She’s Being Naughty! Time To Coax Her Chapter 29

Chapter 29: I Thought It Was Only You

Ji Shuyi had originally been wandering around nearby when she inadvertently overheard people discussing a girl’s cries for help coming from the alleyway. She remembered how a girl had once stepped forward to help her when she was in danger. That girl had said to her:

“I hope this world can have one less news story about a girl being harmed…”

She had kept those words in her heart ever since.

Fortunately, when she arrived, the girl had already been rescued. What she didn’t expect was that the person who had bravely helped was actually Jiang Cheng.

She was deeply surprised, because in her mind, Jiang Cheng was incredibly aloof. That’s why she called out his name to confirm.

But as soon as she spoke, she saw the crouching girl stand up and walk towards Jiang Cheng, even calling out his name in a voice filled with fragile helplessness and choked with tears: “Jiang Cheng…”

In that instant, Ji Shuyi seemed to understand something. Could it be that the cold and ruthless Jiang Cheng was  (chong guan yi nu wei hong yan) – acting in a fit of rage for a beautiful woman?

Thinking this, she immediately said with tact, “Ah, sorry, I’m disturbing you. I didn’t see anything. I’ll be going now…”

As she said this, she quickly turned and ran away, as if she had seen something she shouldn’t have.

Seeing her turn and run, Jiang Cheng hurriedly chased after her.

Ji Shuyi’s bodyguard, who was always with her, quickly stepped forward to stop him: “Young Master Jiang…”

“Get out of the way!”

This time, Jiang Cheng didn’t hold back. He was about to fight the bodyguard to get to Ji Shuyi.

Hearing the commotion, Ji Shuyi hastily turned back and scolded, “Jiang Cheng, you’re not allowed to hit her?!”

“Then tell her to step aside.” Jiang Cheng’s voice was urgent and coldly furious: “Otherwise, I won’t show any mercy.”

“You!”

Ji Shuyi helplessly and resentfully twisted her face. She wanted to refuse, but seeing the anger and darkness in Jiang Cheng’s eyes – she had never seen him like this before, as if he might go crazy at any moment – even though she didn’t have romantic feelings for him, she couldn’t just abandon him and run away at this moment.

“An Nuo, you go to the side and wait for me,” Ji Shuyi said to the girl protecting her. “He won’t hurt me.”

An Nuo immediately replied, “Okay, Miss.”

As soon as An Nuo left, Jiang Cheng quickly stepped forward, grabbed Ji Shuyi’s wrist without any gentleness, and pulled her into his arms. His voice was incredibly deep:

“Why are you running? Are you going to run away whenever you see me from now on?”

Ji Shuyi was pulled into his chest, and the moment she made contact, she could even clearly hear Jiang Cheng’s deep and powerful heartbeat, thumping as if it was about to jump out. She froze for a moment before muffledly complaining with resentment:

“What’s gotten into you!”

“I’ve gone crazy,” Jiang Cheng said, his breathing heavy and restrained, staring intently at the girl. “So, what did you see just now?”

He didn’t know when she had appeared, whether she had seen him hitting someone.

If she did see, would she think he was violent? Not as gentle as Tang Yu…

But at that moment, he had truly thought it was her. He had felt like he was going insane.

Struggling to pull away from him, Ji Shuyi’s back suddenly hit the wall. Jiang Cheng trapped her between the wall and his arms, leaving her nowhere to retreat. She could only look up at him resentfully.

“Saw you acting in a fit of rage for a beauty,” she retorted. “So, should I have stayed to watch you two make out? Or do you need me to send someone to clean up the mess for you?”

Jiang Cheng’s heart skipped a beat. She had seen it. He quickly explained, “I wasn’t hitting anyone for her, and I’m not dating anyone. I fucking thought it was you, that Song Ning dresses like you all the time.”

He suddenly reached out, gently pinching her chin and lifting her face, forcing her to look into his eyes. He tried to control his breathing, to make himself seem less insane, and said to her, one word at a time, “Ji Shuyi, I’m not some do-gooder with a sense of justice. My fit of rage was just because I mistook her for you.”

Ji Shuyi gazed into his deep eyes. The darkness and madness from before had dissipated, replaced by expectation and earnestness. It was the first time she had seen such emotions in his eyes, a look of desperately wanting to be trusted.

She suddenly remembered what Lu Zhixia had complained about the other day, that she had mistaken Song Ning for her.

So… his anger, it was really because of her?

His madness just now, it was also because of her?

But she couldn’t understand. He clearly disliked her so much.

Jiang Cheng saw her looking at him with wide, unfocused eyes, her curled eyelashes fluttering gently.

In the moonlight, her beautiful face was serene, enough to dispel all shadows and bring joy.

His throat tightened as he watched. And then, her slightly pursed red lips parted unconsciously, as if deliberately inviting a kiss.

“What are you doing?!?!?!”

Just as she was lost in thought, Ji Shuyi was horrified to see Jiang Cheng suddenly lean down, his face nearing her lips. Alarmed, she hurriedly pressed her lips together tightly and pushed against his chest with both hands.

Jiang Cheng stopped just before their lips met, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he looked into her eyes. He actually said, “Can I have a kiss?”

“???????? Σ(⊙▽⊙”a” Ji Shuyi’s brain short-circuited for several seconds before she could process his words. She asked tentatively, “Huh?”

His question was as absurd and outrageous as being suddenly dragged off the street to get a marriage certificate at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Looking at the dazed girl in front of him, Jiang Cheng couldn’t help but curve his lips into a smile.

Only now fully realizing what had just happened, Ji Shuyi exploded with embarrassed anger. “You pervert! You’re insane!”

Furious and mortified, she kicked at him. “Let me go! I want to go home.”

“I haven’t finished asking my question. I’ll let you go when I’m done.” Jiang Cheng stubbornly held her captive, not letting her leave. Without waiting for her agreement, he asked directly, “Didn’t you say you didn’t like Tang Yu? Why did you accept his roses?”

Afraid she would try to deny it, he even pinpointed the time. “It was after that murder mystery game you played, the night you left the bar?”

“Roses?” Ji Shuyi was momentarily stunned, then speechless as she remembered. “Who accepted his roses? I won them in the game! Don’t spread rumors!”

“Won them in the game?” Jiang Cheng’s eyes flickered. The long-suppressed feeling in his heart suddenly cleared, but he still emphasized, “So you don’t like him?”

“That’s right!” Ji Shuyi retorted impatiently. “I don’t like you, and I don’t like him either! Besides, if I want something, I’ll buy it myself. I don’t need anyone to give it to me!”

She didn’t notice that as she said this, the corner of Jiang Cheng’s mouth curved almost imperceptibly. Only after she finished speaking did she realize something and immediately question him sternly:

“Wait, how do you know all this?”

She questioned sharply, “You had me followed!”

“Followed?” Jiang Cheng looked at the girl who was fuming with anger and suddenly lowered his head again, chuckling softly. “I saw it with my own eyes. And I also saw you laughing so happily.”

Ji Shuyi raised her fist to hit him. “You’re such a jerk! You’re so unreasonable!”

Jiang Cheng didn’t care about being punched. He suddenly lowered his voice, his expression serious, and called out, “Ji Shuyi.”

Ji Shuyi responded ungraciously, “What?”

Jiang Cheng looked into her eyes silently for several seconds before slowly, deeply, and deliberately saying:

“I won’t bully you anymore from now on. Can I pursue you?”

“No! No! No!” Ji Shuyi hurriedly and repeatedly refused. “You’re definitely plotting something big to use against me!”

She put all her strength into pushing him, but Jiang Cheng took the opportunity to shamelessly and forcefully pull her into his arms, irresistibly lowering his head to steal a kiss on her cheek. “Alright, little explosive bunny, you can run now.”

“Ahhhhhh! You perverted freak! You’re shameless! You’ve contaminated me again!”

Finally released, Ji Shuyi frantically covered her cheek where he had kissed her, running and cursing as she went, fleeing like a startled white rabbit.
