Chapter 40: A Face Bought with EQ
Ji Shuyi took in all his emotions, saw the flickering unease in his eyes, saw the brokenness he tried to hide, and even his hand that rose and fell without grasping anything.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng no longer had his usual arrogant blaze, looking just like a big dog about to be abandoned and begging bitterly, making people want to hug him and give him some comfort. She found herself more and more easily feeling sorry for him.
Just like at this moment, Ji Shuyi seemed to be bewitched, uncontrollably reaching out and hooking the fingers of his hand that had just failed to grasp, while gently stepping forward and pressing herself against his chest. Looking up at his fair and delicate face, she slowly opened her mouth and said:
“Jiang Cheng, I don’t like him anymore. I admit, I rejected your offer to hang out because I was coming here, but I came, I saw, and I turned around and left when I found that my heart didn’t waver at all,”
She suddenly raised a smile and continued, “Actually, I rarely come here because I don’t want to disturb his life, but I’ve come twice, and both times I turned around and saw you,”
She used a joking tone to hide what she was really feeling inside and said, “What kind of ill-fated relationship do you call this?”
At this moment, Jiang Cheng had long been stunned by the moment when she hooked his fingers and leaned into his chest. Every word of hers floated into his ears like a hallucination, and even his breathing became careful, afraid of accidentally breaking the illusion, until her sentence ‘ill-fated relationship’ made him vaguely regain some sense. He denied in a soft voice:
“How could it be an ill-fated relationship? Shouldn’t it be destiny?”
Ji Shuyi listened to his gradually accelerating heartbeat, blinked her eyes, looking at his eyes, and followed his words:
“Then what will happen to destiny?”
Her tone became a little serious: “Jiang Cheng, you said to let me want you, then what status are you going to give me?”
At that moment, Jiang Cheng heard his own heart beating nervously, and then carefully answered:
“Whatever status you want me to have is fine.”
Boom-
One sentence blew away all of Ji Shuyi’s ambiguous and sympathetic feelings at that moment. Almost instantly, her face changed, and she angrily pushed away the person in front of her, shouting at him with annoyance: “You, you really are…”
She was so angry that she was speechless.
Was it so difficult to say a straightforward and clear “I like you”?
Or was he deliberately playing dumb and bullying her?
Several seconds later, in Jiang Cheng’s confused gaze, she continued angrily:
“Your face was bought with EQ (emotional intelligence), right?!
Or are you doing this on purpose, deliberately changing the way you bully me?
Which girl wouldn’t be angered to death or exhausted by being with someone like you,”
Ji Shuyi kicked his calf as if venting her anger and cursed:
“You deserve to be a bachelor for the rest of your life!”
After a scolding, she turned around and ran away, feeling that she would be angered to death by him if she stayed any longer.
Seeing that she was about to leave, Jiang Cheng looked frustrated and hurriedly reached out to pull her, but she forcefully甩开 his hand. Every cell was resisting as she shouted:
“Don’t come over!
You damn jerk are so annoying!”
Jiang Cheng: “????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!………………”
He was really going crazy. How did he make her angry again? At that moment, Jiang Cheng felt that he was a mistake.
At this moment, passers-by were pointing and commenting on him, Jiang Cheng glanced at them coldly and unhappily: “What are you looking at! Get lost!”
Ji Shuyi drove straight home.
Jiang Cheng followed all the way, wanting to find her, but found that he couldn’t even enter the villa gate this time.
He had no choice but to call her, wanting to ask where he went wrong, he could change, could she not directly deny him completely.
He made three calls in a row, all of which went unanswered.
He hurriedly edited a message and sent it to her, but the message failed to send. He quickly called again and found that she had put him in the little black room again.
Sitting in the car, listening to the busy tone in the phone again and again, Jiang Cheng took a deep breath and leaned back powerlessly. His slowly lowered eyelashes seemed to be trembling slightly.
It was his fault for making her think that he was still bullying her now.
Scenes of him bullying her after they met flashed through his mind.
Scene after scene was like a barbed knife stabbing into his heart, tearing out bloody holes, and regretting that he was about to die.
In the early morning, as soon as Ji Shuyi walked out of the room, she saw Duo Xi greeting her and saying:
“Miss, Young Master Jiang Cheng asked me to tell you that he is going abroad tomorrow morning. He wanted you not to misunderstand that he was giving up and disappearing suddenly. He will come to you when he returns home and bring you gifts.”
Ji Shuyi, who was still feeling upset, only replied absentmindedly, “I know.”
Late that night, on a deserted highway in the wilderness, two supercars were parked.
Jiang Cheng leaned against the car door in a languid posture, looking down and lighting a cigarette, his eyes showing no emotion.
“How do you feel?” Chen Xingyi asked worriedly, “Does the injury on your back affect you much after running a lap?”
Jiang Cheng’s voice was calm: “It doesn’t affect me.”
Seeing that he was in a bad mood, Chen Xingyi immediately guessed what was wrong. After all, this brother of his was usually fearless, and only that girl, Ji Shuyi, could make him look so lifeless.
“Why do you look so lifeless,” Chen Xingyi put his arm around Jiang Cheng’s shoulder like a brother and asked, “Have you not won that girl Ji Shuyi over yet? Didn’t she pull you out of the little black room?”
Jiang Cheng: “I’m back in the little black room.”
“What?” Chen Xingyi said incredulously, “You’re back in there again? Seriously, what do you do to people every day?”
Chen Xingyi was so anxious for him that he asked repeatedly, “Did you tell her about going abroad for the competition?”
Jiang Cheng: “I didn’t say.”
“Why didn’t you say it.” Chen Xingyi said anxiously, “You have to let her know what you’re doing for her, otherwise, how will the girl know that you like her?”
“Okay, I know it’s all my fault, stop nagging.” Jiang Cheng said irritably, “I’m going to run another lap.”
Looking at Jiang Cheng returning to the car, Chen Xingyi raised his eyebrows in surprise, smiling cynically and muttering:
“Love is really magical. This is the first time I’ve heard this guy say that it’s his fault.”
In the past, he was always right, and even if he was wrong, he was right. He never allowed anyone to refute him, and no one dared to refute him!
But suddenly seeing him like this, as a brother, he also felt very uncomfortable.
The three-day New Year’s Day holiday ended.
Ji Shuyi had class early in the morning. After getting off the car and walking into the school gate, she suddenly heard someone calling her.
“Ji Shuyi.”
Ji Shuyi looked in the direction of the voice and saw Chen Xingyi. She asked suspiciously, “What do you want?”
“It’s nothing, I’m just here to bring you some last words from my Bro Cheng,” Chen Xingyi walked closer and deliberately asked, “Do you know that my Bro Cheng was injured on the day of your training camp?”
The word ‘last words’ made Ji Shuyi’s heart flutter for a moment, and she replied, clutching the straps of her schoolbag tightly, “I know.”
Chen Xingyi then asked, “Then do you know that he has a very important race the day after tomorrow? He has been waiting and preparing for this race for a long time. If he fails, I think it will become a regret for the rest of his life,
But with the competition imminent, he was willing to be injured in a campus event for you,
Now the injury will directly affect his competition,
But he would rather his dream may become a regret for the rest of his life than protect you to win the championship of the campus event…”
Hearing this, the hand holding Ji Shuyi’s schoolbag tightened even more. “I didn’t know any of this…”.
