Chapter 58: Heart-to-Heart
Suddenly, Lin You didn’t expect Qin Lang to return so early. She was a bit surprised: “You’re back?”
“Mm.”
Qin Lang replied softly, then shifted his gaze to Wang Xin.
Wang Xin noticed Qin Lang’s look and their interaction, and in an instant, he understood the relationship between the two. A ripple of emotion stirred within him, but he didn’t show much, simply smiling and nodding at Qin Lang.
Qin Lang responded with a smile in return.
Lin You introduced them “This is my senior from graduate school, Wang Xin.”
Then she turned to Wang Xin and continued, “Senior, this is my husband, Qin Lang.”
Wang Xin maintained a polite smile and said gently, “So it turns out Senior’s husband is Captain Qin. You really make a great match.”
This caught Qin Lang a bit off guard, he had expected Wang Xin to show some awkwardness or discomfort, but there was none.
Qin Lang nodded, a bit surprised, and replied, “Thank you.”
As they walked along, Wang Xin felt a rush of emotions. Although he had long known of her married status, he never expected that the person would be Qin Lang.
At just 30 years old, Qin Lang already held the rank of lieutenant colonel, a remarkable achievement. From their interactions, it was evident that Qin Lang cared deeply for her, and she was very dependent on him.
Looking back on the past, Wang Xin realized he should have let go of his long standing obsession a long time ago. Yet, over the years, he hadn’t met anyone like her, and his feelings for her remained unresolved.
Deep down, he understood that his persistence was meaningless, even somewhat foolish. Yet he couldn’t control his emotions and often found himself thinking of her, despite knowing it was futile.
“Loving someone doesn’t mean you have to possess them, just seeing them happy and content is enough for me,” Wang Xin murmured, as if trying to convince himself.
Meanwhile, Qin Lang stood in the living room, his gaze fixed on the direction of the bathroom, his expression deep and complex.
The name Wang Xin was familiar to Qin Lang. In fact, a year after their marriage, his mother had mentioned this person to him.
So at that time, he had directed his mother to spread the word about Lin You’s marriage.
Wang Xin was indeed impressive handsome, capable, with a pleasant personality, and polite to everyone, as if nothing could irritate him.
He remembered hearing that she had seen Wang Xin.
Afraid she might develop feelings for him, he had taken leave that day to pick her up, just to observe her reaction. To his surprise, she had remained calm and composed, thinking only of herself, so he didn’t think much of it.
However, tonight, looking at Wang Xin, he realized he was mistaken, Wang Xin didn’t seem indifferent to her but rather seemed to love her deeply.
Otherwise, why would he look so happy to see her?
Yet Qin Lang found himself able to bless them calmly, with not a hint of jealousy. The way Wang Xin looked at her, finding satisfaction in her happiness, felt painfully glaring to Qin Lang.
To be honest, he didn’t think he could be as magnanimous as that.
The bathroom door opened, and Lin You emerged. Qin Lang refocused his thoughts, walked up to her, and took a towel to dry her hair.
“It’s getting late, why are you still washing your hair?” Qin Lang asked gently, his tone laced with a hint of pampering and concern.
“I had hot pot today, and the smell was too strong. I felt like I reeked,” she replied.
After drying her hair, Qin Lang skillfully picked up the hairdryer and started drying it.
Lin You leaned against Qin Lang, watching him with care, feeling content.
The past was behind them, and as for Senior Wang, he no longer held any significance in her life, that was just youthful folly.
Once her hair was dry, Lin You wrapped her arms around Qin Lang’s waist and pouted “Honey, I’m tired, give me a hug.”
Qin Lang obliged, lifting her onto the bed as she snuggled into his arms, finding a comfortable position.
“Are you sleepy?” he asked softly.
Lin You shook her head and then burrowed closer into him.
Qin Lang tenderly stroked her hair and gently asked, “Did you have fun eating with them today?”
Lin You looked up at him and shared about the night “You have no idea, the way the nurse and Shan Ye looked at each other was like they were in their own world. Xiao Nan said it was too sweet, and I agree, I couldn’t stand it.”
“Of course, it’s fun to gossip, no wonder so many people love to watch the drama unfold,” he remarked.
“But it was really awkward, we felt like third wheels. Next time, if Shan Ye’s around, I won’t join them,” she added, diving back into Qin Lang’s embrace.
Qin Lang chuckled softly, “Then don’t go with them next time. I’ll accompany you this weekend.”
Lin You nodded in agreement.
After a moment of silence, Qin Lang suddenly asked, “Yoyo, did you ever like Wang Xin?”
Lin You was surprised and looked up at him, confused about how he knew about her past feelings. She replied gently, “Back then, my mom’s grad students all liked him.”
“And everyone said he was charming and easygoing,” she added.
Qin Lang’s brow furrowed slightly, revealing a hint of doubt and concern as he quietly asked, “And what about you?”
Lin You pondered for a moment, keenly noticing how Qin Lang’s grip on her arm had tightened, as if he were anxious about something. She gently reached out, tenderly urging Qin Lang to lie down again, and he complied.
She lay once more on Qin Lang’s solid chest, their eyes meeting, her gaze sparkling with sincere emotions as she slowly said, “I’ve liked many people.”
Qin Lang’s eyes widened in surprise, his expression flickering for a moment before settling back into calmness, as if waiting for her to continue.
Lin You lowered her head and softly kissed his lips, stopping him just as he was about to deepen their kiss.
Then she continued, “For example, my mom and dad, and Xiao Nan and Xiao Bei I really like them all.”
A barely noticeable smile appeared on Qin Lang’s lips, and he didn’t say anything more, just quietly watched her.
Lin You gazed deeply into Qin Lang’s eyes, filled with love, and softly declared, “But I only love you, Qin Lang.”
Qin Lang’s expression softened, and he gently pulled Lin You closer, speaking firmly and earnestly “From now on, Yoyo can only love me.”
Lin You nodded without hesitation “Of course!”
Qin Lang tightened his embrace, as if trying to meld her into him. “I love you too, very much.”
Feeling Qin Lang’s affection warmed her heart, “Mm, I know.”
Qin Lang looked at Lin You and suddenly said, “Wife, let’s have a baby.”
Lin You was taken aback, looking at Qin Lang, “Why the sudden change?”
Qin Lang chuckled, “It’s not sudden, I want a child who looks like both of us.”
Lin You nodded, “Okay.”
