Once their pants were dry, Wei Jin and Meng Yue Sheng headed to the hat store.
There were many eye-catching hats for kids, but one in particular grabbed Wei Jin’s attention: a white cap with rabbit ears, one standing up straight while the other drooped over the brim. She took one look at it and knew it would be perfect for Meng Yue Sheng.
“That one! That one!” Wei Jin tugged at Meng Yue Sheng’s arm, pointing at the hat, “Do you see it? A bunny! A little bunny!”
Meng Yue Sheng followed the direction of her finger and saw the hat, his voice completely calm, “Ah… yeah, I see it.”
“Wear that one! Wear it!” Wei Jin’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“You?” Meng Yue Sheng asked, even though he already knew the answer.
“Not me, you! You wear it!” Wei Jin shook her head quickly, tugging on his arm.
Her enthusiasm drew curious glances from the other visitors around them.
The omega shop owner smiled awkwardly, not quite sure what was happening but silently pleading with Meng Yue Sheng for help.
“Okay, okay, I’ll wear it,” Meng Yue Sheng said, finally giving in, holding onto Wei Jin to calm her down, “But you have to wear one too.”
“Wear a bunny hat with you?” Wei Jin glanced around at the other hats, none of which had ears like hers, “Alright, I’ll wear one with you…”
Meng Yue Sheng’s eyes twinkled, and he didn’t object, “Deal.”
Though that wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, since Wei Jin was so enthusiastic, he couldn’t say no.
Still, the thought amused Meng Yue Sheng. He wondered how Wei Jin would react if she ever found out that he actually had real bunny ears one day.
Wei Jin made Meng Yue Sheng lower his head, carefully placing the bunny hat on his head, then playfully pinching the fake bunny ears.
Of course, since the ears weren’t real, Meng Yue Sheng couldn’t feel anything.
He also put a bunny hat on Wei Jin, and with the bunny ears, she looked even more adorable, “Cute,” he said, pinching her cheeks.
“By the way, I haven’t asked you yet—what’s your animal trait?”
“It’s a secret,” Meng Yue Sheng teased, not ready to reveal that just yet.
Wei Jin pouted, dragging out her words, “Aw~ tell me, pleeease…”
“How about you tell me yours first?” Meng Yue Sheng countered.
“Sure! My animal trait is a little doggie~” Wei Jin batted her eyelashes, “Meng Yue Sheng, do you like dogs?”
Meng Yue Sheng deliberately avoided answering, and Wei Jin rubbed her face against his arm until he gave in, “Yes, I like them, I like them…”
“What’s your favorite kind of dog?” Wei Jin pressed on.
“I like you.”
Meng Yue Sheng didn’t know exactly what kind of dog Wei Jin could turn into, but no matter what form she had, as long as it was her, he would love it.
“Really? Even if it’s a husky?”
“A husky?”
“Yeah, you know, a Siberian husky…” Wei Jin explained with a pitiful look, “My mom always says huskies are kind of dumb.”
Meng Yue Sheng patted her head, “Not dumb.”
“Really?”
“If it’s you, it’s cute.”
“So can you tell me what your animal trait is?” Wei Jin, still curious, refused to give up.
“Nope.”
“Boohoo…”
“You’ll find out eventually,” Meng Yue Sheng said softly, “It should be a surprise.”
“Fine~” Wei Jin finally gave in, holding his hand as they searched for a ride with a shorter line.
There was a spinning teacup ride that didn’t have many people in line, so they got on. It seemed fine at first, but as soon as it started spinning, things quickly took a turn for the worse.
The colors blurred together in a dizzying swirl.
Wei Jin gripped the handles tightly, frowning as she fought off nausea, “Meng Yue Sheng, are you okay? Why is this spinning so fast—ahh—”
“My head feels like it’s being scrambled… I can’t take it…”
Unable to hold out any longer, Wei Jin shut her eyes tightly.
Meng Yue Sheng couldn’t help but laugh for once, “I’m fine. It’s almost over, just hang in there…”
“Okay…” Wei Jin mumbled weakly.
Meng Yue Sheng moved closer to her, placing his arm around her, “Alright, alright, it’ll be over soon…”
“Mm-hmm, okay~” Wei Jin snuggled into Meng Yue Sheng’s arms, clearly miserable.
When the teacup finally stopped spinning, Wei Jin clung to Meng Yue Sheng like a little chick, relying on him to help her down the small stairs.
By the time they got off, Wei Jin actually felt much better, but she still pretended to be weak, leaning heavily against Meng Yue Sheng and moaning as if she were still suffering.
Her overdramatic act earned a few snickers from the alpha tourists behind them.
“Just a few spins and she’s already dizzy? Can’t even walk?”
“Hmph, no alpha pride at all. Look at me! I didn’t feel a thing!”
“Bro, I’m an alpha, why are you telling me this? Besides, that one has an omega…”
“I…”
“Don’t even start…”
Wei Jin couldn’t help but glance back—it was two young alphas, probably college students, which would explain their clear, youthful stupidity.
Seeing that they’d noticed her, Wei Jin flashed a cheeky smile.
Haha, look at me, I’ve got my wife supporting me~
Then she turned back, pouting dramatically as she complained to Meng Yue Sheng, “Boohoo, I really was dizzy~ Does that mean I have no alpha pride?”
Meng Yue Sheng, who had also heard the conversation behind them, chuckled but still played along, “It’s okay. In my eyes, you have the most alpha pride…”
“Hehe, you’re the best~”
“Careful, we’re going down the steps.”
Behind them, the two alphas were left speechless, “…”
What’s wrong with her? Why do I feel like she’s toying with us?
Once they were far enough away, Wei Jin finally burst out laughing. Meng Yue Sheng pinched her nose, “Was it really that funny?”
“Of course! Hahaha!” Wei Jin wriggled out of his grip, rubbing her nose with her fingers, “Wasn’t I just the perfect little tease back there? I almost said, ‘Would brother despise me for not having alpha pride? I’m not like those smelly alphas, I only care about my dear brother~’ Hahaha…”
“Yeah, you were a bit sassy.” Meng Yue Sheng nodded, “But no matter what, you’re always adorable.”
“Really?” Wei Jin smirked triumphantly, “Meng Yue Sheng, do you know what happens when you think someone is cute? You’re done for!”
“Hm?”
“You’re falling in love!”
Wei Jin was joking around at first, but when she saw Meng Yue Sheng’s serious expression, her heart skipped a beat. She quickly added, “To me, you’ll always be the cutest!”
Meng Yue Sheng looked at her thoughtfully, “Got it…”
Wei Jin could barely wait to get on the Ferris wheel with Meng Yue Sheng.
She couldn’t hold back anymore.
But it wasn’t evening yet, and the night lights hadn’t come on, so the mood wasn’t quite right.
Sensing Wei Jin’s hesitation, Meng Yue Sheng spoke up first.
“There’s no rule that says we have to ride the Ferris wheel at night, right?”
Wei Jin’s eyes lit up.
“That’s true.” She eagerly grabbed Meng Yue Sheng’s hand, “Let’s go now, okay?”
Meng Yue Sheng held her hand tightly, “Okay.”
They crossed half the amusement park, and when they arrived at the Ferris wheel, there was hardly any line. A few tired couples were resting in the shade near the railings, talking quietly, while the sun-drenched benches nearby were piled with bags and snack wrappers.
When they got there, the Ferris wheel had already reached its station. The staff waited a while for a few more people to board, and when it seemed like no one else was coming, they let them on.
The Ferris wheel slowly started up.
Wei Jin and Meng Yue Sheng sat facing each other, the silence between them heavy. Now that they were finally on the Ferris wheel, Wei Jin found herself tongue-tied.
Her heart pounded wildly.
She was nervous.
Uneasy.
The small cabin had a window open, letting in a breeze, though the sun still shone brightly, and a little bit of the cool air managed to circulate inside.
Wei Jin let out a deep sigh, surprised by how loud it sounded, and immediately looked up at Meng Yue Sheng.
Their eyes met.
Startled, Wei Jin quickly averted her gaze, then, realizing how silly that was, looked back at him.
“Are you nervous?”
Wei Jin, feeling like she’d been rescued, nodded quickly. Now that he’d spoken, it was easier for her to let her thoughts out.
“I’ve always wanted to ride the Ferris wheel with you and tell you everything I’ve been meaning to say… but now that I’m here, I can’t get the words out…”
For some reason, her emotions suddenly surged, and her eyes felt hot, as if all her pent-up frustrations were about to overflow. She kept her head down, not daring to look at him again.
“I originally planned to wait until evening when the lights of the amusement park would be on, and then we’d ride the Ferris wheel together. It would’ve been beautiful, romantic even, but now… it’s not even afternoon yet… it’s not romantic at all…”
“And once again, you’re just accommodating me…”
Yes, that was the truth.
All along, it had been Meng Yue Sheng going along with her wishes.
Sniff.
Wei Jin felt a little bubble of snot forming in her nose.
“I just feel like I’m not much of an alpha… I want to give you all these romantic moments, but it seems like I keep messing everything up…”
“Are you tired from all the walking today?”
Wei Jin’s eyes were red, tears clinging to the corners but not quite falling.
Since Meng Yue Sheng hadn’t said anything, she had no choice but to fight back her tears and look up at him.
Meng Yue Sheng rested his arm against the window frame, his face propped up on his hand as he gazed at her, a faint smile playing at his lips.
“Are you about to shed golden tears?”
The sunlight glinted off his glasses, and Wei Jin felt like the sun had flashed directly into her eyes when she looked at him.
“No…” Wei Jin pretended to fix her hair, discreetly wiping away her tears, “Are you laughing at me?”
“Mm.”
He admitted it honestly.
“Go ahead and laugh…” Wei Jin nudged his knee with hers, feeling a bit better, “By now, you’ve seen me in every possible way, so this isn’t anything new.”
“I want to say something—I want to tell you—”
“I really like you.”
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
Wei Jin looked seriously at Meng Yue Sheng and said solemnly, “I’ve owed you a proper confession for a long time. Maybe it’s not too late now?”
“We get along so well that it would be a crime if we didn’t get together…” she whispered.
“What about you? What’s your answer?”
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
Wei Jin clasped both of his hands, hoping for his answer.
To Meng Yue Sheng, this passionate little puppy had tried so hard, maybe it was time to give her an answer.
He sat up straighter, moving his other hand from the window frame to touch her cheek, his fingers brushing over her flushed eyelids.
“Yes. I’m willing.”
It felt like everything had finally settled into place.
“I’m willing, Wei Jin…”
The Ferris wheel slowly rose to one-third of its height.
Upon hearing Meng Yue Sheng’s response, Wei Jin felt tears well up again, but he gently wiped them away before they could fall.
“Since you’re my boyfriend now, you should kiss me…”
Wei Jin blinked, moving over to sit beside him.
With both of them sitting on the same side, the cabin felt noticeably more cramped.
“Kiss me, come on…” Wei Jin nudged Meng Yue Sheng’s arm, urging him.
Meng Yue Sheng glanced at her half-closed eyes, chuckling softly, “So eager, huh?”
Her eyes, which hadn’t fully closed, snapped open again.
“Teach me how~”
Her nose was still red, her eyelashes damp, and her lips parted in a soft pout, pleading.
Meng Yue Sheng released her hand, taking off his glasses with one hand and cupping her cheek with the other.
A gentle kiss landed on her lips.
The softness of their lips meeting, brief and fleeting.
“Not enough…” Wei Jin hadn’t even closed her eyes before Meng Yue Sheng pulled back.
She leaned in, chasing his lips, “Give me a bit more…”
She heard him chuckle under his breath.
“So greedy, huh…”
His soft kisses fell again, one on her upper lip, another at the corner of her mouth, slowly exploring until their lips and tongues met…
Their hands, already cradling each other securely.
Time blurred, leaving only the sound of their breath mingling and the heat of their kiss.
She was completely lost in Meng Yue Sheng’s presence.
It felt like floating on a rainbow.
