Chapter 266.2: (Tanya’s POV) Watching the Store

My name is Tanya! I’ve been living in the slums as far as I can remember!  Back when I was still living in the slum, I would do some errands from Johnny to get some money. That was how I was able to get by.

One day, I fainted in front of this shop because I was famished and then, Keigo and Yurina-san helped me~ They nursed me and taught me things. Thanks to them, I became independent enough to be able to watch over the shop all by myself like this.

Lately, it seemed Keigo and Yurina-san had been busy regarding things with Elsa. Today as well, they went out together to Taylor’s place, leaving me alone. They said I was still too young.

I watched over the shop together with Ash but ever since the sparkling wine competition back then, we hardly had any customers coming in. 

“I’m so bored… Ash, come and talk with me for a bit.” 

Ash tilted his head to the side, looking up at me from his chair.

(Ash~ I love you~ I love you so much!!~) 

For a moment, Ash and I stared at each other. Then, Ash stuck his tongue out and wagged his tail.

 ……..

“Arghhh!! (So adorable!!)” 

I leaned down, repeatedly banging my fist against the counter. But still, nothing changed. The only sound I could hear in the shop was the tick-tock sound from the clock. ⌛

I still felt a bit nervous if I had to serve a customer but no matter how long I waited, no customer ever knocked on our door.

Looking outside the window, I saw a couple playing in the river, basking in the sunlight. Upon seeing the scene of two people playfully teasing each other in the river, Keigo’s words echoed in my head. 

“You’re still too young, Tanya.”

“Ugh! Everyone treats me like a kid! Even I have kissed someone before, you know!”

I bumped head with Liam (♂, 9 years old), a good friend of mine, back at Wolf Cub’s Village while playing around and our front tooth collided against each other. Well, to be precise, we were head butting so I guess you couldn’t really count it as a ‘kiss’ but still.

After letting out a big yawn, Ash jumped off the chair and curled up on his “Ash’s Towel” that Yurina-san had made for him. It seemed Ash decided it was time for him to groom himself. 

“You’re so cold, Ash~”

And then after that, nothing changed. The day continued on quietly. Feeling bored out of my mind, my legs started to fidget restlessly.

“At this point, I’m going to end up becoming an old lady without ever getting a boyfriend…” 

I sighed, leaning my head on the counter. Because I had nothing to do, I began to whine, which was something I rarely do.

Seeing how bored I was, Ash, who was sprawling on “Ash’s Towel”, decided to come over to me with his favorite tiger doll in his mouth. 

Throw it! 

He seemed to say. 

“Geez~ It can’t be helped then~”

I sighed, though I couldn’t stop the smile from forming on my face. 

Then… 

“Hellow~ Tanya, are you there?” 

Liam (♂, 9 years old) , the boy I had mentioned before, came to the shop.

“Oh, Liam! Welcome~ Do you need something?” 

“Nah, I was just thinking maybe we could have a spar or something…” 

“Can’t you see? I’m working right now.”

I puffed out my chest, pretending that I was busy working. 

“I see… You’re so amazing, Tanya! Well then, I guess I will see you later?~” 

😨😨😨 

Feeling panicked because Liam was about to leave, I immediately said. 

“Ah! Wait! I mean, if it’s only for a while… I guess I can do a little bit of training with you!” 

After I said that, we then decided to start our sword training session in front of the shop.

I continued training with Liam until a regular, an old lady from the neighborhood, came to buy ‘recovery cough drop’.
