Chapter 10: A Long Awaited Reunion
Suddenly, after the two of them finished shopping for clothes and bought some fruits, they headed back to the base.
On the way, Qin Lang received a command from the team leader to head to the training ground.
He helped her carry all the items upstairs and reminded her, “Take a break, I’ll clean up when I get back.”
“Qin Lang, what do you want to eat tonight?” Lin You called out to him when she saw the kitchen full of food.
“Anything is fine, I love everything you make,” he replied.
Feeling shy, Lin You quickly turned around and closed the door, leaving him outside.
Lin You was the type of person who couldn’t relax until all her tasks were completed, or the house was clean and tidy. She had to finish everything before she could rest.
After she tidied up, took a shower, and changed into a new outfit, she lay down on the bed.
When Lin You woke up, it was already around five in the afternoon. She changed her clothes again and got ready to cook.
Many people think cooking is the most troublesome thing in the world, as it requires preparing ingredients, washing them, mixing, cooking, and then washing the dishes afterward.
However, for Lin You, as long as the tools were well prepared, cooking was the simplest thing. It could sharpen her will and enhance her skills, much like being in an operating room. She truly enjoyed the process of cooking.
Qin Lang’s mother, Professor Song, was the same, she was also a great cook. Previously, Lin You and she would occasionally eat out, but they usually cooked at home.
Surgeons often have excellent knife skills, especially for delicate surgeries like cardiac surgery. Lin You cut the beef and lamb into uniform sizes, ensuring consistent thickness and a mix of fat and lean meat. When cooked, adding some onions, pepper, scallions, and ginger made it incredibly delicious.
She also stir fried a couple of green vegetables, completing the meal.
At that moment, Qin Lang returned. As soon as he entered the room, he smelled the fragrant aroma and walked into the kitchen to find her serving rice.
Unable to resist, he approached her from behind and gently hugged her, asking softly, “It smells great! What delicious food did you make?”
However, Lin You didn’t answer him, she ignored his intimate gesture and used her chopsticks to pick up a piece of lamb, turning to feed it to him.
As Qin Lang chewed the delicious meat, holding his beautiful wife in his arms, he felt happier than any ancient emperor.
Seeing her place the bowl of rice on the counter, he couldn’t suppress his feelings any longer. He turned her body around, and before she could react, he kissed her passionately.
He expected her to respond to his affection like usual, but this time it was unexpected.
Lin You appeared very resistant, she kept pushing him away, trying to break free from his embrace. Confused, Qin Lang didn’t understand what was happening.
Quickly releasing her, he asked in concern, “What’s wrong?”
“Did you smoke?”
Qin Lang nodded, still unsure why she was asking that suddenly.
“The smell of smoke mixed with lamb and garlic is just too unpleasant.” She turned and walked toward the bathroom to rinse her mouth.
Qin Lang followed her into the bathroom, puzzled by her actions. Was it really that bad, or was she just rejecting him?
After rinsing her mouth, Lin You still felt uncomfortable. She prepared to brush her teeth and, seeing Qin Lang’s hurt expression in the mirror, she had to explain, “Qin Lang, it really doesn’t smell good. Can you please try to smoke less in the future? Smoking isn’t good for your health.”
“Do you hate that I smoke?”
“I don’t think any doctor would be indifferent to it. I understand why you smoke, just try to cut down, okay?” After saying this, she picked up Qin Lang’s toothbrush, squeezed some toothpaste onto it, and handed it to him.
Qin Lang obediently took it and began to brush his teeth.
During dinner, Qin Lang suddenly promised, “Yoyo, I won’t smoke in front of you anymore, but I can’t quit because it’s the best way to relieve stress after missions.”
“I understand. Is the food good?”
“It’s delicious. You should eat more.” He picked up a piece of meat for her.
After dinner, Qin Lang started washing the dishes, which seemed to have become their routine: she cooked, he cleaned. Watching his diligence, Lin You felt she had worried too much before coming here, she wasn’t as resistant to him as she had imagined. Perhaps it was because they hadn’t spent enough time together and didn’t know each other well.
Once Qin Lang finished cleaning up, he went to rinse his mouth in the bathroom again, hoping to prevent her from smelling anything unpleasant.
When he came out, he noticed Lin You deep in thought, looking down.
He walked over and picked her up in a princess carry, bringing her to the bedroom. He didn’t set her down but let her sit on his lap, one hand resting on her waist to keep her from falling.
With his other hand, he turned her face towards him and seductively said, “Yoyo, it seems you’ve forgotten something.”
“What?” Her big, watery eyes fixed on him as she replied.
“Remember what you promised me during lunch?” Qin Lang reminded her with a mischievous smile.
“I didn’t promise anything, and I don’t want to know now,” she replied, unwilling.
Seeing her resistance, Qin Lang lifted his hand and pinched her soft little face, enjoying the feel of it.
Her dark eyes looked at him helplessly, reflecting only his face, satisfying his inner possessiveness.
Qin Lang’s throat moved slightly. “Then let me kiss you.”
His hand that held her waist suddenly tightened, pulling her closer. With a soft “hiss,” Lin You felt a sudden pain.
Qin Lang domineeringly captured all her breath.
Gradually, he pinned her down, and the wonderful night began.
The next day, when Lin You opened her eyes, Qin Lang was no longer by her side. The clock showed it was past nine. She reflected to herself, “Sure enough, once things start, he won’t stop, last night, he kept me busy the whole night.”
Feeling thirsty, she wanted to get up to drink water, but as soon as she moved, her body ached. Thankfully, she didn’t have to work today and couldn’t get up at all.
She turned over and fell asleep again.
Qin Lang, feeling uneasy, went to the cafeteria around noon to bring her food. Finding her still asleep, he called softly, “Yoyo, it’s time to eat. It’s already past 12:30.”
Lin You opened her eyes and moved her body, realizing she felt much better.
She grabbed the blanket, and Qin Lang quickly brought her a pillow to support her back.
“Are you hungry?”
“I want to drink water.” Her voice was hoarse, which startled Qin Lang, who hurried to get her water.
Frowning, he asked nervously, “Is this how it is every time?”
Lin You didn’t answer and shot him an annoyed glance, refusing to look at him anymore.
At that moment, Qin Lang began to understand her initial desire for a divorce. Every time they met, he truly couldn’t control himself, and he would cling to her all night. The next day, he only saw her swollen lips and never really paid attention to her physical condition because she was always asleep.
Seeing the marks on her neck made him frown, her skin was so fair and delicate. Even though he was careful, there were still traces left.
Wanting to see if she was hurt anywhere else, he began to pull the blanket off her. Lin You couldn’t resist him. As he tugged the blanket away, she could only curl up at the head of the bed, hugging her knees, and tears streamed down her face.
Noticing the bruises on her skin and seeing her cry, he carefully helped her put on her clothes, apologizing, “I’m sorry, wife. I really didn’t mean to.”
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Next time, I’ll be more careful and try not to leave any marks.”
“I promise I won’t do it again. Really, it’s just that your skin is too fair.”
Qin Lang comforted her for a long time, almost saying all the sweet nothings he had missed out on during the past six years.
He carried her to the sofa, personally feeding her, and looking at Lin You’s reproachful eyes, he found her big, sparkling eyes and her stubborn face looking up at him. Instead of appearing fierce, she was even more alluring.
But Qin Lang didn’t dare to do anything.
“I was thinking of taking you to the health team this afternoon, but it seems that’s unnecessary. We can talk about it tomorrow morning.”
“Don’t cry, don’t cry. Try to do less before work from now on.”
“I promise I won’t do anything tonight.”
