Xu Chunian laughed in anger, “Is this what you call two children fighting over a toy?”
The teacher felt a bit awkward, not wanting to offend either side.
Mrs. Wang sneered, “I thought it was something valuable. Just a lowly toy.”
“No matter what it is, it belongs to our Zhuzhu. Taking it without permission is stealing. Is your child a thief?”
“I’m not a thief!” The little boy suddenly stopped playing with his toy car. “I was just looking at it! That little mute wouldn’t share, so I took it. She wasn’t paying attention and fell!”
Mrs. Wang patted her son’s head and cast a disdainful glance at Xu Chunian and Zhuzhu. “Oh, she’s a mute too? A daughter and a mute? Ms. Xu, here’s a piece of advice: while you’re still young, use some means to get a normal child. It’s better than having a child who’s a mess getting blown around in the wind on a broken bike.”
Xu Chunian held back her anger and softened her voice as much as possible. “Zhuzhu, be good. Close your eyes and cover your ears while standing in the corner. Mommy won’t call you, so don’t turn around, okay?”
Though Zhuzhu didn’t quite understand what was going on, she stood up from Xu Chunian’s embrace and walked to the corner, covering her ears. One hand still in a cast, she shrugged her shoulder close to her ear, while the hand holding the pig toy pressed against her ear, her eyes tightly shut.
Xu Chunian’s gaze turned cold as she stood up and walked over to Mrs. Wang.
With a loud “slap,” Xu Chunian delivered a sharp slap across Mrs. Wang’s face.
Mrs. Wang, used to being flattered, never expected such a reaction and took the slap forcefully.
Xu Chunian used all her strength, her hand stinging from the impact.
Mrs. Wang covered her face, her eyes filled with rage, “How dare you hit me?”
“And what if I did?”
The little boy playing with the toy car seemed frightened and dropped the toy, hiding behind the teacher.
Seeing the situation escalate, the teacher quickly intervened, “Ms. Xu!”
At that moment, a driver from outside pushed the door open, stepping in front of Xu Chunian to shield Mrs. Wang.
Mrs. Wang, furious, laughed mockingly, “Your last name is Xu, right? I don’t know what kind of wealthy benefactor you think you have that gives you such confidence, but remember this slap. You’re just a reckless little girl.”
Xu Chunian stumbled back a bit, her lower back hitting the edge of the desk. She instinctively frowned and retorted, “You keep calling things low-class, but the truth is, you reek of nouveau riche. You’ve raised a twisted child. It’s not that I’m reckless; it’s you who is a frog in a well!”
“Who are you calling nouveau riche?”
“Is it hard to understand? I’m calling you a vulgar woman!” Xu Chunian smiled mockingly.
Mrs. Wang held back her anger, pointing at the driver, “You! Go hold that little brat down for me.”
At this moment, the teacher stepped forward, seeing that things were getting serious. “Mrs. Wang, the office is equipped with recording and surveillance devices. If you lay a hand on Ms. Xu here, she has the right to hold you accountable. The two children merely had a small dispute; if this escalates, it won’t be good, don’t you think?”
Mrs. Wang gestured for her bodyguard to pull back, then walked up to Xu Chunian, a smirk on her face, “So what? Even outside, I can still make you submit.”
“With that fat, clumsy body of yours? You think you could take me, who’s light on my feet?”
Back in school, Shen Qingli had been bullied for her looks by teachers and peers alike, and Xu Chunian had often fought in the girls’ restroom.
Even Jiang Huaixu… it was during that time…
