Chapter 39: Counter plot

Although Qiao Jiangxin’s words weren’t explicit, Chen Sheng understood.

“The elder sister-in-law is like a mother,” the sister-in-law is like the mother, the mother receives the bride price, and the daughter will marry…

Thinking of Deng Xiangcui’s figure and skin, Chen Sheng’s eyes lit up.

He wanted that swan!

Compared to the skinny, dark-skinned crazy woman, Deng Xiangcui was a fairy.

Chen Sheng, enduring the pain, picked up his bicycle.

Seeing Chen Sheng listen, Qiao Jiangxin relaxed her stance, “Wait, let’s make it clear.  If you bother me again, you’ll never marry!”

Chen Sheng wanted to go home, give the bride price to Qiao Fangfang, and have her leave a note. He didn’t want to tangle with Qiao Jiangxin.

He was wary of Qiao Jiangxin.  Who would mess with a crazy person?

Remembering her recent “achievements,” Chen Sheng felt a chill.

Four chickens, two pigs, and almost his uncle… How many lives did he have?

“Fine, fine, I agree.  Our matter is settled.  You hit me, but I have an idea. Can I go now?” Chen Sheng, wary, wanted to leave.

Qiao Jiangxin stood in front of the bicycle, “Swear that if you tell anyone about my illness or bother me again, you’ll never marry.”

Chen Sheng gritted his teeth, “I swear, if I tell anyone about your illness or bother you, I’ll never marry!”

“Can I go now?”

Qiao Jiangxin lowered her arms. Chen Sheng cautiously circled her and hurried away.

As his rear wheel passed Qiao Jiangxin, she suddenly roared like a beast.

A corn cob flew at Chen Sheng.

It whizzed past his head.  He pedaled frantically, his butt not touching the seat.

Bang!

“Aah!!” A corn cob hit his head, making him scream.

“Crazy woman, crazy woman!!”

Chen Sheng could imagine the crazy woman chasing him.

Watching Chen Sheng flee, Qiao Jiangxin smiled.

Chen Sheng’s mother wasn’t easy to deal with. When Deng Ming and Qiao Fangfang were dating, she disliked Qiao Fangfang.  If it weren’t for her son, Qiao Fangfang might not have married into the Deng family.

Let Qiao Fangfang enjoy her life.

Chen Sheng returned to town, injured.

Chen Sheng’s mother almost fainted. He was their only son.

Hearing that Qiao Fangfang had introduced a crazy woman to her son, she was doubtful, thinking her son was up to something.

Chen Sheng, furious after his escape, almost lost it when his mother didn’t believe him.

“Are you blind?  Do you think these injuries are fake?

You were fooled! You went to Gaoshi Village yesterday!  Is this how you investigate?

If I hadn’t gone myself, I wouldn’t know how I died at her hands!”

Chen Sheng’s mother said weakly, “I saw her yesterday. She’s thin and dark.  Why is she so terrifying?”

Chen Sheng waved his hand, “Do some investigating, and you’ll know if I’m telling the truth.

Gaoshi Village has been lively these days.

She said she killed several chickens and two pigs when she had an episode.

Her uncle is in the hospital, his bones might be broken.”

Chen Sheng’s mother knew about Qiao Fangfang’s brother’s hospitalization; she had visited him yesterday.

Her face darkened, “I’ll go find Qiao Fangfang. That bitch introduced such a terrible woman.  She thinks our family is a garbage dump!  She had the nerve to praise her!”

Chen Sheng’s mother, furious, turned to find Qiao Fangfang.

Chen Sheng stopped her.

“Mom, don’t rush. What’s the use of finding her now? She can deny it.

I have a plan. Don’t ruin it!”

Chen Sheng’s mother was displeased, “They’re outrageous!!!”

Thinking of Deng Xiangcui, Chen Sheng patiently said,

“They want a sucker to marry off their crazy daughter.  We can pay a high bride price. If it works, they’ll win big.

They’ll sell their crazy daughter for a good price.

But they didn’t expect the crazy woman to attack. We have leverage.

We can outsmart them!”

Chen Sheng looked at his mother eagerly, “Mom, remember Deng Xiangcui?”

Hearing Deng Xiangcui’s name, Mother Chen’s face darkened.

“Don’t mention her. There are many excellent girls. We don’t need to focus on her.

She’s good, but her family is snobbish, and her mother is a shrew.  Don’t you remember her yelling at our shop?”

Chen Sheng flattered, “Mom, I like Xiangcui. Her figure… her butt… she’ll definitely bear sons.

She’s a high school graduate, beautiful, and educated.  Our children will be smart!”

Chen’s mother glanced at her son, “Even if she gives birth to a genius, it’s useless. She won’t marry you!

Be ambitious! They insulted us, and you still want her?”

Mother Chen disliked the Deng family.

Their family had a shop, her husband had skills, and her son was strong.  Why weren’t they good enough?
