Tang is my Obsession Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Xue Wanqiu was initially hesitant to let her go alone, but seeing her bright eyes and thinking that Uncle Shang was accompanying her, she figured it would be fine.  She packed the food and let her go.

This was Shen Chutang’s first time going to Shi Chengyu’s company.  She was both excited and looking forward to it.  Thinking that she could give him a surprise later, she couldn’t help but feel happy.

But when she got there, Shen Chutang realized she couldn’t even get to the building.

She had just gone inside and was about to find the elevator.  She realized she didn’t know which floor Shi Chengyu was on.  She was about to ask when she was stopped by the receptionist.  “Miss, who are you looking for?”

Shen Chutang was carrying the food container.  “I’m looking for Shi Chengyu.  Could you please tell me which floor he’s on?”

The receptionist smiled.  “I’m sorry, do you have an appointment?  If not, please wait over there.  I’ll go ask.”  She seemed to be convinced that Shen Chutang didn’t have an appointment.  She gestured for her to wait on the sofa over there.

People like this, who said they were going to find Shi Chengyu every day, were not uncommon.  They were used to it.

Shen Chutang was here to deliver a surprise.  How could she have an appointment?  Besides, she didn’t even know she needed one.  She was startled for a moment, said thank you, and walked towards the sofa.

Shen Chutang waited for a while, but the receptionist didn’t come over to tell her.  The soup was getting cold.

If she told him that she had come, he would be surprised, right?

Shen Chutang wanted to send Shi Chengyu a message, but she realized she had come out in a hurry and hadn’t brought her phone.

She cursed herself under her breath.  Shen Chutang looked towards the reception desk again, wondering whether to ask them to borrow a phone to call him.

But a familiar figure suddenly appeared in her line of sight.  It was Lin Shulang.  He was leading a group of people out.

He had just finished a meeting.  Lin Shulang was sending a client downstairs.  He glanced casually and saw Shen Chutang sitting on the sofa in the lobby, smiling happily at him.  He was startled for a moment, and his voice even trembled a little.

He quickly sent the client out and ran back in.  “Little Miss, why are you here?”

Shen Chutang stood up and pointed to the food container on the table.  “I came to bring Brother Chengyu some food.  Can you take me up?”

Lin Shulang glanced at the receptionist and then picked up the food container.  “Okay, I’ll take you up.”

The receptionist was stunned for a long time, watching Assistant Lin run over.  She didn’t come to her senses until Assistant Lin respectfully took her away.  A moment later, she received a text message:  Remember this face.  Let her go up whenever you see her.  Even if you have to stop the CEO at the door, you can’t stop this one.

She was startled and thanked her repeatedly.  She couldn’t help but wonder what kind of identity this Miss had.

Shen Chutang followed behind Lin Shulang.  She watched him knock on the door, and then Shi Chengyu’s voice came from inside.  “Come in.”

Lin Shulang pushed open the door and put the food container on the table.  “Mr. Shi, eat first.”

Shi Chengyu looked up.  “Put it there first.”

He paused his signing.  “Who sent it?”

“Me!” Shen Chutang poked her head out from behind the door.  “Brother Chengyu!”

“Tangtang?”

Shi Chengyu stood up.  He looked at her and then at Lin Shulang.  He asked, “When did you come?”

Lin Shulang said, “I just happened to meet her downstairs.  Miss Shen must have been waiting for a while.”

Shen Chutang had already thrown herself into Shi Chengyu’s arms.  “Not long.  It’s just that it’s cold, and the soup cools down quickly.”

“I’ll go heat it up.” Lin Shulang said, picking up the food container and leaving.

Shi Chengyu held her cold hand, feeling a little heartache.  “Why are your hands so cold?  Why didn’t you tell someone when you came?”

“I wanted to give you a surprise.  Who knew it was so hard to see you now?” Shen Chutang said half-jokingly.

Shi Chengyu warmed her hands.  “My fault.  I wronged Tangtang.”

Shen Chutang pretended to be angry and asked him, “Also!  Why didn’t you eat when the food arrived?  How long would you have waited if I hadn’t come?”

“You’re the one who did wrong.”

Shen Chutang snorted.  “If you finish all the food I brought later, I’ll forgive you.”

“Okay, I promise to finish it all.” Shi Chengyu’s voice was helpless and indulgent.  “Did Tangtang eat?”

Shen Chutang suddenly felt a little guilty.  She had just said that Shi Chengyu didn’t eat properly, and then she realized that she hadn’t eaten either.

“I wanted to eat with you.” Shen Chutang looked at him with innocent eyes.  Shi Chengyu couldn’t bear to blame her.

He sighed.  “What am I going to do with you?  Hmm?”

Shen Chutang thought for a moment, playing with his fingers.  “You can’t blame me anyway.”

“When have I ever blamed you?” Shi Chengyu pinched her cheek.  He felt like she had lost a little weight.

Shen Chutang also reached out to pinch Shi Chengyu’s face.  “Brother Chengyu, you’ve lost weight.”

Shi Chengyu agreed.  “Hmm, I’ve been busy lately.  I’ll take you out to play when I’m finished.”

“No.” Shen Chutang refused.  “I don’t want you to be so tired.”

Shi Chengyu chuckled softly.  “Okay, then… give me some more time, Tangtang.”

Lin Shulang came in with the food container.  He saw the two of them sitting on the sofa, pinching each other’s faces, both smiling.  It was really hard to interrupt.

“Let’s go eat.” Shen Chutang pulled him over.  The food had already been taken out.  Xue Wanqiu had indeed prepared food for two, four dishes and one soup.

Shen Chutang put food on his plate.  “Auntie Xue came today.  She was waiting for you to come back together, but Uncle Shang said you weren’t coming back.”

Shi Chengyu asked her, “Are you tired?  Does your hand hurt?”

“Ah?” Shen Chutang was stunned for a moment.  “I’m not tired.  It doesn’t hurt.”

“The trip was fun.  The food container was next to me.  I was afraid it would spill.  Uncle Shang drove very steadily…”

Shen Chutang laughed as she talked about the experience of bringing food all the way here.  Shi Chengyu just watched her, putting food on her plate, his heart feeling full, warm, and swelling.

After dinner, Shen Chutang remembered that she hadn’t told Uncle Shang yet.  Shi Chengyu told her that Uncle Shang had gone back.

He still had a few documents to finish before he could leave.  Shen Chutang obediently snuggled on the sofa and played on her tablet.

Once there was a first time, there was a second and a third.

Shen Chutang seemed addicted.  Every time Shi Chengyu said he was going to work late, she would go and deliver food.  They would supervise each other’s eating.  They would eat at the company four or five times a month.

The receptionist on the first floor had memorized her.  Every time she came in, the receptionist would greet her and take her up to her floor.  The second time Shen Chutang came, the receptionist from last time apologized to her.

Shen Chutang didn’t mind.  Besides, it was her job.  It was normal for people not to recognize her the first time she came.  She couldn’t just let anyone go up.

“Little Miss, you’re here.” The receptionist didn’t know her last name.  She just called her Little Miss, following Lin Shulang.

“I’ll take it.”

Shen Chutang handed her the food container and then handed her a box of fruit platter.  “Thank you.  This is for you.”

“No problem, no problem.  You’re welcome.” The receptionist said, flattered.

The elevator reached the top floor.  The receptionist returned the food container to her.  “Little Miss, have a nice day.”
