“Nanzhi, if you have no objections, we’ll go get the marriage certificate a week later, on your twentieth birthday.”
Although the timeline was tight, and getting the certificate felt rushed.
Shen Nanzhi said nothing and nodded again. “Okay.”
With the marriage settled, the next urgent matter was the situation with Shen Group.
For Shen Nanzhi, asking Jiang Jinnian for help was actually difficult to voice. Over the past ten years, they had only contacted each other privately once, and they were hardly more familiar than strangers.
However, with Shen Group’s shares and market value declining by the minute, no matter how hard it was to ask, Shen Nanzhi couldn’t afford any delays.
“There’s one more thing; I’d like to ask Brother Jinnian for help…”
“Is it about Shen Group?” Before she could finish, Jiang Jinnian cut her off.
Shen Nanzhi was momentarily taken aback.
She looked over at him.
“Come here,” he said.
Shen Nanzhi was confused but obediently walked around the large desk to his side.
Jiang Jinnian pulled up a chair and placed it beside his office chair for her to sit down.
Then, under her watchful gaze, he opened the figures Zhou Lin had compiled regarding the funding Shen Group needed.
He then accessed the highest permissions of the group and personally transferred the funds to Shen Group’s account.
“Zhou Lin has already reported Shen Group’s situation to me; don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
In the blink of an eye, a large sum of money quickly transferred into Shen Group’s account under her watch.
The next second, Shen Nanzhi’s phone buzzed with a notification.
Zhang Lan excitedly sent her a message, saying that Tiansheng’s transfer had been received, and that the secretary team from Tiansheng Group had personally arrived at Shen Group to coordinate all projects using Jiang’s resources.
Immediately afterward, Zhang Lan sent a screenshot of the company’s stock value, indicating that with Jiang’s assistance, the stocks had stopped declining and were even starting to recover.
The weight that had been pressing on Shen Nanzhi’s chest finally lifted.
She let out a long breath and replied to Zhang Lan with a couple of messages.
“Are you feeling relieved now?” Jiang Jinnian’s voice interrupted Shen Nanzhi’s thoughts.
Shen Nanzhi put down her phone, the corners of her lips curling up as she thanked Jiang Jinnian, “Thank you, Brother Jinnian.”
Jiang Jinnian did not log out of the computer, and the screen still displayed the most confidential information of Tiansheng Group. He showed no intention of hiding anything from her, allowing her to see the highest secrets of the company.
“You don’t need to thank me, and you don’t need to feel burdened.”
His voice was deep and calming, gradually soothing Shen Nanzhi’s rollercoaster emotions from the afternoon, alleviating her psychological pressure.
“The marriage between our families is mutually beneficial; you don’t need to think about it or feel indebted.”
“Nanzhi, I’m just doing what I should do.”
Shen Nanzhi’s heart gradually calmed down.
She looked up and met Jiang Jinnian’s gaze, sincerely thanking him, “Thank you, Brother Jinnian.”
There was a signing meeting scheduled at four o’clock, which couldn’t be postponed at the last minute.
Jiang Jinnian glanced at the time.
He asked Shen Nanzhi:
“Do you have any other plans afterward?”
Shen Nanzhi shook her head. “No.”
“Then wait for me for an hour; after the meeting, I’ll take you out to eat.”
Since Jiang Jinnian had just helped Shen Group, Shen Nanzhi naturally couldn’t refuse. She obediently nodded and stood up, saying, “Then I’ll go take a look outside—”
“Just stay here.” Jiang Jinnian pulled her back down into her seat. “I’ll have Zhou Lin bring some snacks and drinks over. The door back there leads to a lounge; if you’re tired, you can lie down inside for a bit.”
Shen Nanzhi glanced in the direction of the lounge, straightened her back, and sat down again, obediently acknowledging him.
Jiang Jinnian got up and walked to the meeting room.
The permissions on the computer at his desk remained unchanged.
With just a slide of the mouse, she could access the internal secrets of the Jiang family that others couldn’t touch.
Shen Nanzhi’s gaze swept over the data on the nearby screen, but she didn’t linger and didn’t touch the computer at all.
After Jiang Jinnian left, she quickly left the office area and sat far away on the guest sofa, messaging Zhang Lan to understand the situation at the company while waiting for Jiang Jinnian to return.
The signing meeting was originally scheduled for an hour and a half, but in just ten minutes, Jiang Jinnian finalized the contract and announced the meeting was over.
As he took the elevator upstairs, Zhou Lin, who had been busy all afternoon, suddenly remembered something. He slapped his forehead and hurriedly chased after Jiang Jinnian.
“Mr. Jiang.”
“There’s one more thing.”
He handed over a tablet, and the screen displayed the trending news about Su Wu being seen entering ‘Sheng Ye’ late at night.
Although Jiang Tingxu had previously allowed the news to circulate, it had only taken a few hours for the previous trending topic to be retracted.
This time, however, the trending topic had been up for a whole day and night without being taken down.
Zhou Lin couldn’t quite gauge whether Jiang Tingxu truly liked Su Wu or not, but the overwhelming trending topics were all tagged with “Jiang Family.” He felt it necessary to consult with Jiang Jinnian.
He inquired about whether they should intervene and suppress the trending topics.
“This trending news about Young Master Jiang has been brewing for quite some time, yet Guangying Media has not retracted the trending topics as of now.”
“Mr. Jiang, should I contact someone to have the trending topics removed?”
Jiang Jinnian lowered his gaze to the trending topics on the tablet.
As he raised his eyes, his gaze swept past the side and into the unguarded presidential office.
He didn’t want to disturb Shen Nanzhi, who was no longer so restrained inside. She was leaning back against the sofa with a soft pillow, her straight back relaxing a little, her eyes down as she played with her phone.
Jiang Jinnian withdrew his gaze, his tone calm.
He didn’t directly answer Zhou Lin’s question but asked a side query:
“If I remember correctly, this is already the third trending topic this month?”
Zhou Lin was taken aback for a moment, then nodded.
To be precise, it had only been ten days.
Not even a month.
Previously, although rumors about Su Wu and Jiang Tingxu surfaced occasionally, whether large or small, they didn’t occur this frequently during the recent period.
“Leave it alone.” Jiang Jinnian’s voice was subdued, pulling Zhou Lin’s thoughts back, “Since he is intent on causing a stir, even if we remove the trending topics this time, another one will surely follow in a few days.”
Zhou Lin put away the tablet, “Understood, Mr. Jiang.”
Jiang Jinnian continued forward, “Has the restaurant been booked?”
Zhou Lin quickly replied, “It’s already booked, and the car is ready.”
With the Shen Group’s funding secured, the stock began to stabilize, and Shen Nanzhi let out a long sigh of relief. No longer worried about the company, she took the earliest flight to Country A the next morning.
In the hospital ward, Shen Huaiyan had already woken up.
However, due to the brain injury from the car accident, he couldn’t be discharged immediately.
After regaining consciousness, Shen Huaiyan called over his assistant Fang Jing, who had been waiting on the sofa in the ward, and the first thing he asked was:
“The accident… You didn’t tell Nanzhi, did you?”
Seeing Shen Huaiyan awake, Fang Jing immediately stood up and promptly pressed the call button at the bedside to summon the doctor for a check-up.
“Mr. Shen, you are awake?”
“The accident…” He hesitated slightly, “I should have kept it from Miss Shen, but…”
The hospital bed raised, and Shen Huaiyan leaned against the headboard.
Noticing Fang Jing’s expression, his brows furrowed.
“Speak, what happened?”
Fang Jing, unable to hide any longer, quickly explained.
“After you fell into a coma from the accident, there was a situation at the headquarters. The group became leaderless, and some factions had ulterior motives. Zhang Lan lost his composure and called Miss Shen.”
Shen Huaiyan’s expression darkened, his lips, which had turned pale from the prolonged coma, pressed tightly together, a cold and oppressive aura enveloping the ward.
“Bring me the computer.”
Having been by Shen Huaiyan’s side for many years, Fang Jing could tell that Shen Huaiyan wanted to handle matters at the Shen Group despite his illness.
The car accident was severe, and even the attending medical team had said the situation was tricky after three days of treatment. Fang Jing dared not let Shen Huaiyan trouble himself with company affairs at this moment.
He moved aside to pour a glass of warm water for Shen Huaiyan but remained indifferent regarding getting the computer.
“Mr. Shen, the company has already stabilized and passed the crisis. The Jiang Family has sent people to take over the Shen Group, and both the headquarters and the branches have stabilized their shares, returning to a stable value.”
“Your top priority now is to recover your health. Miss Shen already knows about your accident and has called multiple times every day to inquire about your condition. Mr. Shen, forgive me for being talkative, but you should focus on resting.”
Listening to the words “the Jiang Family has sent people to the company,” a dark shadow crossed Shen Huaiyan’s eyes.
He didn’t say anything else and asked Fang Jing to bring him his phone.
As soon as he lit up the screen and before he could check Shen Nanzhi’s WeChat messages, the screen was filled with push notifications from domestic entertainment news.
Seeing the trending term “Jiang Tingxu,” Shen Huaiyan clicked on it, calmly watching the video filled with sensational rehashes, and asked Fang Jing:
“Did Nanzhi and Jiang Tingxu call off their engagement?”
Fang Jing glanced at Shen Huaiyan’s expression, hesitated for a moment, then revealed the latest developments regarding the engagement from the domestic front.
“Our sources indicated that… Miss Nanzhi’s engagement with Young Master Jiang seems to be off, but…”
Shen Huaiyan’s sharp gaze turned towards him.
Fang Jing lowered his voice, not daring to meet Shen Huaiyan’s eyes.
He looked down and continued with the second half of his sentence:
“However, not long ago, the Jiang Family’s leader, Jiang Jinnian, returned to the country, and there are rumors suggesting he may have intentions of an arranged marriage.”
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the ward instantly turned cold.
Fang Jing stood by, his head bowed.
Not daring to look at Shen Huaiyan’s expression.
