Chapter 108: Mrs. Zhou
Originally, Zhou Zhongcheng planned to buy a beautiful villa for Feng Yi, give him a substantial amount of money, and then introduce him to various people. But now, he doesn’t want to do anything.
For many years, Zhou Zhongcheng, who had always been flattered by his children, has been very dissatisfied with Feng Yi, who doesn’t listen to him and even remains cautious.
He also intends to teach Feng Yi a lesson.
After dropping Feng Yi off at school, Zhou Zhongcheng said, “Feng Yi, since you don’t want a house or money, then I won’t give them to you. I hope you won’t regret it.”
Feng Yi smiled. “Grandpa, rest assured, I won’t regret it.”
Seeing Feng Yi indifferent, Zhou Zhongcheng became angry again.
Zhou Zhongcheng’s bodyguard asked, “Mr. Zhou, should we send the computer and clothes that were bought for Young Master Yi before?”
Zhou Zhongcheng angrily replied, “They’ve already been bought for him. Can I take them back?” Although he was angry, he wouldn’t retract the things he had already given to Feng Yi. Compared to what he originally planned to give, those items were insignificant.
Zhou Zhongcheng had the bodyguard deliver the items to Feng Yi and return to his residence.
When he got back, he still harboured anger, and then… He saw his wife.
Zhou Zhongcheng’s wife is a bit younger than him but already in her sixties. She has always been well cared for, having never suffered any grievances, and it showed in her well-preserved appearance.
Zhou Zhongcheng used to really like her.
His family was wealthy; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to study abroad in that era. However, his family wasn’t considered a major aristocratic family, just ordinary merchants.
His wife was different. Her grandfather held a high position in the Qing Dynasty, and she had a refined upbringing since childhood.
What kind of tea to drink, what kind of food to eat, what clothes to wear—his wife had her own set of high standards.
He initially found it troublesome, but later he thought that having such a wife gave him a face.
But today, seeing her, Zhou Zhongcheng thought of his first wife.
His first wife was the daughter of his father’s good friend. Since his father’s friends had passed away early and he was studying abroad, his parents brought his first wife into the family for nurturing.
She was a quite beautiful girl, somewhat resembling his mother. When his mother took his first wife out, they were often mistaken for mother and daughter.
That woman was good at managing accounts, knew when to sow and transplant in the fields, and could organise his family’s business and fields in an orderly manner. She even cooked those common hometown dishes for him.
When his friend came to his house, his first wife even personally cooked to entertain him.
As a result, his friend left his wife and son behind!
“Why are you here?” Zhou Zhongcheng angrily asked. “I said I don’t want to see you for the time being!”
Zhou Zhongcheng’s wife’s surname is Ji, but most people call her Mrs. Zhou.
Zhou Zhongcheng has a good temper, and Mrs. Zhou has never been scolded by him like this before. Tears streamed down her face. “You’re scolding me.”
Zhou Zhongcheng, currently full of anger, said, “Why are you crying? I didn’t even hit you! You can’t endure even this bit of grievance on your own. Why were you so heartless, letting Wan Yu suffer?”
Zhou Zhongcheng’s first wife is named Li Wanyu.
Mrs. Zhou cried even harder. “You still have her in your heart after so many years; you’re still thinking about her.”
Zhou Zhongcheng knew that his wife’s mind was filled with romantic thoughts.
He used to not mind it and even enjoyed it, as she was easy to please.
But now, every time he sees his wife, he thinks of his deceased first wife and son. “So what if I think about her? She is my first wife!”
Covering her face, Mrs. Zhou looked on the verge of collapsing.
Zhou Zhongcheng’s youngest daughter, Zhou Siyue, came with her mother. She supported her mother and looked at her father disapprovingly. “Dad, Mum has been with you for forty years, and you’re actually thinking about someone else?”
Zhou Zhongcheng said, “It’s not someone else; it’s my first wife. If she were alive, you should call her Aunt!”
Zhou Siyue was stunned.
Zhou Zhongcheng continued, “Zhou Siyue, now that you’re married, stay well in your husband’s family. Don’t keep running back home all the time, just thinking about my money!”
Zhou Siyue had already married, and her husband’s family used to be wealthy but went bankrupt last year. Since then, Zhou Siyue has been constantly visiting the Zhou family.
Zhou Zhongcheng knew she was after the money, and he never stopped her before. He even supported her financially.
But today, he was in a bad mood, and his words sounded harsh.
Zhou Siyue couldn’t speak for a while, hugging her mother and crying.
Zhou Zhongcheng added, “You better not cause trouble for Feng Yi! If you dare to stir up trouble, get out of the Zhou family!”
Mrs. Zhou and Zhou Siyue cried even harder.
Zhou Zhongcheng ignored them.
Zhou Siguo had been driven away by him, so now everything had to be handled by him. Zhou Zhongcheng became busy again.
Then, Feng Yi encountered Mrs. Zhou and Zhou Siyue.
Feng Yi had encountered these two at H University. Mrs. Zhou burst into tears as soon as she saw Feng Yi, as if Feng Yi had bullied her. “Feng Yi, I’m sorry.”
Furrowing his brows, Feng Yi asked, “Who are you?”
“My dad is Zhou Zhongcheng, and this is my mum,” Zhou Siyue said from the side, scrutinising Feng Yi with an unfriendly look.
Knowing their identities, Feng Yi turned around to leave.
But Zhou Siyue stopped him, looking arrogantly, and said, “Feng Yi, we need to talk to you! What happened back then was indeed my uncle’s fault, but it has nothing to do with my mum. Now we are a family. Don’t be angry with my mum.”
“If your mum didn’t have designs on a married man, would your uncle have done that?” Feng Yi asked with a smile.
Zhou Siyue said, “Why do you speak so harshly? It’s so uncivilised!”
Feng Yi looked at her speechlessly. He thought the one lacking in civility was the other person.
With people coming and going at H University, a crowd had gathered, curiously watching Feng Yi and the others.
Suppressing her displeasure towards Feng Yi, Zhou Siyue said, “Feng Yi, forgive my mum, and also help persuade my dad.”
“I’ve told my grandpa that I won’t return to the Zhou family. But if you come looking for trouble, I might reconsider. My grandpa feels guilty towards me. He might leave the Zhou family’s property to me,” Feng Yi said.
Zhou Siyue was a bit slow to react, but Feng Yi knew she had definitely heard it.
He didn’t want Zhou’s family to disturb him. Feng Yi looked at his classmates and said, “This old lady is my grandpa’s younger wife. When she married my grandpa, my grandma was still alive. She lied to my grandpa, saying my grandma was dead, and shamelessly married him.”
“What nonsense! What a younger wife!” Zhou Siyue was furious.
Feng Yi smiled. “When your mum married my grandpa, my grandma was still alive, and they hadn’t divorced. What else can she be if not a younger wife?
Feng Yi initially didn’t intend to conflict with Zhou Siyue, but if she blocked his way, he couldn’t be blamed.
Zhou Siyue is Zhou Zhongcheng’s youngest daughter, now thirty years old. When she was born, Zhou Zhongcheng was already forty, making her a late addition to the family. As a result, she has always been spoiled and a bit capricious.
Having never suffered any grievances, she now feels overwhelmed by people around her pointing fingers at her.
Unable to endure it any longer, she left with her mother.
After she left, Feng Yi’s classmates gathered around, asking him what happened.
Feng Yi hadn’t told his classmates about the Zhou family before, but he had warned Zhou Zhongcheng that his wife and daughter might come looking for him, and these people might even approach Jiang Liyun!
If they spread rumours at Charles Hamburg’s store…
Feng Yi explained, “Let me start from not long ago when I was being tracked.”
He recounted the facts without embellishments.
“Zhou Siguo knew about your existence three years ago, concealed it, and even had someone track you. Isn’t that ill-intentioned towards you?”
“Your grandpa’s current wife, despite her age, cried. People who don’t know the situation might think you bullied her. She must have seduced your grandpa, right?”
“These people are not good.”
…
Zhou Zhongcheng initially didn’t know about his wife and daughter going to H University to find Feng Yi.
But his friend, who was a professor at H University, told him about it and advised, “Old Zhou, Feng Yi is a student with a heavy academic workload. Don’t let your family disturb him!”
This infuriated Zhou Zhongcheng.
He had repeatedly told his family not to go find Feng Yi, but they still went.
Zhou Zhongcheng didn’t say much; he just sent his wife and daughter on a plane, telling them to go back. “If you disturb Feng Yi again, I’ll change my will and leave all the property to him!”
His wife said, “I just want to apologise…”
But Zhou Siyue was frightened and left with her mother.
While her mother only cared about romantic feelings, Zhou Siyue was different.
What she wanted was mainly the money in her father’s hands.
She might not push her father towards Feng Yi!
Regardless of the events related to the furnace in the same town or the ones they brought upon themselves, Feng Yi told Jiang Liyun everything.
Jiang Liyun laughed, “Exactly, let’s do this! That family is not a good bunch.”
“Lijun sister, I didn’t want Zhou Zhongcheng’s money,” Feng Yi said.
“Don’t reject it. In the future, we might end up wealthier than him!” Jiang Liyun said.
Zhou Zhongcheng indeed had money, but he wasn’t the wealthiest. His company, along with the family disputes between his two sons over the inheritance, had already significantly reduced their family fortune.
Of course, at that time, she still couldn’t compare to them.
Those people are not easy to get along with, and it’s right for Feng Yi not to get involved. Feng Yi is so pure; if he goes to the Zhou family and is influenced by them, it wouldn’t be good!
Jiang Liyun has always viewed Feng Yi through a filter.
Feng Yi is unaware of Jiang Liyun’s filter for him. He said, “Yes, Sister Lijun, in the future, you will definitely be richer than my grandpa!”
“He believes in Jiang Liyun!
Feng Yi looked sincere, and Jiang Liyun smiled again.
She believes anything he says; Feng Yi is really naive! “
