Xu Chunian lay on the small bed, letting out a satisfied sigh. At 24 years old, she truly was someone who enjoyed life.
Having just met Ji Changning last night, she was pulled over for a spa today. According to Shen Qingli’s description, the actress on set had a huge ego and loved to alter the script. Shen Qingli wanted to supervise in person to ensure it didn’t get completely changed.
Ji Changning turned her head towards Xu Chunian, “Which actress did Ali mention has a big ego?”
“Seems like she just became popular recently.”
Ji Changning raised an eyebrow, “This industry is like that; once someone is elevated, it’s easy for them to become arrogant.”
Xu Chunian nodded in agreement. Ali had told her many stories about celebrities who fell from grace, people who seemed polite and ambitious when they first debuted but forgot their roots as soon as they became famous. She had witnessed firsthand how that rising star oppressed newcomers while working in Ali’s crew not long ago.
Once at the peak, they almost forget how difficult the journey was.
“Next time.” Ji Changning smiled lazily, “Let’s take Ali with us camping.”
“Camping?”
Ji Changning nodded, “Let’s bring Nuonuo and Zhuzhu along.”
“Sure.” Xu Chunian turned over, “By the way, are you close with Qin Yuan?”
Hearing this, Ji Changning’s expression shifted slightly, “Hmm.”
“Does he have a screw loose?” Xu Chunian pouted in frustration.
“What’s wrong?” Ji Changning chuckled at her.
“He’s a bit of a jerk.”
He had been so coldly dismissive when he rejected her before, and after ignoring her at the banquet, he suddenly started coming back around, sending flirty messages that infuriated Xu Chunian to the point she blocked him.
“Niannian, don’t get too close to him.” Ji Changning’s expression became more serious.
“What’s wrong?” Xu Chunian turned to look at her.
“He…”
Before Ji Changning could finish, her phone rang from the side. The massage therapist handed it to her.
Xu Chunian answered, “Hello?”
Her expression changed, “Wait, I’ll be there soon.”
After hanging up, Xu Chunian put on her clothes, “Sorry, Ningning, I might have to back out today. I need to go to the kindergarten.”
“What happened?” Ji Changning noticed her serious expression and started to remove her mask.
“Zhuzhu got into a fight; I have to go.” Xu Chunian quickly splashed some water on her face.
“I’ll take you there.”
“No need, I’ll reschedule another time.” Xu Chunian rushed out with her jacket, “It’s really close.”
Although she hadn’t spent much time with Zhuzhu, Xu Chunian knew that Zhuzhu’s personality was very much like Jiang Huaixu’s; she would never initiate a fight.
Once outside, Xu Chunian grabbed an electric scooter and headed straight for the kindergarten.
Fortunately, it wasn’t far, and she arrived quickly, stopping in front of the familiar building entrance.
In her haste, the scooter had not come to a complete stop, and as she reached out to steady herself, her lower back bumped into the rear of a luxury car that had just parked.
She winced but didn’t have time to care.
At that moment, a lavishly dressed woman stepped out of the car, her gaze unfriendly and filled with disdain as she looked at Xu Chunian.
Xu Chunian had splashed her face earlier, and the droplets hadn’t yet dried; her skin was smooth as a peeled egg, porcelain white with no visible pores. She was casually dressed in a white T-shirt with her jacket draped over her arm, appearing youthful and vibrant.
“Sorry.” Xu Chunian quickly apologized and hurried inside.
“Tsk.” The wealthy woman frowned, “What kind of nanny is this? So inappropriate.”
The driver helped her close the car door.
“Old Qian, make sure to wash this car thoroughly later.”
“Understood, ma’am.”
