Sweet Desire to Kiss! After Getting the Marriage Certificate, I’m Kissed Red Every Night Chapter 28

Chapter 28: “Have You Agreed to Marry Me?”

Tiansheng Group Headquarters.

In the cold and solemn president’s office.

Jiang Jinnian was discussing the bidding case for the branch office with two directors.

Just as they were getting to a crucial point, there was a knock on the office door.

The two directors turned to look back.

Zhou Lin, holding a stack of documents, nodded at them in greeting and headed straight for Jiang Jinnian’s desk, his expression somewhat serious.

“Mr. Jiang, regarding Shen Group…”

With just these few words, Jiang Jinnian raised his eyes.

Glancing at the stack of documents, without saying a word, he halted the discussion about the bidding case.

He then dismissed the directors:

“We’ll discuss the bidding case in the meeting tomorrow.”

The two directors were perceptive and quickly took their bidding materials, turning to leave.

Once they were gone, Jiang Jinnian picked up the stack of documents and began to read, asking Zhou Lin:

“What happened with Shen Group?”

Zhou Lin explained clearly, quickly reporting:

“I just received news that Shen Group has encountered problems with two major projects in quick succession. The funds at the headquarters and branch offices are in chaos, and there may be issues with the financial chain.”

“Moreover, there are several competitors behind this incident stirring the pot. If it continues depending solely on Shen Group, it will be quite difficult.”

Jiang Jinnian asked, “Where is Shen Huaiyan?”

“Mr. Shen is abroad and had a car accident; he has yet to return.”

“A car accident?” Jiang Jinnian’s brow furrowed, “What a coincidence?”

Zhou Lin also frowned. “The timing is indeed a bit coincidental, but since Mr. Shen is in a coma, the Jinming Group likely won’t be able to provide timely financing for Shen Group.”

Jiang Jinnian didn’t say anything further.

He directly instructed Zhou Lin: “Send someone to Shen Group to fill in the gaps in the financial chain first, and have someone investigate the competitors behind these two incidents.”

Zhou Lin nodded, just about to report another matter when Jiang Jinnian’s phone rang.

Looking at the number flashing on the screen, Jiang Jinnian raised his hand, interrupting Zhou Lin.

Zhou Lin wisely fell silent.

Jiang Jinnian stopped his task of reviewing the documents and pressed the answer button.

“Nanzhi?”

“Brother Jinnian.” On the other end of the line, the girl’s voice was slightly tense, seemingly nervous. “I have something I want to discuss with you.”

Jiang Jinnian lowered his gaze and glanced at his watch.

“Are you coming over, or should I come to you?”

“I’ll come over.” Shen Nanzhi asked, “Where are you now?”

“Tiansheng Headquarters.” Jiang Jinnian glanced at Zhou Lin, maintaining his usual calm tone. “I’ll have Zhou Lin go down to receive you.”

Tiansheng Group Headquarters wasn’t far from the apartment. After hanging up the phone, Shen Nanzhi didn’t delay; she quickly changed clothes and drove over.

When Zhou Lin brought Shen Nanzhi to the outside of the president’s office, Jiang Jinnian had just finished reviewing the documents related to Shen Group’s two projects.

There was a knock at the door.

Jiang Jinnian closed the documents and looked over.

“Come in.”

Although she had seen Jiang Jinnian much more frequently in the past half month compared to the previous ten years, this was still her first time visiting the headquarters of Tiansheng Group.

Assistant Zhou opened the door and stepped aside to let Shen Nanzhi in.

Meeting Jiang Jinnian’s deep, dark gaze from behind the desk, Shen Nanzhi felt her breath tighten involuntarily and steeled herself to step inside.

With Shen Group suddenly facing turmoil and being unable to contact her brother, despite forcing herself to stay calm, she was still filled with unease.

Even on the way over, her mind couldn’t help but dwell on the marriage alliance.

Since the Mid-Autumn Festival, during their private encounters, he had brought up the topic of marriage alliance three times.

Each time, there was a common justification: the marriage alliance would benefit both families’ groups.

Now, with Shen Group in crisis and stock prices plummeting, there were no guarantees that Jiang Jinnian would still be willing to acknowledge the marriage alliance, considering that it might not bring any benefits to the Jiang family and could even become a liability in the short term.

“Sit.” Jiang Jinnian’s voice interrupted Shen Nanzhi’s chaotic thoughts.

She followed his gesture and sat down at the desk opposite him.

Zhou Lin personally came over to serve tea, and Shen Nanzhi politely thanked him.

After Zhou Lin left, Jiang Jinnian’s gaze fell on the girl sitting upright across from him, her posture stiff.

“Did you come to the company for something urgent?”

Shen Nanzhi pressed her dry lips together, the long, dark eyelashes trembling slightly, and she couldn’t bring herself to meet Jiang Jinnian’s eyes directly.

Her pale fingers pressed against her palm, the increasing sting from the metal edge of her phone didn’t bother her as she steeled herself to nod and ask the question she had rehearsed in her mind since getting on the elevator with Zhou Lin.

“There is something I want to ask.”

“Brother Jinnian, I want to know… is our marriage still on the table?”

Jiang Jinnian’s fingers paused on the edge of the documents.

He looked into her eyes, and even though he tried to restrain himself, it was easy to see the flicker of anxiety deep within her misty gaze.

Jiang Jinnian relaxed his fingers from the documents, ready to give her a clear answer.

“It naturally still stands. The marriage alliance between our families was established ten years ago and will not change.”

Shen Nanzhi felt a slight relief in her chest.

Her lips moved, just as she was about to speak again.

Jiang Jinnian asked first:

“You’re willing to marry me, right?”

Shen Nanzhi’s voice caught in her throat, and she nodded.

Receiving her affirmative answer, he tapped his fingers on the desk, directly finalizing the matter of obtaining the marriage certificate.

The speed was so fast that it left Shen Nanzhi momentarily stunned.

“Years ago, when Uncle Shen and Aunt Shen mentioned marriage to my parents, they brought up the idea of getting engaged and married after you turned 20.”
