Sweet Military Marriage: The Little Tyrant Wife of the Soldier Became Rich Chapter 17

Chapter 17: So Cool Driving

Qian Liang took the luggage from Wei Dong’s hand and said excitedly, “Captain, how come I didn’t see sister-in-law?”

“Do I really look that ordinary?” came a faint voice from the side.

Qian Liang turned and, startled, took three steps back. “This… this…”

Wei Dong kicked him, and Qian Liang snapped out of it, his face flushed red. Though it wasn’t obvious, he stammered, “Hello, comrade.”

This young guy was quite innocent. Lian Yuqing laughed, her eyes curved like crescent moons, and said softly, “Hello, my name is Lian Yuqing.”

“I’m Qian Liang. Just call me Liangzi.” He scratched his head awkwardly.

After a while, with no movement from Qian Liang, Wei Dong said, “What are you standing there for?”

“Aren’t we waiting for sister-in-law?” Qian Liang looked around, wondering why she hadn’t shown up yet.

Wei Dong’s face darkened. He said in a deep voice, “This is her.”

Lian Yuqing blinked playfully in coordination.

“Captain, stop joking. Isn’t this your younger sister~?”

Wei Dong shot him a glance. “Want me to show you our marriage certificate?”

The air instantly turned cold. The hairs on Qian Liang’s arms stood on end as he felt Wei Dong’s death stare. He quickly said, “No need, no need.”

Wei Dong kicked him again. “Lead the way.”

Qian Liang had specially driven a jeep to pick them up. The train station was too far from the base—it wouldn’t be right to have sister-in-law take the shuttle on her first visit.

Wei Dong was sent to sit in the front passenger seat by Lian Yuqing, who claimed the entire back seat for herself. Qian Liang kept sneaking peeks at her through the rearview mirror. The captain’s wife was really beautiful—the prettiest among all the military spouses.

If Wei Dong hadn’t submitted the family accompaniment request, his subordinates wouldn’t have even known the “hell king” was married. He never talked about his wife.

Everyone in the unit had been curious what the Captain’s wife looked like. Qian Liang had beaten all the others to earn the right to pick her up. Now it all made sense—Captain didn’t talk about her to keep others from coveting her. She was that pretty.

“Ten-kilometer weighted run when we get back.”

“Huh?” Qian Liang thought he misheard until Wei Dong added, “No dinner until you finish it.”

Qian Liang looked miserable and quickly stopped sneaking glances.

Of course, Lian Yuqing noticed Qian Liang’s blatant staring, but she didn’t mind. She actually found him kind of cute.

That thought lasted less than thirty minutes—because Qian Liang’s driving was terrible.

The road was full of potholes, and he alternated between slamming the gas and stomping the brakes. For the fifth time, Lian Yuqing’s head banged into the seat in front. Anyone watching would think this was attempted murder.

“Stop the car. I want out.”

And yet again—he stomped the brakes hard.

“Did you just learn to drive today?” Lian Yuqing weakly grabbed the seat in front and questioned him.

Qian Liang’s face turned beet red. He’d technically learned to drive six months ago but rarely had chances to practice, so he was out of touch.

“If you keep driving, I’ll die on the way.”

Qian Liang looked at Wei Dong and asked timidly, “How about…”

“No. I don’t trust him either,” she cut in.

Wei Dong silently stared at her. His look clearly said: So what do you want to do?

After sipping some water and feeling better, Lian Yuqing opened the door, got out, and walked around to the driver’s side. She opened the door. “Get out. I’ll drive.”

Qian Liang froze. Wei Dong calmly said, “Let her.”

Lian Yuqing got in and instinctively reached for the seatbelt, only to find none. She nudged Wei Dong. “Explain how to drive this thing.”

Qian Liang cowered in the back, too scared to speak. Does sister-in-law really know how to drive? If she did, why did the captain have to teach her?

Wei Dong raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you say you could drive?”

Lian Yuqing glanced sideways at him. “I’ve never driven this kind of car.”

Hmph. This lady used to drive a Bugatti, okay?

In a few minutes, Wei Dong explained all the controls, and the car started smoothly.

Qian Liang’s face got even hotter. Sister-in-law drove so smoothly, the ride wasn’t bumpy at all.

“Sister-in-law, how long have you been driving?”

“Ten…” —Ten years, a seasoned pro—but she changed mid-sentence—“My dad taught me when I was ten.”

During the drive, Qian Liang and Lian Yuqing chatted casually. Wei Dong stared out the window. Her past life and current one were worlds apart.

He, for one, didn’t learn to drive until years into the military.

As they approached a curve, Lian Yuqing turned the wheel with one hand, smoothly maneuvering through it.

Qian Liang’s eyes widened—Sister-in-law is so cool!

After an hour’s drive, they reached the base.

The soldier on guard at the gate was stunned to see a beautiful girl driving. Then he looked at the license plate—it was a military vehicle!

Qian Liang got out. “What are you staring at? This is our captain and his wife.”

The soldier looked through the lowered window and saw Wei Dong in the passenger seat. “Captain Wei is back from leave!”

“Hello, sister-in-law!”

Lian Yuqing smiled at them. Qian Liang jumped back into the car. “Hurry and open the gate.”

Once the jeep passed through, the young soldiers looked at each other—Captain Wei’s wife wasn’t just beautiful, she could drive.

Lian Yuqing’s name soon spread throughout the entire base.

The car stopped in front of the family housing compound. Wei Dong and Qian Liang carried the luggage while Lian Yuqing followed behind.

The housing was newly built and not fully occupied yet. Because of Wei Dong’s rank, once he submitted the request, they’d approved a 90-square-meter unit for him.

The political instructor patted Wei Dong’s shoulder and congratulated him. “Hope you become a dad soon. The place is big enough for several kids.”

Down in the courtyard, a group of military wives were chatting. When they saw Captain Wei return, they all greeted him warmly.

Wei Dong introduced Lian Yuqing. She just smiled politely—she didn’t plan on staying long and saw no need to get too close.

As they started walking upstairs, the women started whispering.

“Wow, Captain Wei’s wife looks like that?”

“Look at that chest, that butt—like some kind of vixen!”

Their unit was on the third floor. As they reached the corner, a clear female voice rang out, “Brother Wei, you’re finally back!”

Lian Yuqing’s view was blocked by the two men in front of her.

Wei Dong’s voice remained calm. He nodded. “Mm.”

Standing on the steps was a bright-eyed young woman with long black braids, a white blouse, and a black skirt—clean and pure, a real beauty.

“Come have dinner at my place tonight! My brother’s been talking about you for days. I’ll make your favorite braised pork, and you two can drink a bit!”

“Maybe next time. It’s not convenient today.”

Her eyes dimmed, full of disappointment. “Why not?”

Wei Dong stepped aside, revealing Lian Yuqing behind him. “My wife just arrived. We need to get the house in order.”

Lian Yuqing’s lips curved into a smile. She clearly saw the girl jerk her head up, eyes wide with shock—as if she’d just seen a ghost—at the word wife.

“So sister-in-law is here.” The girl forced a smile and said, “You should’ve come sooner. Brother Wei works really hard. I’ve seen him come back from training without eating and just collapse into bed.”

Lian Yuqing shrugged. “And you are?”

She was secretly pleased—because the girl’s expression froze. From her second sentence on, Lian Yuqing could already tell this one wasn’t innocent.
