Chapter 39
Shen Chutang followed her gaze and saw her slightly protruding belly. “Sister-in-law… you!”
Zhao Wenxian met her shocked gaze, her cheeks flushed. “It’s been three months.”
“Do you want to touch it?”
Shen Chutang nodded in a daze, and Zhao Wenxian placed her hand on her belly. “He’s very well-behaved, not at all fussy.”
If she hadn’t suddenly fainted in class a while ago and been sent to the hospital, they both wouldn’t have known about the arrival of this little life. Fortunately, it wasn’t serious, but she started maternity leave that day and rested at home.
Shen Chutang placed her hand on it, not daring to move, as if she could feel something moving, but in reality, there was nothing. “I’m going to be an aunt?”
“Yes, after the New Year, you’ll officially be an aunt.”
“It’s so amazing.” Shen Chutang whispered in awe. “Sister-in-law, it’s so amazing.”
“The kittens in our cat cafe also give birth to babies. The kittens are only as big as a palm when they’re born.”
Zhao Wenxian smiled softly. “This isn’t a kitten.”
As they discussed this, Shen Chutang had already started worrying about what kind of gift to give the baby in her belly. She also said she wanted to buy him lots and lots of new clothes.
Shi Chengyu was helping Shen Yanheng in the kitchen. He had heard about Zhao Wenxian’s pregnancy before Shen Chutang, but he heard it online.
Zhao Wenxian teaches at A University. That day, Shen Yanheng happened to be at A University for a meeting. He saw Zhao Wenxian being taken away in an ambulance. He left a group of school leaders and rushed over, holding her up. With so many people around, it was inevitable that someone would take pictures and post them online. However, they were quickly taken down, and after a while, the heat died down.
They had been married for two or three years. To put it nicely, it was an arranged marriage. To put it bluntly, it was a political marriage. However, they hadn’t expected that time could change so much.
“Big brother, is sister-in-law okay?” Shi Chengyu asked.
“The doctor said she’s fine. It’s just that we both discovered it late, so she suffered a bit.”
Shen Yanheng’s voice carried a hint of heartache. People like them rarely showed their emotions, but recalling that day, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of fear.
“It’s good that she’s okay.”
Both of them were not good at expressing themselves. Besides formal occasions, they rarely spoke to each other in private. They didn’t have anything to talk about, so they just cooperated in making dinner.
Shen’s parents and Shen Sichen had come a few days earlier, so they only invited Shen Chutang over today.
After dinner, they chatted for a while. It was getting late, so Zhao Wenxian reluctantly sent Shen Chutang away. Since she married Shen Yanheng, this was the first time she had chatted with Shen Chutang like this. She felt a strong connection with her. No wonder she was so spoiled. Anyone who had met Shen Chutang couldn’t help but like her.
All the way home, Shen Chutang kept marveling at how amazing it was. This was the first time she had felt the arrival of a new life. Thinking about seeing the newborn baby in a few months, she felt both excited and thrilled.
Shi Chengyu held her hand, leaned back in his seat, and turned to look at her smiling face. He listened to her talk and smiled along.
In the few days before school started, Shen Chutang went to see Zhao Wenxian almost every day. As a result, Shi Chengyu and Shen Yanheng’s cars were often parked outside the door at the same time.
In the end, it was Shi Chengyu who told her to leave some of their precious time as a couple for her brother and sister-in-law. Only then did Shen Chutang stop going, but she still prepared things and had them delivered.
About the incident at the club, Shi Chengyu, not very gentlemanly, told Shen Yanheng about it. Shen Sichen was called over and scolded for a while. Shen Chutang stood aside, stifling her laughter, her cheeks flushed, her eyes giving Shi Chengyu a playful glare.
After school started, it was the second year of high school. Shen Chutang was both lamenting how slowly time went by and praying for it to pass quickly.
Her grades were already excellent. She consistently ranked first in all the big and small exams at school. The entrance exam was not only first place, but also a landslide victory, three points higher than the second place.
She still sat in the last row with Xie Tong. They occasionally listened to the lectures, and when class was over, they ate snacks and took naps together.
Zhao Wenxian’s belly was getting bigger. Although Shen Yanheng was currently in a crucial period of his career, he chose to take paternity leave and stay at home to accompany Zhao Wenxian.
Shen Sichen heard that he was dating Zhou Xingyang. Although it was a bumpy road, they finally ended up together, which was considered a happy ending.
Shen Sujing had already graduated from school and was fully immersed in the entertainment industry. He had gained considerable fame. Many people had dug into his background, saying that he had someone behind him. Some even spread rumors that he had a sugar daddy. He was angry for several days, and Shen Sichen teased him for several days.
Shen Chutang had never seen the girl on his phone wallpaper, but she had seen her countless times on TV and recognized her as a popular female star in the entertainment industry in recent years.
She heard that they had already collaborated several times. She didn’t know if Shen Sujing had confessed, but she guessed he hadn’t, because out of the four of them, Shen Sujing was the least daring.
During the National Day holiday, Shi Chengyu took Shen Chutang to Switzerland again. When Shen Chutang came back last time, she mentioned how she felt and said she was sorry she hadn’t been able to see those scenery with him.
He remembered it until now and accompanied her to revisit those attractions, making up for those regrets.
They didn’t return to China until the day before the holiday. However, as soon as they landed, Lin Shulang received a message from the public relations department asking him how to deal with the online issue.
He immediately opened Weibo, and the hot search “Shi’s CEO Suspected to be in Love, Sweet Trip to Switzerland” had already reached the top.
Most of the same-aged people in the circle already had partners, so some people turned their attention to Shi Chengyu and went crazy trying to dig up something.
This trip was a private trip. Someone recognized Shi Chengyu, took pictures and posted them online. The news was then bought by reporters. Of course, there were more than just those pictures, but Shen Chutang’s face was taboo, so only a back view was released.
The two of them looked down at the pictures on the camera. Shi Chengyu’s smile was clearly visible. Shen Chutang was wearing a beige windbreaker, her slightly curled hair was draped over her back, and some strands blown by the wind were draped over Shi Chengyu’s shoulder.
Netizens marveled at their compatibility. Some people even dug up Shen Chutang’s identity, even comparing the back view in Shen Sujing’s previous MV.
The situation was chaotic until later that night when a popular female star posted a picture. The same Switzerland IP, the same beige windbreaker, and the same slightly curled hair in the back view.
The internet exploded. By the time they got off the plane, the internet had already identified the popular female star as Shi Chengyu’s girlfriend.
Shen Chutang looked at the message Xie Tong sent and was completely confused. The girl’s back view was indeed very similar to hers, and even her profile looked a little similar. If they hadn’t already returned to China, she would have suspected that the single back view was hers.
Shi Chengyu’s face was very bad. He had the picture with Shen Chutang taken down. Although netizens didn’t know, if someone really wanted to dig, they could identify her based on the clothes and jewelry she was wearing.
