villagers won’t believe him.”
A flash of ruthlessness crossed Tang Wan’s eyes. Qin Su was startled, but she didn’t expect Tang Shi’s thoughts to be surprisingly in line with Tang Wan’s.
“Wanyuan, Dad will listen to you.”
Tang Shi thought, I’ll clean up the mess if my daughter doesn’t think of something.
They looked at each other, their eyes filled with understanding.
“A scumbag like Mao Goudan shouldn’t be allowed to live so easily.”
Tang Wan snorted. She picked up the stick and went forward. First, she covered his mouth with cloth.
