Chapter 18: Being kicked out by sister-in-law
“Get out!”
Lin Moran’s eyes were icy, her finger pointing angrily at the door.
Using the same embrace he used to hold Xu Jingya to hold her it was disgusting.
“Impossible!”
Gu Jingyao’s expression was even darker, standing in the room like a rock, letting Lin Moran push him.
Naturally, Lin Moran couldn’t push him.
He was tall, his legs steady, his muscles hard as stone, stable and immovable like a mountain. His handsome face was resolute, with the air of someone who wouldn’t leave no matter what.
Seeing Gu Jingyao’s stubbornness, Lin Moran paused for a moment, then suddenly smiled, “Heh.”
“What are you laughing at?”
“Gu Jingyao, I want to know what you’re thinking. Someone reported me, and after you searched, shouldn’t you report your findings? Why are you lingering here?”
“Report to the informant?”
Gu Jingyao’s eyes narrowed slightly, his expression puzzled and displeased.
“Shouldn’t you?”
Lin Moran sneered. What was Gu Jingyao pretending in front of her?
The only person she knew at Ningjiayuan tonight was Xu Jingya.
Xu Jingya followed her, eyeing her treasures.
She also knew that Lin Moran had stood for a long time in front of the bronze ware.
Without a doubt, the informant was most likely Xu Jingya.
Gu Jingyao, on one hand, came to investigate her because of the report, and on the other hand, he didn’t want to leave after the investigation.
“Moran, aren’t you misunderstanding something?”
“What am I misunderstanding? This is your job.”
“Your work is done, now you should go back to where you should be.”
“My room is small, it can’t fit you.”
Gu Jingyao looked at Lin Moran, tirelessly trying to get him to leave, his voice hoarse and slow, “Get some rest.”
He walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
As soon as the door closed, Lin Moran immediately fastened the door bolt.
The door was easily kicked down; she would have to install more door bolts in the room tomorrow.
Gu Jingyao didn’t go far. After walking around the yard, he returned to Lin Moran’s room.
There was a small stool by the door, and he sat down.
Looking up at the starry sky, the stars twinkled, as if they could be reached out and touched, but they were actually far away.
Just like Lin Moran now.
A child’s sleepy, milky voice came from inside the room, “Mom, where’s Dad?”
“Zhezhe, go to sleep, Dad is busy.”
“Mom, Quanbao just dreamed of Dad, but Dad seemed angry.”
“Quanbao wants to get up, but Quanbao can’t get up, Quanbao is so sleepy.”
After a moment of silence in the room, a gentle patting sound on a child’s shoulder was heard, “Quanbao must be too sleepy to have such a dream. It’s okay, go to sleep, Mom will sleep with Quanbao.”
Lin Moran’s voice was gentle and clear, like flowing water gently flowing in the night, with a heavy force, calming and reassuring.
“Sleep, sleep, my little darling… Mom loves you, Mom loves you… Little darling, sleep well, sleep well…”
A gentle humming sound came from the room, soft and gentle, soothing everything in the world.
Gu Jingyao sat on the small stool, listening to the long-lost song, the corners of his mouth raised. At this moment, his heart was calm and peaceful.
Wu Kairui didn’t sleep well all night.
He tossed and turned countless times on his hard bed, unable to sleep, and got up early.
He spread out the stationery and wrote a self-criticism with great awareness.
Then he prepared to go to work and planned to perform well.
He went to work early and left late, striving to prove himself a dedicated comrade through action.
On the way to work, the sky was just beginning to brighten, and he smelled the strong aroma of buns from a roadside stall. He stopped.
He changed his mind and bought eight buns.
Then he circled around and went to Lin Moran’s place.
Besides working hard, he decided to buy breakfast for his sister-in-law and child every day to impress them.
He hung the breakfast on their door without telling her.
She would be even more moved when she discovered it.
Wu Kairui thought this was a good idea and excitedly walked into the courtyard.
Before he reached Lin Moran’s room, he saw Gu Jingyao sitting on a small stool, leaning against the door wall, sleeping.
Wu Kairui froze.
He instantly became a little flustered.
He underestimated the impact of yesterday’s incident and underestimated his sister-in-law’s temper.
His sister-in-law said she would cooperate and understand them.
She immediately chased his leader out of the house.
Judging by his leader’s sleeping posture, he must have been outside all night.
After yesterday’s incident, Wu Kairui pondered for a few seconds, then immediately turned around and went back to the unit.
As he turned around, he felt a little apprehensive.
Fortunately, he ran fast enough. If Gu Jingyao knew he saw his embarrassing situation, he would probably transfer him.
But he had so many buns left, he could only eat them sadly himself.
“Wu Kairui, you’re very proactive at work. You’re also very proactive at eating breakfast.”
As Wu Kairui cleaned up his desk and prepared to continue eating buns, a low, slightly hoarse voice sounded above his head.
Gu Jingyao had arrived.
“My mother said that breakfast is important and that you must eat it. If you don’t, you’ll get sick. Boss, did you have breakfast? I bought a few extra, let’s eat together.”
Wu Kairui enthusiastically invited Gu Jingyao.
Gu Jingyao was indeed hungry and didn’t hesitate to take a bun.
“Boss, did you sleep well last night?”
Wu Kairui asked cautiously.
Gu Jingyao paused his hand holding the bun, “Hmm?”
“I mean, I was indeed reckless last night. Later, did your sister-in-law forgive us?”
Gu Jingyao’s lips curled up slightly, “Your sister-in-law isn’t that petty. She is very supportive and understanding of our work.”
Although he slept at the door last night, it was one of the most comfortable nights he had slept in a long time.
Except for a stiff and sore neck.
Wu Kairui looked at Gu Jingyao with a complicated expression.
Boss, you were chased out, and you’re still saying your sister-in-law isn’t petty. The boss’s world is broader than the ocean.
“I had a good sleep last night. Wu Kairui, bring the case files from yesterday; let’s go over them later.”
Wu Kairui nodded, “Okay, right away.”
He really didn’t have the heart to expose his leader; his leader was very concerned about his image.
He must protect his leader’s image.
“Also, who was the informant yesterday? Find out.”
Gu Jingyao instructed.
“Oh, okay.”
After Lin Moran got up and prepared breakfast for her child, she prepared to deal with the two large items she brought back last night.
The jade had to be cut open to see if it was real jade and whether it could be used.
She decided to start by cleaning the Fahua Meiping vase she had picked up cheaply from Wang Yunfeng last night.
The vase was dusty and dirty, with stains, rust, and serious lead contamination.
Usually, porcelain vases can be cleaned by soaking them in disinfectant and washing them.
The Fahua Meiping vase’s craftsmanship is more complex than ordinary ones, and it’s not easy to clean.
After soaking the vase, she used a toothbrush with toothpaste to clean the dirt and stains.
Then, she used dilute nitric acid to wipe off the water rust and lead, a process that requires extreme care, as it can easily damage the glaze.
After working for half a day, the true form of the Fahua Meiping vase appeared before her.
Looking at the cleaned Fahua Meiping vase, Lin Moran’s eyes were full of surprise.
Beautiful!
It was truly beautiful!
The glaze was crystal clear and plump, and the shape was elegant and dignified.
The body of the vase had a peacock blue background, with raised lines outlining the design, forming three-layered three-dimensional decorations of concave, flat, and convex, with both neat patterns and traditional painting styles, exuding a fresh and elegant aura.
In her years on Liuli Street, she had never seen such a complete and undamaged Fahua Meiping vase.
If this vase could be auctioned abroad, it would definitely fetch a high price.
Last night, when she picked it up, Xu Jingya showed disgust at first sight.
If she saw this vase now, she would definitely regret it.
The only flaw was that the glaze had peeled off quite severely at the bottom of the vase.
To maximize the value of this Fahua ware, the best way is to repair it, adding color and repairing the damaged glaze.
Porcelain restoration has a professional process, and if you are not careful, it can backfire, damaging the structure of the entire vase, turning a good vase into a broken one.
Lin Moran also had this concern, but she still decided to try.
First, the restorer she was looking for was her grandfather’s eldest disciple, who was now in Jingdezhen and had superb skills; second, the body of the Fahua ware is the same as that of glass ware, and the glaze formula is also largely the same as that of glass ware, only the flux is different, so there is a way to repair it, reducing the risk of repair.
After putting the vase away, she called her master in Jingdezhen, who quickly replied, asking her to send it over, repairing it if possible, or returning it if not.
After dealing with the vase, Lin Moran put the jade back on the back of her bicycle and rode to a corner of Liuli Street, stopping at a jade processing shop.
“Uncle Wang, take a look at this jade.”
Lin Moran took the stone down.
Master Wang, the jade processing master, used to be a master in Liuli Factory. Later, because of his background, he was sent down to Fengxian County. When he was bullied, Lin Moran’s grandfather stood up and protected him.
After being rehabilitated, he returned to Kyoto, but his original job was taken by someone else. The street office kept saying they would arrange work for him, but they never did.
Later, he simply rented a small shop from the street office and started his old jade processing business.
After the antique market boomed, his jade processing and selling business became better, earning more than he did in the factory, so he simply didn’t go back to work at the factory.
“You stubborn girl, how much junk have you picked up before, and now this again?”
Old Wang helped Lin Moran carry the jade down, joking, “It seems I don’t need to buy materials for my floor.”
Lin Moran’s face flushed slightly, “Failure is the mother of success. I will succeed eventually.”
“Okay, let’s see what we have. I’ll know with one cut.”
Old Wang took the water-cooled saw and started cutting the jade.
Lin Moran stood aside, a little nervous.
Over the years, she had indeed bought stones often, and almost never found any good jade.
She had failed many times, but when faced with another attempt, she couldn’t help but be nervous.
She was a little afraid to face her failure.
When the water-cooled saw went down, she immediately closed her eyes.
When she opened them again and saw the material inside the jade, her eyes lit up instantly.
