Over the next few days, Lin You no longer saw Wang Xin, and Qin Lang became unusually busy, often returning home late at night.

Qin Lang answered without hesitation, “Of course.”

Lin You smiled slightly, feeling a warm sensation in her heart.

Life is always filled with miracles and hope. As long as two people truly love each other and cherish one another, they can certainly live happily.

At noon, Lin You assisted Captain Song with a fracture surgery, causing their lunch to go cold.

Captain Song had no choice but to take them to the cafeteria, where they found a private room to sit down.

During the meal, Xiao Nan’s curiosity flared up again. She looked at the head nurse and asked, “Head nurse, since Qiong Hua has left, why haven’t you reconciled with Shan Ye?”

The head nurse paused for a moment, then continued eating without answering Xiao Nan’s question.

Seeing that the head nurse remained silent, Xiao Nan pressed on “And Shan Ye hasn’t been around lately. What’s going on between you two?”

Lin You, hearing this, couldn’t help but look at the head nurse.

The head nurse set down her chopsticks and glared at Xiao Nan “That’s enough, don’t keep going on about it.”

But Xiao Nan, undeterred, reminded her, “Be careful, he might really not want you anymore.”

The head nurse took the other end of her chopsticks and gave Xiao Nan a light knock on the head “You talk too much! Can’t you learn from Dr. Lin and keep quiet while eating?”

Xiao Nan touched her head, feeling wronged, and muttered, “I’m just concerned about you!”

The head nurse huffed, “I don’t need your concern.”

Xiao Nan immediately retorted, “I’m worried about you!”

The head nurse shot her a look “I’m not worried, why are you?”

Xiao Nan sighed helplessly “It’s really the emperor is not in a hurry, but the eunuch is.”

Upon hearing this, the head nurse couldn’t help but laugh, continuing to retort, “If I were the emperor, I wouldn’t want a eunuch like you, you talk too much.”

The others burst into laughter.

After a while, Captain Song turned to the head nurse with a serious tone “Ah, Nurse Deng, although Xiao Nan is a bit direct, she does have a point.”

“After so many years, Shan Ye finally cares about you, why hold on to the past?”

“And now that Qiong Hua has left, you should reconcile.”

Lin You nodded in agreement, adding to Captain Song’s words, “Shan Ye is really great. It’s not easy to meet someone who truly likes you in life. It would be a shame to part ways over some misunderstandings.”

The next evening, Lin You finished her day’s work and was preparing to pack up when the head nurse, Xiao Nan, and Xiao Bei came over. The head nurse smiled at Lin You and said, “Dr. Lin, we’re planning to go to the city for hot pot tonight. Do you want to join us?”

After thinking for a moment, Lin You replied, “Sure, but you’ll have to wait a bit. I’ll let Qin Lang know and go home to get my car keys.”

Xiao Bei quickly stopped her: “Dr. Lin, you don’t need to drive, Shan Ye will drive.”

Lin You couldn’t help but ask, “Huh?” Then she noticed the head nurse’s shy expression and instantly understood everything.

Still, she deliberately asked, “Head nurse, are you two getting back together?”

Lin You then picked up the intercom to communicate the evening’s plans with Qin Lang. He didn’t object but reminded her not to stay out too late and not to buy too much to carry.

Lin You smiled and replied that she understood and promised to come home early.

Xiao Nan walked over teasingly, her tone playful “Dr. Lin, you and the squad leader really seem to be in love now!”

Hearing this, Lin You couldn’t help but lightly tap Xiao Nan’s forehead, feeling a twinge of sympathy for the head nurse’s previous helplessness. Xiao Nan was great in many ways, but her straightforward personality was a bit too much.

Shan Ye drove, with the head nurse sitting in the front passenger seat. The other three sat in the back, their gazes unconsciously falling on the two in front.

The eye contact between the head nurse and Shan Ye was filled with deep affection.

Lin You, Xiao Nan, and Xiao Bei exchanged glances, their eyes full of smiles yet hesitant to laugh out loud. In that moment, Lin You suddenly understood Xiao Nan’s previous behavior, the thrill of gossiping and eavesdropping was indeed delightful.

Seeing this, Shan Ye hurriedly stood up to block them, laughing, “Sister in law, don’t scare us with jokes like that! I’ll go get you some drinks.”

With that, Shan Ye walked off, leaving the head nurse sitting there with a blushing face.

After Shan Ye left, Lin You sincerely said to the head nurse, “Head nurse, Shan Ye is really great. You will definitely be happy in the future.”

After dinner, Lin You went to the supermarket to buy some groceries before preparing to return to the base.

By the time she got back to the base, it was completely dark.

Shan Ye intended to help her carry the groceries upstairs, but Lin You felt they were not heavy, and since she lived at the very front of the family building while Xiao Nan and the others lived further back, she said, “No need, I can manage. It’s not far.”

“You all can head back now.”

After saying goodbye, they each went home.

As Lin You reached the entrance of the corridor and was about to go upstairs, she heard someone call from behind, “Lin Shimei.”

She paused, turned around, and saw Wang Xin.

She politely asked, “Senior Brother, why are you still up so late? Did you just finish your shift?”

Wang Xin shook his head and quietly replied, “No, I went out and just came back.”

Lin You nodded, noticing that Wang Xin was holding a bag, clearly something he had just bought outside.

“Let me help you carry it upstairs.”

“No need, I can do it myself.”

For a moment, the atmosphere between them felt a bit awkward, and they didn’t know what to say.

Just then, Qin Lang returned.

He immediately spotted Lin You and Wang Xin standing in front of her and overheard their conversation, a wave of displeasure surging within him.

Qin Lang strode over, took the bag from Lin You’s hand possessively, and put his arm around her shoulder, addressing Wang Xin, “Doctor Wang, it’s very kind of you to offer help, but now that I’m back, you don’t need to trouble yourself.”
