Chapter 43: Tease and Retreat
The group left the racetrack and headed to the clubhouse.
Jiang Cheng watched Ji Shuyi, who was walking ahead, having a cheerful conversation with his sister while holding his trophy, having seemingly abandoned him after taking it. He felt inexplicably frustrated.
So, she came all this way to watch his race, even kissed him, just to take his trophy?
Damn it! He felt a blockage in his chest!
Walking at the back, Chen Xingyi looked at Jiang Cheng, who resembled a frostbitten eggplant, and couldn’t help but smile as he said to Song Yu beside him, “Hey, Lao Song, don’t you think something’s off? This race is supposed to be important and serious, but Cheng-ge somehow made it feel like a casual event. The key is, he’s not even happy about winning. Achieving a milestone-like dream, and this guy isn’t excited at all. It’s just outrageous!”
Hearing the teasing, Jiang Cheng suddenly stopped and turned to look at Chen Xingyi, asking, “What did you say to Ji Shuyi?”
Chen Xingyi coughed guiltily and said, “The process isn’t important. Just tell me if you like the result or not.”
Jiang Cheng looked at him suspiciously and retorted, “You didn’t force her to do anything, did you?”
Chen Xingyi immediately explained, “How dare I?”
As he spoke, he saw Ji Shuyi turning around and walking towards Jiang Cheng. He quickly changed the subject, saying, “Hey, hurry up, Ji Shuyi’s looking for you.”
Only then did Jiang Cheng give up his questioning and immediately turned around to see Ji Shuyi standing in front of him.
Ji Shuyi deliberately moved closer to him, standing side by side with him, and looked up at him, intentionally speaking ambiguously, “You’re walking so slowly. I couldn’t see you when I turned around.”
Jiang Cheng looked at the girl standing close to him, her shoulder even touching his arm. Her eyes sparkled with shimmering light as she looked up at him. Her words were teasing and innocent, stirring up Jiang Cheng’s emotions. He smiled, revealing his teeth, and said, “Then I’ll match your pace.”
Seeing his cheap smile, Ji Shuyi deliberately added fuel to the fire, giving him a sweet smile and responding with a slightly sugary voice, “Mmm…”
She was extremely smug in her heart. Hmph! You arrogant jerk. She had to make him feel the same way she had felt recently.
She would tease him relentlessly and then not explicitly take responsibility.
Jiang Cheng unconsciously swallowed in her sweet smile and began to convince himself.
The little girl was suddenly so sweet and teasing towards him; did that mean she had already agreed to be his girlfriend in her heart?
She was just too shy to say it explicitly. After all, she had never been like this with him before, and she hadn’t pushed him away or gotten angry when he kissed her so passionately just now.
Especially now, Ji Shuyi deliberately brushed his little finger lightly with her finger.
Although it was fleeting, Jiang Cheng clearly felt it, and his heart even skipped a beat. He turned his head and gave her a burning look, thinking she was shy and wanted to hold hands but didn’t dare to, so he took the initiative to hold her hand in return.
“What are you doing?”
The moment his hand touched hers, Ji Shuyi hurriedly raised her hand and dodged his hand.
Jiang Cheng, with his palm empty, looked at Ji Shuyi’s resistant expression and was completely confused, even a little aggrieved. “Didn’t you want to hold hands?”
“Who wants to hold hands?” Ji Shuyi feigned ignorance. “Maybe I accidentally touched you just now.”
She even added mischievously, “Don’t overthink it.”
Jiang Cheng burst out in frustration: “Damn it!”
Ji Shuyi immediately puffed up her cheeks: “You’re not allowed to swear!”
Jiang Cheng: “…”
His heart, which was about to be conquered, shattered into pieces with a bang.
Was she teasing him, kissing him, and completely unwilling to take responsibility?
Helplessly, he averted his gaze from her, trying to restrain the urge to grab her into his arms and demand an explanation.
Ji Shuyi looked at the great wolfhound’s aggrieved and restrained expression and couldn’t help but curl up the corners of her mouth, hiding a triumphant smile.
Today’s racetrack had more people than ever before. After all, Jiang Cheng had broken the world record, and many reporters had rushed to interview him, along with countless racing enthusiasts who had come to admire him.
The scene was packed, making it difficult to move.
Ji Shuyi occasionally looked up at the aggrieved person next to her who hadn’t said a word and playfully called out to him, “Jiang Cheng.”
Jiang Cheng, in his depressed mood, couldn’t help but immediately look down at her and respond, “What?”
Ji Shuyi blinked her eyes at him coquettishly, her red lips parted slightly, “Can I hold your hand?”
A slap followed by a tiny piece of candy. The key was, he didn’t even know if the candy was bitter or sweet. In just a few minutes, Jiang Cheng felt like he was going crazy because of her.
Seeing that he didn’t say anything, only looking at her with eyes so fiery that they could burn her, Ji Shuyi enjoyed seeing his eager yet restrained appearance. She pretended to be innocent and continued, “It’s just that there are too many people. I’m afraid this fairy will be accidentally pushed away by the crowd…”
As she spoke, she reached out to take his hand, but just as that fair and beautiful hand was about to touch his, Ji Shuyi suddenly stopped and quickly retracted her hand, looking at Jiang Cheng with a serious expression, “Never mind, men and women shouldn’t touch hands. I’ll go hold Yanyan’s hand instead… Sigh!”
As she was speaking, Jiang Cheng suddenly put his arm around her neck, pulled her mercilessly into his arms, and said in a restrained, clear voice, “Ji Shuyi! Are you messing with me?”
Teasing him, then pushing him away, deliberately driving him crazy!
Once again, Ji Shuyi’s little nose was bumped by his chest, and she hummed and pushed him in his arms, “It hurts!”
Jiang Cheng: “Endure it!”
Although his voice was fierce, he saw that Ji Shuyi’s upturned face had a red nose and red eyes.
She really was delicate; he had only done it lightly, so why was she crying?
He instantly compromised, loosening his grip a little, and sighed helplessly with a furrowed brow, “Can you be good?”
His voice unconsciously softened.
Ji Shuyi only “hmphed” and reluctantly continued to push him away.
Jiang Cheng hurriedly coaxed, “Okay, be good, or the little fairy will be pushed away.”
Little fairy?
Ji Shuyi instantly stopped all struggling, staring blankly at the person who had just softly called her a little fairy. For some reason, she didn’t want to struggle anymore, and even felt a hint of sweetness in her heart. Since when had his words become less annoying?
But she didn’t want the dog man to see that she was uselessly feeling sweet inside just because of his words, so she twisted her little face and said jealously, “Then I’ll allow you to escort this fairy out of the crowd first.”
As if seeing through her little thoughts under her arrogant expression, Jiang Cheng smiled and cooperated, “Okay, escorting the fairy on her journey.”
Their eyes met, and Ji Shuyi panicked and hurriedly lowered her head, avoiding his smiling and burning gaze, because she felt her cheeks were hot, as if… she was shy.
Ugh~ Useless!
Jiang Cheng, who had a complete view of her expressions, smiled helplessly and tilted his head. This little prickly rabbit was visibly blushing in his sight…
