Ji Fan avoided Jiang Cha’s gaze, not looking at her but at a single rose in a delicate white porcelain vase on the bedside table. Her expression was clear and her skin was still as white as snow.
But no one knew how fast her heart was beating just a moment ago.
She felt offended.
She didn’t like this feeling, it was strange, as if something had escaped her control.
Jiang Cha looked at her quietly.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Ji Fan’s clothes were still half-unbuttoned, revealing her snow-white chest. There was still a bite mark from Jiang Cha on her collarbone, but now her expression was only slightly lowered, her thin eyelids carrying a hint of coldness.
This was an expression she often made. When she felt that she had crossed a line and tried to draw a line and keep a distance, she would show this slight coldness, aloofness, and the disdain hidden in the corners of her eyes.
It was as if she had been doused with a bucket of cold water on a cold winter day.
Jiang Cha understood in an instant.
She was being presumptuous.
She lowered her eyes, her expression a little stiff, her long eyelashes blinked lightly, and she slowly got up from her, standing a little further away, maintaining a distant distance, and whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Jiang Cha said softly, “I won’t ask that kind of question again.”
Ji Fan looked at her quietly, and for a moment, she was actually a little flustered. This feeling was strange, making her desperately want to say something, but her lips moved but she said nothing.
She curled her fingers slightly, staring intently at Jiang Cha, her chin slightly raised, and the bony side of her face tightened into a condescendingly cold expression.
“I… I’ll keep my distance from you.”
Jiang Cha said softly.
Ji Fan’s heart raced, fast and chaotic, and she almost stood up and took the initiative to do something.
She looked at Jiang Cha, as if waiting for her to show weakness, waiting for her to come over and breathe hot air into her ear, saying something nice, like “I like you,” instead of like this now.
Jiang Cha lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes drooping, and slowly turned to leave.
That feeling of panic was strange and intense, and she suddenly spoke out.
“Jiang Cha!”
Jiang Cha turned around.
Ji Fan took a deep breath, her delicate brows and eyes still expressionless.
She wanted to say something.
But she couldn’t say anything. A strange emotion was constantly accumulating and colliding in her chest.
“Come here.”
Jiang Cha didn’t dare to disobey her.
Ji Fan took a deep breath and took a small, light blue box from the inside of her purse.
Inside the white velvet, there was a pair of diamond rings.
Jiang Cha’s expression moved slightly.
She had seen that small box a few days ago, and she had been waiting for Ji Fan to give it to her.
But she didn’t expect it to be in this situation.
“Give me your hand.”
Ji Fan held her left hand.
Jiang Cha’s hand was very beautiful, small and slender, with white skin and slightly pink fingertips, which had a translucent texture in the light.
She held Jiang Cha’s middle finger and gently put it on. It fit perfectly.
“Once you put it on, don’t take it off.”
Jiang Cha opened her eyes wide in confusion, and the sense of alienation gradually dissipated.
“What does that mean?”
Ji Fan looked up at her and said indifferently, “You don’t know what it means to wear a ring on your left middle finger?”
She looked at Ji Fan quietly, as if she had seen something, and she was a little surprised, then the corners of her lips couldn’t help but curl up.
There was a pair of women’s rings in the box, besides this one, there was another one lying quietly inside.
It was designed with hollowed-out olive leaves, delicate and elegant.
“What about you,” Jiang Cha picked up the other one, “Aren’t you going to wear it?”
Ji Fan retorted unceremoniously, “Why should I wear it? No one always bothers me.”
Jiang Cha’s face turned pale.
She almost thought that wearing this pair of rings together meant they were a couple.
The momentary contradiction was just like that.
It was just that after this incident, Jiang Cha couldn’t understand Ji Fan more and more.
••••
Monday, as night fell.
The crew’s dinner was scheduled at the revolving restaurant of the Park Hyatt Hotel.
Located in the main building of the Yintai Center in the CBD, the Park Hyatt Hotel is surrounded by high-end shopping malls and beautiful financial streets. The lobby lounge, which overlooks the magnificent financial street, is located on the 63rd floor of the Park Hyatt Hotel and offers an almost 360-degree view of the entire city.
Among the group, apart from the producer and director, there was also Luo Yan, who had recently won an international award.
Since Luo Yan hadn’t arrived yet, everyone didn’t go upstairs first and waited under the building while enjoying the night view.
“She’s here.”
Someone turned around.
Everyone stopped talking at the same time and turned to look, almost holding their breath.
Beside the marble roadblock on Youbai Road, a Maserati Levante was parked.
Pure black.
As soon as it came to a complete stop, the passenger door was pushed open from the inside.
A woman’s toes gently touched the ground.
Silver lace high heels, with thin and high heels, the arch of the foot bent into an elegant and smooth curve, the thin silver sole supported the snow-white and soft instep, and above that, were white and slender calves without stockings.
Sometimes, “sexiness” is not about figure, but about temperament.
Half of her body was hidden in the car, she lowered herself slightly, and got out gracefully.
She was wearing a red short mermaid skirt that fit the curves of her body, a bright red, a shallow V-neck, and a thin rose gold belt with inlaid diamonds around her waist, which made her slender waist look exceptionally soft. The cuffs were embroidered with dark gold edges, and from a distance, you couldn’t see the style.
Golden and red in the night, she was like a burning fire, but under her thick, long, black curly hair, her skin was as white as snow.
Snow and fire mixed together, incredibly beautiful.
She got out of the passenger seat lightly, closed the door, and then four tall bodyguards stood in front and behind her.
“Sorry, I’m a little late.”
Her tone was slightly upward at the end, and her voice was gentle yet slightly lazy. It was a very pleasant voice, like whiskey with ice and lemon, slightly intoxicating, soft yet with a hint of cool spiciness.
Jiang Cha: “…”
Jiang Cha, holding a box of yogurt she had grabbed from the car, looked at Luo Yan, then down at herself.
She had simply thought that everyone was coming out for dinner and to discuss some of the points to pay attention to when making a movie, and she hadn’t thought much of it. So she had only worn a white T-shirt and a short skirt, and she wasn’t even wearing high heels.
Compared to her, she looked more like a student who had just run out of university.
Yang Yan stood beside her, sighing and shaking her head, “Jiang Cha, see? This is what a star is.”
Jiang Cha blinked, scooped up a spoonful of yogurt, put it in her mouth, and mumbled, “There’s no need for us to hire bodyguards.”
Luo Yan saw Jiang Cha from afar, and a smile appeared in her eyes. Her red lips curved.
As she walked closer, Jiang Cha’s nerves gradually tightened.
“Nice to see you again, Jiang Cha.”
She extended her hand, “I hope we can work together happily.”
Jiang Cha extended her hand.
Luo Yan’s gaze fell.
Her gaze fell on Jiang Cha’s left hand.
On Jiang Cha’s white and slender middle finger, there was a dark golden ring. The ring was made of rose gold and shimmered with a fine light. It had a delicate, hollowed-out design of olive leaves.
Once, one of that pair of rings was meant for her.
T/N: AH!! I can’t handle this encounter. Jiang Cha deserves someone better.
Luo Yan: Hello, my double.
Jiang Cha: Nice to meet you, I’m your substitute.
Ji Fan, the scumbag: “…?
