Chapter 5 – Maybe She Had a Boyfriend (2/2)
Shi Lan’s answer was just as normal the second time around.
She genuinely didn’t know what her ideal type was.
As long as someone had decent character, it was all possible.
If she had to say something—well, she couldn’t stand smooth-talkers who were all bark and no bite.
Jiang Wan’s answer didn’t stir much of a reaction either.
Because sitting here were all “functional people”—no one could really understand her otaku nonsense.
Then it was Song Yanyan’s turn.
She’d started her career as a child actress.
The first time she was asked this question, she was just seven years old.
In the clip on the projector, little Song Yanyan wore a princess dress and a crown, answering in a soft baby voice:
“I want to be with a prince riding a white horse.”
The whole room chuckled at the innocent and adorable reply.
Song Yanyan bashfully lowered her head.
Then came the clip from earlier on the way here. Her answer had matured quite a bit.
With a radiant smile, Song Yanyan said,
“I like gentle and kind boys. They also need to have stable emotions. That’s the most important thing I look for in a life partner.”
A perfectly normal answer.
This was not the time to laugh.
Jiang Wan knew that.
But that damn mouth of hers—just couldn’t hold it in.
The moment Jiang Wan let out a laugh, every pair of eyes in the room turned to her, filled with confusion.
The director asked directly,
“Teacher Jiang, may I ask… what are you laughing at?”
Jiang Wan wiped the smile off her face.
Her gaze swept across the group before she pointed at each person one by one.
First was Xie Zhiyi.
Jiang Wan said seriously,
“You like someone quiet, right? Then you should pair up with White Dragon Horse. He doesn’t talk when he’s working as a horse.”
Next was Shang Gubai.
Jiang Wan recalled what he had said earlier,
“You like girls who eat well and enjoy food, right? Then go with Pigsy—he’s got a great appetite.”
Then came Shi Lan.
At this point, Jiang Wan had already given up on appearances, her voice turning open and even slightly excited:
“Someone dependable and hardworking? That’s totally Sandy! He literally carried the whole journey!”
Lastly, she turned to Song Yanyan.
Jiang Wan struggled to keep her lips from curling upward as she tried to speak with a straight face:
“Gentle, kind, emotionally stable? That’s basically Tang Sanzang! Even when monsters wanted to eat him, he never cried! I don’t think there’s anyone in the world with more emotional stability than him!
And more importantly—he even rides a white horse! He perfectly matches the standards you set when you were a kid!”
Silence.
The entire room: “…”
Everyone’s expression turned increasingly weird.
Jiang Wan swallowed hard.
Why so serious?
Did she say something wrong?
She didn’t expect the first person to laugh out loud… would be Shang Gubai.
Even though they’d just had an unpleasant clash earlier, at this moment, Shang Gubai was laughing so hard he couldn’t even straighten up.
And that one laugh set off the rest.
One by one, the others couldn’t hold it in either and burst out laughing.
In the live stream, the comment section exploded into wall-to-wall “hahahaha”.
[What goes on in Jiang Wan’s head every day?! I seriously give up on trying to figure her out—AHHHH!]
[Wait a second, those guest preferences… they do actually match?! This is so ridiculous.]
[So the whole cast secretly dreams of being in Journey to the West?? I’m speechless.]
[Hey! Jiang Qi hasn’t even said his type yet, and the vibe of this segment is already completely derailed thanks to Jiang Wan?!]
[Doesn’t matter. No matter what Jiang Qi’s type is, he can still be part of this family.]
[Exactly! Our Monkey King can do seventy-two transformations! (proud)]
