Chapter 35
Shen Sichen was reluctant, but he couldn’t resist Shen Chutang’s pouting. With those big, watery eyes staring at him, he couldn’t refuse.
He arranged for a private jet, a butler, two maids, and a few bodyguards to accompany them.
That afternoon, Shen Chutang and Xie Tong were already on the plane leaving Beijing. Xie Tong was still sighing, yesterday she was complaining to Shen Chutang about being bored at home, and today she was already going out to play. She was rolling around on the bed in the rest room, so happy. She chatted with Shen Chutang all the way.
Shi Chengyu didn’t get any replies to his messages all afternoon. He was completely panicked. He was still wearing slippers when he ran to the Shen family’s house. But he learned from Uncle Wen that Shen Chutang had already gone out to play, and it was a long way away.
“Didn’t the Little Miss tell you?” Uncle Wen asked in surprise.
Shen Chutang had always been closest to Shi Chengyu since she was little. It was rare for Shi Chengyu not to know where she was.
Shi Chengyu looked like he had lost his soul. His usual calm and composed demeanor was completely gone. He couldn’t leave, but he couldn’t stay here either.
As he was standing there in a daze, Shen Sichen came out of the villa. “Chengyu? Why are you here?”
Shi Chengyu came to his senses. “I, I came to find Tangtang.”
“Tangtang went out to play. Didn’t she tell you?” Shen Sichen was also surprised.
Everyone thought Shen Chutang would tell him, but she didn’t.
Shi Chengyu felt like he was having trouble breathing. He struggled to pull a smile. “Maybe, she forgot.”
“Where did she go?” He asked again.
Shen Sichen said, “She said she’s going to Switzerland first, and the rest is undecided. She has a butler and bodyguards with her.”
“Will she be gone for a long time?” Shi Chengyu asked again.
“Yeah, she said she’s going to relax.” Shen Sichen’s voice was a little helpless. Then he suddenly remembered something. “Oh, right, you’re with Tangtang all the time, have you ever seen her close to any male classmates?”
Shi Chengyu shook his head. He had already asked Lin Shulang about this and had people investigate.
“Tsk. This little rascal, she hid it well. I just praised her for her good taste, how could she fall for such a thing.”
Shi Chengyu listened to him and asked hesitantly, “What?”
“Sigh…” Shen Sichen sighed. “Tangtang said she has someone she likes, and she said that person doesn’t like her. That jerk has no taste. Don’t let me catch him.”
Shen Sichen said through gritted teeth, then patted Shi Chengyu on the shoulder. “I’m going back to Jingyuan. You go back too. If you have any questions, just ask Tangtang. She won’t land until tomorrow.”
Shen Sichen had already left, leaving Shi Chengyu standing there alone. Neither of them realized at this moment that the “jerk” Shen Chutang liked, according to Shen Sichen, was Shi Chengyu.
Shi Chengyu didn’t know how he got home. The moonlight shone in from the window, casting a cold glow on the floor.
Shen Chutang had someone she liked, so she wasn’t willing to let him hug her or touch her anymore. She didn’t even tell him where she was going.
But if Shen Chutang had someone she liked, why did she want to kiss him last night?
But…
Suddenly, it was as if something had broken free from its shackles, sweeping away Shi Chengyu’s reason, making him even more clear-headed. His thoughts suddenly turned a corner. It wasn’t that Shen Chutang had someone she liked and wouldn’t let him touch her, but that the person she liked was him. She was angry because he had rejected her that day.
Thinking about it this way, everything seemed to make sense.
A voice in his head told him that the person Shen Chutang liked was him. He was happy, but also felt afraid, feeling like he was being delusional.
No matter what he was like outside, how well he planned and controlled everything, he was always like an immature young boy when he was with Shen Chutang.
He laughed one moment and cried the next. His mood fluctuated. He suddenly realized what he had done.
He had never thought that the first person to make Shen Chutang so heartbroken would be him.
Shen Chutang really had grown up, as she said. But he had never treated her like an adult.
If he hadn’t panicked and explained things properly to Shen Chutang when she wanted to kiss him yesterday, would she have been so sad…
But now there were no answers. Shen Chutang was thousands of miles away, separated by distance and time difference. Even the moonlight couldn’t shine on both of them at the same time.
*
When Shen Chutang landed, it was more than ten hours later. Her phone had over twenty messages. There were messages from Shen’s parents, who were worried about her going out alone. There were also messages from her three brothers, and of course, from Shi Chengyu. In addition, there were several money transfer messages.
She replied one by one. When she got to Shi Chengyu’s message, she didn’t know what to say. Shi Chengyu apologized to her at first. But what had he done wrong? He had just rejected her, rejected someone he didn’t like. What was wrong with that? After a while, he asked her where she had gone to play. Finally, he told her to be safe and have fun.
Looking at it now, Shen Chutang still felt a little heartache. It turned out that leaving wouldn’t make those feelings disappear.
Xie Tong leaned over, “What’s wrong, Tangtang? If you don’t want to go back, then don’t.”
Shen Chutang shook her head and sent a message back.
He didn’t reply, but he made a video call. Shen Chutang was stunned for a moment before answering. Xie Tong quickly went back to her room.
The two of them looked at each other through the screen. Shen Chutang was a little afraid to look into his eyes, so she lowered her gaze.
“Did you get to the hotel?”
“Hmm, just arrived.”
“Are you tired? Do you need to adjust to the time difference?”
“I slept on the plane, I’m not tired now.”
“Tangtang.” Shi Chengyu called her, looking at her face, which was a little too pale on the screen. Her long hair hung down, covering her beautiful eyes, casting a shadow under her eyes.
“That day, I…”
“That day I was drunk, Brother Chengyu.” Shen Chutang interrupted him, remembering that day, her cheeks flushed slightly red.
“Okay.”
“When will Tangtang come back?”
Shen Chutang pursed her lips, “I haven’t decided yet.”
She was a little confused. She wanted to think things through, figure things out, and not continue like this in a daze.
“Okay, Tangtang, I’ll wait for you.” Shi Chengyu’s voice was gentle. Unlike Shen Chutang, he didn’t avoid her gaze. Instead, he looked at her the whole time. He saw her hesitation, her confusion, and her sadness.
Although he missed her and was reluctant, this time, Shi Chengyu decided to respect Shen Chutang’s choice. He knew that Shen Chutang was never a clueless little girl. It was just that most of the time, she didn’t need to think about many things.
She had been smart since she was little, and she had her own thoughts and opinions about many things. This time, he wouldn’t interfere with her decision. No matter what the outcome, he would respect it.
It’s just that he would never let go.
“Tangtang, I’ll always wait for you.”
Shen Chutang’s heart skipped a beat, “I… I understand.”
If Shen Chutang looked up now, she would see the tenderness and the undisguised love in his eyes, but she didn’t dare to. She didn’t dare to think about the meaning behind those words.
Maybe, as Second Brother said, liking someone is a one-person thing. She couldn’t cause him more trouble because of her feelings.
