She’s an Overpowered Passerby Chapter 14

Chapter 14

The students were exhausted after a sleepless night, with many of them sporting dark circles under their eyes when they gathered the next day. However, their spirits lifted when the instructor announced that they would be visiting the military academy’s weapons exhibition hall.

Although the empire had not issued any bans, citizens could purchase weapons after registering with the authorities. However, the weapons accessible to ordinary people were clearly not on the same level as those displayed at the military academy. Moreover, the students were still young, and apart from a few with special family backgrounds, most had never truly interacted with weapons before.

The exhibition hall looked like an ordinary building from the outside, but inside it contained all types of individual weapons, from ancient cold weapons to modern popular mechs, from small daggers to large particle cannons, a veritable history of human weapon evolution.

Song Chunshi looked at each item, asking the nearby robot to explain anything she didn’t understand.

Although she had always used daggers and bows and arrows, and probably wouldn’t use these high-tech weapons in the future, she couldn’t rule out the possibility of her opponents using them. It was always better to know your enemy.

The mech display area was the most crowded, with everyone’s eyes shining brightly.

Song Chunshi looked up for a while and said to the system, “Is it because it’s not activated? I feel like this mech isn’t as powerful as Carol’s.”

“Host, you’re right. Compared to that big guy, this one is about two levels lower in strength.”

“What’s the reason?” There were too many people crowding around, so she couldn’t find a machine intelligence to explain. Just as she was about to ask Alan if he knew, she suddenly realized that she hadn’t seen him for a while.

The system reminded her, “That little fatty said he went to the bathroom.”

“That was twenty minutes ago.” As long as his intestines were okay, that time was enough for him to run to the bathroom twice.

Song Chunshi squeezed out of the crowd, looked around, and walked towards the sign for the restroom.

She hadn’t even knocked on the door when she heard Alan’s voice.

“…I don’t recommend you do that, because I recognize each of you. The second son of the Coram family, the youngest daughter of the Boli family, and the cousin of the Zhou family. Now you’re targeting me, and your families will be retaliated against afterwards.”

“Oh, the little fatty is being bullied.” The system was not averse to stirring up trouble.

Someone inside the restroom sneered, “Joke, you’re so arrogant. Who do you think you are? You want to fight, then fight!”

Alan seemed to sigh, and his next words flowed as if he had said them a thousand times, “My sister is Alexandra Lane Garcia, the current head of the Garcia family. I am her only biological brother. She once said that all the oppression directed at me would be repaid tenfold, a hundredfold. And every time, she has delivered.”

The restroom fell silent for a few seconds, then a cowardly voice sounded, “…We’ll let you off this time. I advise you to stay away from that savage from the barren planet. We’re leaving!”

But at that moment, Song Chunshi pushed open the door. In the astonished gazes of everyone present, she pretended to adjust her non-existent sleeves, then punched each of them, knocking them all to the ground.

“You, you dare hit us!” The three of them lay on the ground in the same posture, covering their faces, shouting in disbelief.

Song Chunshi laughed and retorted, “Who do you think you are? You want to fight, then fight. I advise you to stay away from the people around me, or I’ll beat you up every time I see you. Alan, let’s go.”

She turned and left. From entering the bathroom to beating them up, to warning them and then leaving, it took less than thirty seconds.

When she was almost gone, Alan finally reacted and quickly ran after her, his eyes shining, “Chunshi Chunshi, you were so cool just now!”

“You’re not bad either.” Song Chunshi glanced at him. His serious expression of warning was quite convincing. However, “Do you know them?”

Flattered by her praise, Alan’s round face was split by a wide smile. After he finished laughing, he shook his head, “Not really, but I remember their basic information.”

Song Chunshi’s eyes widened slightly, and she casually gestured towards the freshmen in front of her, “The information of everyone?”

“Everyone.” Alan confirmed with a nod.

There were over 500 new students this year, and Song Chunshi was speechless.

Even the system couldn’t help but exclaim, “He’s really a talent.”

Alan scratched his head, a little embarrassed as he added, “It was my sister’s request. She said I was weak and stupid, so I could only memorize all the people I might meet in advance, so as not to offend anyone I shouldn’t. If anyone bullies me, I’ll remember them too, and she’ll help me get revenge afterwards.”

The system immediately changed its tune, “His sister is really a talent.”

The mech display area was still crowded. Standing on the outskirts, Song Chunshi asked, “Are mechs also classified by levels?”

Alan nodded, “This is the eighth-generation standard mech. Currently, the majority of mechs in service in the military are ninth-generation, and it is said that the tenth-generation is about to be released.”

“Do you know about Carol’s mech?” she asked again.

Alan hesitated for a moment before realizing, “You mean Instructor Carol Nofi?”

What was Carol’s last name again? Song Chunshi tilted her head and thought, it seemed to be Nofi, “Yes.”

“His mech is called Bal, the name of a legendary demon, a work by the famous mechanical master Li Keji. It’s a custom-made mech. Generally speaking, custom-made mechs are more powerful than standard mechs.”

Song Chunshi hadn’t expected that Carol’s mech, which looked so cool, had such a middle-school name. Did it also have a companion called Satan?

After listening to Alan’s explanation, she finally understood that even in the interstellar age, mechs were considered cutting-edge weapons, completely out of reach for ordinary people. If she had to make an analogy, standard mechs could be considered finished garments from top luxury brands, while custom-made mechs were the high-end custom series, the kind where you have to wait in line to buy them.

“I never realized Carol was so rich.” She muttered to herself.

The encyclopedia Alan was online again, “The Nofi family is famous for weapon manufacturing. Although Instructor Carol Nofi is not in the line of succession, he can still enjoy dividends.”

Song Chunshi immediately felt sour. He had money without doing anything. Carol was the real winner in life!

She looked at the mech in front of her again, her eyes—

“Let’s add a touch of class struggle to it.  [System, defeating this mech should be easier, right?”

Previously, the system had said that to defeat Carol’s mech, her internal energy would need to reach its peak and she would need a battle sword worth 9999 energy points.

That goal seemed a bit far off, so she wanted to set a smaller, shorter-term goal for herself.

The system quickly responded, “That’s right, Host. You only need to cultivate your internal energy to a minor level and purchase a weapon that can withstand internal energy infusion, and you will have a chance to defeat the mech in front of you.”

It also listed the prices of the corresponding weapons. This time, it was much cheaper than 9999, but seeing that the starting price was at least 999, Song Chunshi hissed, feeling a little toothache.

After the training was over, she would quickly go online to see if there were any ways to make money, or if there were any unclaimed energy mines she could dig. If all else failed, she would go hunt star beasts and sell them.

After a short afternoon of free exploration, the instructor signaled for all the students to gather, leading them to the shooting range.

Another instructor was already waiting at the shooting range. He held a particle gun in his hand and explained the usage and posture to the students. Afterwards, he didn’t aim specifically, as if he was just shooting casually. With several consecutive shots, the intelligent voice reported his score.

“9.99, 9.97, 10.00, 9.99, 9.98.”

“Wow, Instructor, your skills are amazing!” The students cheered.

The instructor smiled and waved his hand, pretending to be humble, “I’m getting old, my eyesight isn’t good. Anyone want to try? Although you’ll be practicing later, only the particle gun in my hand is real, the others have no real killing power.”

There was no way around it. In the past, there were always students who hit themselves or their classmates. For the sake of the freshmen’s lives, they could only use the simulated shooting range.

Hearing this, the students quickly raised their hands, “Me, me, me! Instructor, choose me!”

The instructor chose a student in the front row. The boy probably hadn’t had much contact with weapons before, and after shooting a few targets, his best score was only 5.6. He didn’t feel embarrassed and returned to his team with a cheerful laugh amidst the laughter of others.

“Who else is next?” The instructor’s gaze swept over the crowd, “Wu Lanshuang? You come and demonstrate for everyone.”

Song Chunshi saw a tall girl step forward. She had long black hair tied in a high ponytail, and her eyes were a beautiful green, like new shoots in a forest, very eye-catching.

She remembered Alan saying that Wu Lanshuang’s grandfather was a legion commander, and she should be more familiar with weapons than ordinary people.

Sure enough, Wu Lanshuang’s posture holding the particle gun was more standardized than the instructor’s casual stance. After five consecutive shots, the machine reported the score.

“9.96, 9.95, 9.95, 9.97, 9.96.”

Although not as good as the instructor’s, this score was impressive enough to amaze everyone for her age.

The students applauded in unison, “Amazing!”

” As expected of someone from a military family, she didn’t miss a single shot!”

With this gem in front of them, the instructor called on several more students, but none of them were as impressive until—

“Song Chunshi, you try.”

The shooting range seemed to fall silent for a moment.

After yesterday, everyone already knew that the girl named Song Chunshi came from a barren planet and was skilled in martial arts and cold weapons. Although her skills were indeed impressive, with her previous living conditions, she might not even have touched a particle gun before. Going up there would only be a joke, right?

Song Chunshi’s face showed no change. She walked to the front and took the gun the instructor handed her.

This was indeed the first time she had touched such a weapon. The feel was very different. She turned her wrist to get a feel for it for a few seconds, then raised her hand and fired.

“4.45.”

As soon as the score was announced, someone in the crowd let out a piercing laugh, and others whispered among themselves.

“As expected…”

“…Savage from a barren planet…”

Song Chunshi ignored them. She silently felt the direction and speed of the first shot, adjusted her posture slightly, and fired the second shot slowly and steadily.

“8.80.”

The chatter immediately died down. This number was better than most of the students just now.

Then came the third shot.

“9.55.”

Someone exclaimed in disbelief, “She’s improving so fast, how is that possible?!”

Before everyone could be shocked, the gunshots became more frequent. Soon it was the fourth shot.

“10.00.”

The fifth shot.

“10.00.”

The sixth shot.

“10.00.”
