Jiang Mingqian, who was usually praised, was also infuriated. “Look at the good daughter-in-law you found. After marriage, she doesn’t know how to conduct herself. All that fuss, and now she’s bringing it here to me. If only you had listened to my advice back then. Why bring home such a questionable person? Could it not have ended up like this? It’s simply a laughingstock in the circle!”
“If a person can’t do well, don’t blame the path! What kind of throne do you have to inherit at home? Who cares about your trifles? If I had known you had that royal affliction, who would want to marry into this just to argue with you!” Since the mask was off, Xu Chunian held nothing back, her words coming out in full force.
“Who doesn’t want a harmonious family? If I had known it would turn out like this, I should have stayed in my peaceful home forever. Who would care about your ancient tomb-like place? You think everyone respects you? Behind your back, they probably insult you! A prime example of the thick-skinned and unscrupulous capitalist, a stubborn old fossil!”
“That’s a ridiculous analogy!” Xu Chunian dared not say it, knowing it would affect too many people.
“How can you speak to your elder like that?” Lan Xin couldn’t help but interject.
“And you, do you want to be insulted? You green tea b*tch!”
“Who are you calling a green tea b*tch?”
“Whoever fits the bill,” Xu Chunian crossed her arms, rolling her eyes without a care for her image. “Look at that big white wall you have; you could scrape off three pounds of putty from your face.”
“You…” Lan Xin’s chest heaved in anger. “Don’t think I don’t know. You’re just vain. After marrying, you didn’t get recognition from my uncle, so you immediately look for the next fool to take over!”
“Enough!” Jiang Huaixu’s cold voice cut through the tension.
Zhuzhu was startled, and Xu Chunian quickly pulled her into her arms, whispering softly, “Don’t be afraid, baby. Mommy’s got your back.”
Zhuzhu trembled slightly, tightly clutching her pig toy against her chest.
“Stop arguing; there is a child present,” Lan Yueying finally intervened.
Jiang Huaixu stood up, lifted Zhuzhu into his arms, and firmly grabbed Xu Chunian’s wrist, speaking in a low voice, “We’re leaving.”
“Huaixu!” Jiang Mingqian rose from his chair. “You finally come back, and now you’re leaving?”
Zhuzhu clung to Jiang Huaixu’s shoulder, avoiding looking around, her hand gripping the small pig toy, wrapping her other arm around the man’s neck.
“Wait until you respect my wife and my child before you talk,” he said, picking up the bag Xu Chunian had left on the sofa.
“Jiang Huaixu!”
The response to him was the sound of the door slamming shut.
Jiang Mingqian exhaled deeply and sat back down.
His marriage to Jiang Huaixu’s mother was a business alliance. They benefited from each other and kept their distance, but after Lan Yueying became pregnant, they divorced.
Jiang Huaixu’s birth was an accident, and he had initially been raised as an heir, but after Jiang Jingchen was born and with the passing of the old man, Jiang Mingqian seemed to have neglected this son.
It wasn’t until he saw Jiang Huaixu’s name in the financial news that he realized how grown up he had become.
“This Chunian really doesn’t understand anything,” Lan Yueying placed a cup of tea in front of him and gently patted his chest.
“Exactly, she has no upbringing at all!” Lan Xin echoed, quietly pulling out a small mirror from her bag.
So exquisite! How could she possibly look like she had putty on her face?
Meanwhile, Jiang Jingchen was still recovering from the verbal battle, surprised at how Xu Chunian had transformed into such a thorn in the side. Every time she came here, she had always been the timid and cautious one.
