Shen Yuling remained in a coma at De Ren Tang for a full five days.
On the fifth day, she finally awakened.
During these days, Feng Moheng visited her whenever he could spare a moment.
The longer Shen Yuling stayed unconscious, the heavier Feng Moheng’s heart felt, and he became increasingly fearful.
He feared that Shen Yuling might never wake up.
He couldn’t even bear to think about what he would do if she truly never awakened.
Why had Shen Yuling come to occupy such an important place in his heart?
Every time he thought that she might not wake, he found it impossible to sleep while accompanying Liu Jingyi in Sujin Courtyard, tossing and turning through the night.
Her pale and fragile face lingered in his mind, impossible to shake off.
Today, Feng Moheng was having a meal with Liu Jingyi in Sujin Courtyard.
The room was quiet, only the occasional sound of chopsticks clinking against bowls could be heard.
Liu Jingyi’s wound had healed well, and she could now get out of bed to move around, though her body was still recovering, so her meals consisted of light foods.
As she quietly ate, she discreetly stole glances at Feng Moheng.
He seemed somewhat absent-minded, lost in thought.
Liu Jingyi’s grip on her chopsticks tightened involuntarily, her knuckles turning slightly white.
He must be thinking about Shen Yuling again.
In recent days, Feng Moheng had been struggling to sleep beside her each night, restless and anxious.
One night, he even dreamt about worrying for Shen Yuling, softly murmuring her name in his sleep.
Though his voice was quiet, it pierced Liu Jingyi’s heart like a sharp needle.
She truly couldn’t comprehend why what she had done for Feng Moheng was not enough.
Why wouldn’t he give his true heart to her?
All those sweet words he had said before were nothing but lies!
Was it destined to be that the male and female leads could only love each other?
Her sister had specifically hired assassins from the martial world to deal with Shen Yuling.
Yet they had failed to take Shen Yuling’s life.
The female lead’s aura was indeed strong!
Suddenly, a maid entered the room, a maid from Feng Moheng’s courtyard.
“Your Highness, news from De Ren Tang says that the princess has awakened,” the maid reported.
Feng Moheng’s previously unfocused gaze instantly sharpened.
He couldn’t care less about anything else.
“Jingyi, I need to check on Shen Yuling’s condition.”
As he spoke, he stood up and prepared to leave.
Before Liu Jingyi could say anything to retain him, his figure quickly vanished at the door.
“Bang—”
Liu Jingyi grew furious, abruptly sweeping her sleeve.
The bowls and chopsticks on the table clattered to the floor, producing a series of sharp sounds.
It was particularly jarring, much like her shattered heart at that moment.
Before long, Feng Moheng arrived at De Ren Tang.
At this time, Physician Su stood inside the room, furrowing his brows.
He was assessing Shen Yuling’s condition while considering the appropriate medicine to prescribe.
Shen Yuling was leaning against the head of the bed, appearing somewhat fatigued as she sipped the tea Xi Tong had handed her.
When Feng Moheng pushed the door open, Shen Yuling instinctively turned her gaze toward him.
However, her eyes were filled with confusion.
She then shifted her gaze to Xi Tong, as if asking who he was.
Xi Tong frowned and quickly said, “Princess, this is His Highness, the prince, your husband.”
Feng Moheng met Shen Yuling’s bewildered gaze.
His heart tightened, and he anxiously asked, “What happened to her?! Why doesn’t she remember me?”
Xi Tong’s expression showed difficulty.
“Your Highness, after the master woke up, she seems to have forgotten many things…”
Feng Moheng was momentarily stunned.
Without another word, he strode to the bedside, creating a gentle breeze as he moved.
Physician Su, who had been treating Shen Yuling, quickly recognized the situation and stepped aside.
He then leisurely took a seat on a nearby stool, picking up a pen from the table and focusing on writing a prescription.
Seeing Feng Moheng approaching with such intensity, Shen Yuling felt a twinge of fear.
She instinctively shrank back towards the inner side of the bed, her eyes betraying a hint of wariness and unease.
Feng Moheng had no choice but to stop.
He stood at the bedside, his hands unconsciously clenching into fists, his lips pressed tightly together.
An oppressive emotion was evident on his face.
“Do you really not remember me?”
Feng Moheng’s voice trembled slightly as he stared intently at Shen Yuling.
Shen Yuling raised her head, her beautiful fox-like eyes wide and innocent as she looked at him.
She silently shook her head.
Her expression was both pure and heart-wrenching.
Feng Moheng’s spirits immediately sank.
Shen Yuling seemed to sense his mood.
After hesitating for a moment, she slowly shifted closer to him.
“Xi Tong said you are my husband.”
Her eyes sparkled brightly.
Feng Moheng sat down by the bedside and gently responded, “Yes, I am your husband.”
“What do you remember now?”
He continued to ask, his tone still soft, though the worry in his eyes was impossible to hide.
Shen Yuling frowned slightly, pondering for a moment.
She finally said, “It seems I can’t remember much after arriving in Qianjing; I still remember everything from before.”
Feng Moheng visibly grew more despondent.
The woman who had professed her love for him had lost her memory, and what she had forgotten were the memories after arriving in Qianjing.
Then…
Did she not remember how they had respected each other when they first met, or the deep affection that followed?
Shen Yuling felt his emotions.
She sat up and wrapped her arms around his waist.
Then she leaned her head against Feng Moheng’s shoulder, her movements natural and intimate.
“Don’t be sad, husband. Even if I don’t remember many things, I still like you the most.”
Her voice was soft and sweet.
Upon hearing the words “the most,” Feng Moheng instinctively turned his head.
Their eyes met.
Even though she had lost her memory, at this moment, she blinked her long lashes and smiled sweetly at him.
The sight was enough to melt anyone’s heart.
Yes, even if she had amnesia, she was still the Shen Yuling who loved him the most.
As long as he was her husband, she would like him and love him.
Just like Shen Yuling’s father loved her mother.
Feng Moheng reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist.
He gently rubbed his face against Shen Yuling’s cheek.
The gesture was full of affection and tenderness.
“May my lady be well and may the years be peaceful.”
Feng Moheng whispered in her ear, his voice low and gentle.
Shen Yuling felt an immense joy in her heart.
Waking up to such a handsome husband was indeed a stroke of good fortune.
“My husband is as handsome as jade, elegant and extraordinary. I fell for you at first sight and cannot help myself.”
Shen Yuling lifted her head, gazing at Feng Moheng, her eyes brimming with admiration.
