Chapter 27 – Neither of You Has Any Shame
When Li Fan saw that Han Xuzhou didn’t reply, she stopped messaging him.
That night, as she lay in bed, Ruan Li was once again sneaking around like a mouse to get food.
Li Fan couldn’t take it anymore. “Would it kill you to eat downstairs?!”
Ruan Li rolled her eyes at her. “I’ve got a persona to maintain—how could I let it collapse now? By the way, do you think Shen Yuwan will still join the show tomorrow?”
“I don’t know. I don’t care.”
Ruan Li crawled over with a bag of chips in her arms. “Isn’t Shen Yuwan your sister?”
Li Fan, eyes still closed, said, “When did I ever say she was my sister?”
Ruan Li crunched her chips noisily. “Shen Yuwan said so herself. You really seem to hate her. Are you jealous of her or something?”
Li Fan let out a sarcastic laugh. “Jealous of what? Her dying on camera?”
“Jealous that she’s richer than you. She’s the real heiress, and you’re the adopted daughter. With that setup, you’re clearly the villainess. Hey, who’s your man, anyway? Is he someone from the industry? Do I know him? Some say he’s an old man. You gonna clarify that or what?”
Ruan Li was always trying to get something out of Li Fan—after all, she was the only guest with no scandals.
Li Fan: “He’s your dad.”
Ruan Li: “…Why are you insulting people now?”
Li Fan: “How did I insult you?”
Ruan Li: “My dad’s dead.”
Li Fan: “……”
She pulled the blanket over her head and muttered under it, “Better if he really were your dad.”
Ruan Li wiped her mouth, feeling like she still got something out of tonight—
At least now she knew that Li Fan wished her man was dead.
On the fourth day of the show, a sudden rumor linking Bai Xiaoxian and Gu Lanyi started trending online.
No one had seen that coming.
They hadn’t interacted much before, yet all of a sudden people were shipping them as a big-sister-little-brother couple.
And sure enough, early that morning, Bai Xiaoxian and Gu Lanyi began interacting, with a flirtatious vibe that just kept intensifying.
Combined with the planted online stories, more and more people started to think this pairing was legit.
What surprised everyone even more was that Shen Yuwan and Liang Kang were still around.
006: This show’s blowing up. You don’t even know how many people want in right now—just for a bit of screen time. Shen Yuwan wants to promote her jewelry brand. There’s no way she’s leaving easily. At this rate, there’s definitely gonna be a second season. And when that happens, you might not get invited back.
Originally, Li Fan wasn’t even supposed to be on this show. Gu Lan had invited her just to flex.
And thinking of how Andy had told her to get along with Gu Lan… it was downright ironic.
There were special guests coming today too—and they arrived early.
One was the comedic actress Cheng Huan. She wasn’t famous for her looks, but had starred in several hit comedies with total box office earnings of nearly a billion.
It was Li Fan’s first time seeing her in person. Her first thought was: She’s thinner than she looks on screen.
006: Because she developed anorexia. Ever since her breakout role, she’s faced constant online abuse—mostly calling her fat. That’s when she developed mild anorexia, and it’s worsened over time. With pressure from her family too, she gradually sank into depression.
The other guest was triple-award-winning actor Ji Yinxun.
Ji Yinxun was handsome and aloof—known online as the poster boy for self-restrained, abstinent male leads.
He clearly could have made it on looks alone but insisted on earning fame through his acting chops.
006: According to the book, he’s supposed to become one of the many fish in Shen Yuwan’s pond.
Mentioning the “pond” reminded Li Fan of the yellowed lake surface from yesterday…
Tsk, better not think about it.
Cheng Huan didn’t seem anorexic at all. She’d even brought gifts for everyone.
She brought out a pot full of freshly braised pig trotters and pork head meat.
The moment she lifted the lid, the rich aroma of braised meat filled the living room.
Li Fan swallowed. “Smells amazing.”
Gu Lanyi and Bai Xiaoxian eagerly stepped forward. “We haven’t eaten yet.”
Cheng Huan was thrilled and went to the kitchen to get some bowls.
“Go ahead, give it a try. I just hope it’s not too greasy.”
Bai Xiaoxian picked out some lean pork leg meat for Gu Lanyi. “This one isn’t fatty. Try it.”
Gu Lanyi shyly accepted it.
Watching this scene, Li Fan sighed inwardly.
CP clout doesn’t come that easy.
006: Breaking news—Lin Luqing and Zhou Yaya are already at the scenic area entrance. They’re coming to catch them in the act!
Li Fan: “!!!”
Watching the affectionate interaction between Bai Xiaoxian and Gu Lanyi, Cheng Huan asked very directly, “You two aren’t a couple, are you?”
Gu Lanyi’s heart skipped a beat. Their plan had been to play it ambiguously and not confirm anything.
A bit of teasing, a bit of mystery—let the fans speculate.
But who knew this pig-brained Bai Xiaoxian would blurt out, “Yeah, we just made it official.”
All the other guests: “Oooh~”
The livestream chat exploded.
【What the hell? Is this real?!】
【I don’t accept this! Aaaah, I don’t accept this! Bai Xiaoxian even slept with Gu Lan. What if he caught something?! I don’t accept this!】
【Gu Lanyi stans, give it a rest. We don’t accept it either! Bai Xiaoxian is so handsome—his girlfriend can’t have smelly feet.】
The fanbases of Gu Lanyi and Bai Xiaoxian had already started fighting. Only the CP shippers were celebrating wildly.
Faced with everyone’s suggestive stares, Gu Lanyi could only bite the bullet.
“Yes, we just made it official.”
Li Fan: Bai Xiaoxian has no decency.
006: Who cares about decency with scumbags? The plan between both sides was to play coy—this is the entertainment industry after all. Once the CP clout’s dried up, they’d deny the relationship and move on. But now? Bai Xiaoxian totally ambushed Gu Lanyi.
This was going to be a PR nightmare for Gu Lanyi.
Ruan Li watched it all and mumbled, “Miss Gu, didn’t he also used to be with Miss Gu Lan? Doesn’t that gross you out?”
That was the kind of question everyone wondered but no one dared ask—only this little skeleton girl had the guts.
Gu Lanyi’s face went cold. She clenched her fist so tightly it dug into her palm, as if she’d swallowed a fly.
“I just got together with him. Whatever happened with Gu Lan… is in the past.”
Ruan Li blinked. “But he’s got STDs…”
The room fell silent.
Li Fan leaned in and whispered in her ear, “Shut up.”
Ruan Li widened her eyes, about to talk back—only to hear Li Fan continue:
“Say one more word, and I’ll release your video.”
Ruan Li begrudgingly shut up. Not even allowed to speak anymore.
Cheng Huan sensed the awkward tension and quickly changed the subject. “Yuwan, right? I made these pig trotters and pig face slices myself. Want some?”
Shen Yuwan, happy that the attention was finally back on her, clutched her chest with both hands. “Just the smell makes me want to eat. Please give me some, Sister Huan. I’ll share with Liang Kang.”
Cheng Huan beamed. “Alrighty then!”
“All I’ve got are trotters and pig face. Yuwan, do you have any shame?”
Shen Yuwan shook her head. “Nope, no shame at all.”
Cheng Huan didn’t think anything was off and turned to Liang Kang. “Liang Kang, do you have any shame?”
Liang Kang felt something was odd but couldn’t pinpoint what. He shook his head too.
“Nope, I have no shame either.”
Cheng Huan: “Great, neither of you has any shame.”
At that exact moment, Li Fan sprayed a mouthful of water all over Ruan Li’s face.
