Chapter 252.1
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Punishing Baron Alpendre for the crime of poisoning me was easy. With just a single sentence from His Highness, the man would be stripped off his noble parentage.
But I couldn’t exactly say punishing him would be beneficial for my future. Even if the baron’s relative were to inherit the title from the current Baron Alpendre, there would always be some lingering resentment left.
In that case, it would be better to strike a deal that could actually be beneficial for me and forgive him for his sin. In this way, Baron Alpendre would be indebted to me and I wouldn’t be on the receiving end of his family’s grudge.
“Your Majesty, Bavarian-sama, I will forgive Baron Alpendre. I will also make an Egil Recovery Potion for him using the materials from Heinrich. But of course, I will charge him an appropriate amount for the potion.”
When I conveyed my intention both verbally and with a mix of gestures, His Majesty and Bavarian-sama looked at me as if he was looking at a saint. They look astonished to say the least.
After that, decided that he would pardon Baron Alpendre but in return, Baron Alpendre would need to give me 100.000 gold coins, the same amount I had received from His Majesty as a fund to build the wasteland.
Baron Alpendre became overwhelmed with emotions. He bursted into tears right on the spot upon knowing not only he was pardoned but he would also receive the potion from me. With this, Baron Alpendre would be indebted to me and I doubt he would cause me any trouble again in the future.
The cobra tamer guy couldn’t be pardoned though. Although he only did what he did under Baron Alpendre’s order, he couldn’t be exempted from the punishment because he was only a mere commoner. A commoner had to be punished when they tried to harm a noble, especially since it was a poisoning attempt.
Normally, he would be beheaded right here and there but I asked His Majesty to please reduce his punishment so now the cobra tamer would only be sentenced to imprisonment. I personally believed Heinrich needed to be punished too though, because he had neglected his promise with Baron Alpendre. But still, that would be asking too much.
Finally, I apologized to Rose-san from the bottom of my heart. She was actually innocent after all. She said something along the lines of…
I will forgive you if you become mine.”
While making a bunch of passionate gestures(?) but I decided to finally put my foot down for once and all.
“I’m already married and I won’t cheat on my wife so I’m sorry but I can’t become yours!”
I made it clear that any possible romantic endeavor between us was not going to happen no matter what.
I know I’ve said it so many times but I will say it again. I’m really glad Yurina-san is not here…
Then Rose-san said…
“Humph! Then I will get a better man! Better than you!”
Then off she went to the party venue, followed by Baron Alpendre who was chasing after her.
“Roseeee!~”
Baron Alpendre shouted her name in a high-pitched voice but Rose-san didn’t even spare him a glance.
“Well then, let’s return to the venue as well. Without Your Majesty, Bavarian-sama and me, the party would be losing its meaning after all.”
And so, the troublesome incident was resolved in a somewhat peaceful manner and the party continued on.

T/N: MC is really a pacifist but I guess… He’s right. Logically speaking, having someone indebted to you is better than satisfying your pride ( ._. )
