Chapter 88
Qiu Dazhao was scolding furiously. Xu Heping and Xu Weimin stood behind her, and Xu Heping shouted.
“Grandma, it wasn’t Tang Zhou who hit me!”
He just wanted to grab a few grapes from Wang Shengli while Tang Zhou was away, but he didn’t expect Tang Zhou to return.
“You’re still defending him, Weimin admitted it!”
Qiu Dazhao was so angry that her chest hurt. How could she have such a cowardly grandson?
Because of her commotion, many people poked their heads out to watch.
“Auntie, you’re disturbing the peace!”
Tang Wan stood at the door with a cold face, facing Qiu Dazhao outside the courtyard gate.
Upon seeing her, Qiu Dazhao became excited, “Your brother beat my grandson, you have to give me an explanation. First apologize and then pay, otherwise this matter is not over!”
“Ask your grandson, did my brother beat him for no reason?”
Tang Wan didn’t miss Xu Heping’s words. Her gaze fell on Xu Heping.
Xu Heping shrunk his neck in fear, “Grandma, let’s go back!”
“Go back to hell!”
Qiu Dazhao was heartbroken, “How could my son have given birth to such a coward?”
“I’m not a coward.”
Xu Heping clenched his fists tightly. His younger brother directly contradicted him, “You’re afraid of Tang Zhou beating you.”
Little Xu Weimin didn’t understand anything else, he only knew that Tang Zhou and Wang Shengli didn’t give him grapes.
“I’m not afraid!”
Xu Heping straightened his neck with a false bravado, but when he met Tang Wan’s piercing gaze, he was afraid again.
Tang Zhou also came out at this time. He coldly glanced at Xu Heping, scaring Xu Heping back a few steps.
Qiu Dazhao glared fiercely at Tang Zhou, “You still say your brother didn’t hit my grandson. Look how scared he is of my grandson, everyone come and judge for me, an old woman.”
Her voice was loud, and she howled so that the nearby neighbors came to watch.
Cheng Xiaoyue was even more eager to watch the show, “Sister-in-law, this is your fault. How can you let your brother run wild in the courtyard? Don’t let him ruin the atmosphere of the courtyard.”
Hearing this, several military wives in the courtyard looked at Tang Zhou with fear.
Meeting her malicious gaze, Tang Wan opened the courtyard door and walked out, before Cheng Xiaoyue could finish laughing.
Tang Wan slapped her directly, her voice cold.
“You insult my brother and ruin his reputation without knowing the truth. Don’t think I won’t beat you!”
“You hit me?!”
Cheng Xiaoyue had always seen Tang Wan as gentle, she didn’t know that she could be so ruthless. Her face was burning with pain, her head was buzzing, and she instinctively wanted to grab Tang Wan’s hair.
But before she could retaliate, Tang Wan had already grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground.
“My brother is like me, even if he beats someone, it’s not without reason. People don’t offend me, I don’t offend them. If someone bullies me, I’m not a pushover!”
When Lu Huaijing was around, Tang Wan was always very gentle, so everyone was surprised by her sudden fierceness.
She said those last words to Qiu Dazhao, and the originally confident Qiu Dazhao suddenly felt a little guilty.
She threatened Xu Weimin, “Weimin, your brother is afraid of these two vicious siblings, you tell them.”
“I…”
Xu Weimin was so scared by Tang Wan’s aura that his legs went weak. He was holding back tears.
“It was him who hit my brother!”
He pointed at Tang Zhou, his voice was full of grievance and whimpering, which was quite convincing.
The military dependents watching immediately believed it, thinking that such a small child wouldn’t lie.
They immediately looked at Tang Zhou with disapproval.
“This child is so reckless, bullying others. I have to watch my own child from now on, lest he gets bullied.”
“The deputy regiment leader’s wife looks delicate and weak, but she’s actually tough. Her brother must be no slouch either.”
“This is the courtyard, you can’t just go around beating people. You’ll be punished.”
“…”
These whispers reached Tang Zhou’s ears, and his face turned pale.
Tang Wan pressed the disheveled Cheng Xiaoyue to the ground and walked a few steps to Tang Zhou.
“Zhouzhou, you haven’t done anything wrong, don’t be afraid.”
“Vixen!”
Cheng Xiaoyue had hit her lip when she fell, and it was bleeding. She glared at Tang Wan with even more hatred!
“Are you complaining that I didn’t beat you hard enough?”
Tang Wan narrowed her eyes, scaring Cheng Xiaoyue to hide behind Xu Cuiying. Xu Cuiying was beaming with joy.
Cheng Xiaoyue deserved to be disciplined by Tang Wan!
“They stole my things.”
Wang Shengli ran out of the small courtyard when he heard the commotion, and Zhang Hongyan followed close behind.
“What happened? Who bullied you, Shengli?”
“Brother Zhou gave me grapes, they wanted to steal my grapes and beat me. Brother Zhou protected me!”
Wang Shengli, though young, was articulate. He explained the situation in a few sentences.
Qiu Dazhao, who had been puffed up with pride, suddenly deflated. She still wanted to argue.
“Who knows if you two are in cahoots, just trying to bully my grandson!”
“I didn’t!”
Wang Shengli lifted his pants leg, revealing a bruise on his leg, from falling to the ground.
Zhang Hongyan, who had been unaware of her son being bullied, was furious.
“Shengli, why didn’t you tell your mother?”
“Mom, Brother Zhou helped me. It doesn’t hurt.”
Wang Shengli held back his tears. Brother Zhou was right, he was a man, what was wrong with a man enduring a little hardship?
Zhang Hongyan looked at Tang Wan and Tang Zhou with gratitude, her lungs were about to explode.
“Auntie, your grandson beat my son, how do you want to settle this?”
“I told you, my brother wouldn’t bully a child for no reason. My brother is a hero!”
Tang Wan’s disdainful gaze swept over Qiu Dazhao, her face felt like it had been slapped, burning with pain.
But Qiu Dazhao was Qiu Dazhao, she was never one to reason. She put her hands on her hips.
“What’s all the fuss about? Your son isn’t very friendly either, he has grapes and hides them all to himself, he doesn’t even give my grandson a single one.”
Her confident tone made everyone present feel hot under the collar.
So it was wrong that they didn’t give her family food?
“My goodness, Xu Tuanzhang is such a good man, how could he have such a mother?”
“These two children weren’t like this when their mother was alive, how did they turn out like this?”
“This is too domineering…”
Sensing the disapproval in everyone’s eyes, Qiu Dazhao felt even more uneasy.
“It’s normal for children to fight and squabble.”
“You didn’t say that before.”
Tang Wan sneered, “You wanted an apology and compensation, and I was supposed to do what you said. You can start fires but I can’t even light a lamp!”
Xia Qing was still at work in the hospital and couldn’t help her.
Qiu Dazhao’s face flushed red with anger, but Zhang Hongyan and Tang Wan were a team. She carefully examined Wang Shengli’s leg and said forcefully, “Big sister is right. Your grandson bullied my son, apologize and pay compensation!”
