Chapter 2: Premeditated
Liu Xiaoling had planned this out meticulously, step by step, shifting all the blame onto the original owner, leaving herself completely unscathed.
“Husband, you have to get justice for our daughter. Liu Xiaoling wanted to kill her!” Cui Yulan cried, her eyes red and swollen.
“Dad, Mom, tomorrow we’ll…” Wen Wan calmly explained her plan for the next day.
Liu Xiaoling had already spread the news of her falling into the water, so tomorrow, she needed to regain the initiative.
“Good, that’s a good idea.” Wen Dafu approved with relief.
He hadn’t gone to confront them earlier for fear of his daughter’s disapproval; Liu Xiaoling had taken advantage of his daughter for years, enjoying the benefits.
“Knock knock knock…” Tian Xiaochao knocked on the door, entering with a bowl in hand. “Mom and Dad, dinner’s ready.”
She handed over a bowl of egg custard. “Xiaowan, eat something to fill your stomach.”
“Sister-in-law, thank you.” Wen Wan accepted it with a smile. “Dad, Mom, you go eat first. Tomorrow morning, we’ll go settle the score with them.”
“Okay, you eat and rest early.” Cui Yulan stood up, urging the others out. There were some things they needed to discuss privately.
Late at night, under a starlit sky, after dinner, the Wen family went to their respective rooms to rest.
“Jianguo, can Xiaowan and Chen Jianbing’s wedding still happen?” Tian Xiaochao asked, sewing a shoe sole under a kerosene lamp.
Wen Jianguo sighed. “It’s difficult now, considering what happened.” As a man, he understood men’s thoughts.
“It’s not Xiaowan’s fault. Didn’t Chen Jianbing have eyes when he was saving people?” Tian Xiaochao angrily tossed down her work.
Society is already hard on women. When it’s not our fault, why should women bear the worst consequences?
Wen Jianguo embraced the furious Tian Xiaochao, softly comforting her. “Wife, you’re pregnant. Don’t get upset. We’ll handle it.”
“Wen Jianguo, let me tell you, you must stand by Xiaowan.” Tian Xiaochao warned fiercely.
Wen Jianguo nodded repeatedly. He wasn’t a fool; Wen Wan was his own niece.
In the next room, Wen Dafu and Cui Yulan lay in bed, unable to sleep.
“Husband, do you think what our daughter said today will work?” Cui Yulan turned over, frowning.
Thinking of his daughter’s feelings for Chen Jianbing, Wen Dafu was also troubled. “We’ll definitely settle the score with Liu Xiaoling first, as our daughter said. We’ll see what the Chen family says; we’re not in a hurry.”
He was certain Chen Jianbing had ulterior motives. Otherwise, why would he save Liu Xiaoling before his own daughter?
The excuse about saving whoever was closest was just that—an excuse. A minute or two wouldn’t have made a difference.
“Husband, do you think our daughter is… possessed by something today…?” Cui Yulan mumbled softly. She felt her daughter’s personality had changed drastically.
Wen Dafu proudly said, “My daughter has grown up. It must be my mother protecting her from heaven. Now, my daughter is as smart as my mother.”
When he saw his daughter outlining her plan, her confident and composed demeanor reminded him of his deceased mother.
His mother had said before she passed that his daughter was the smartest and most promising, and that he should listen to her.
“Husband, you’re right,” Cui Yulan nodded after a moment’s thought. “Our daughter does have some of her grandmother’s shadow.”
Speaking of her mother-in-law, Cui Yulan couldn’t help but recall the fear of being controlled.
When she and Wen Dafu first got married, they were inexperienced and naive, and no one taught them how to protect their interests. They always suffered losses at work, relying entirely on their mother-in-law’s guidance.
The deceased Grandma Wen: Heh, you know how to appreciate me now. Don’t think I’ve forgotten all those years you secretly cursed me.
Wen Wan, nestled in her warm bed, was unaware that she had almost been exposed, thanks to her parents’ own assumptions.
After eating, Wen Wan lay down, claiming to rest, but her mind was racing, unable to sleep. She stared at the ceiling beams, lost in thought.
She remembered celebrating a promotion with her colleagues, drinking more than she could recall.
She didn’t even know how she died, grateful that she was alive again.
Online, there was a saying: The most painful thing in life is dying with money still unspent.
Fortunately, due to a colleague’s death from overwork, she had secretly made a will.
The will clearly stated that if Wen Wan died unexpectedly, all her assets would be inherited by the Renxin Ciyou Orphanage.
Suddenly, Wen Wan felt dizzy. In a flash, she was in a state of chaos.
“Hello, Wen Wan.”
Before her appeared a woman in a blue dress, with distinct features and a slightly upturned red lip.
“Who are you?” Wen Wan cautiously asked.
“I am you, and you are me.”
“You’re the original Xiaowan?” Wen Wan affirmed, understanding the sense of familiarity.
“Please take good care of our family. Goodbye.”
As the original “Xiaowan” finished speaking, a beam of light shot towards Wen Wan’s forehead.
“Hmm…” Wen Wan found herself in a different place, closing her eyes to absorb the information.
After a long time, Wen Wan sighed, understanding the meaning of “I am you, and you are me.” She was supposed to be a person of this era.
Looking at the hazy space, various plans flooded Wen Wan’s mind.
The space she possessed was similar to a farming game; she was the farm owner.
Initially, there was a plot of black land and a pasture. She could buy seeds from the in-game store to plant, and also purchase pesticides to help the plants grow better.
Once the crops matured, she could sell them to the store in exchange for gold coins, which could be used to upgrade the space.
Wen Wan then looked at the pasture enclosed by a few fences, showing disdain. She was afraid the wind would blow the fences down.
Taking a deep breath, Wen Wan opened the beginner’s gift pack, silently praying for gold coins to buy seeds and cute piglets.
“Ding…” a sound echoed.
Wen Wan’s clear eyes stared at the bag in her hand. It was something, at least she had seeds.
To quickly earn gold coins and upgrade the space, Wen Wan rolled up her sleeves, picked up a hoe, and began to cultivate the land and sow seeds.
She was secretly relieved that her soul and body had merged, and her body had inherent farming knowledge.
That night, several related families didn’t sleep well, each with their own plans.
