Chapter 41
Shen Chutang didn’t find out about the news until after school. The words online made her feel uncomfortable, and Shi Chengyu wasn’t there to pick her up today.
She sulked alone, sitting in the music room playing the piano.
When Shi Chengyu came back, he heard from the maid that she was in the music room. He went to find her. Faint piano music came from inside the door. Just listening, he knew she wasn’t happy.
He pushed the door open and waited for Shen Chutang to stop before sitting beside her. He asked softly, “My dear Tangtang, are you unhappy?”
Shen Chutang frowned. “Don’t call me that.” Like calling a child.
“Okay, I was wrong.” Shi Chengyu’s voice was doting. “Tangtang, are you unhappy because of the things online?”
Shen Chutang didn’t deny it. She just looked down at her fingers. Shi Chengyu took her hand and held it in his palm. “Tangtang, those things online are true and false, but I’m by your side, that’s real.”
His palm was warm, gently holding Shen Chutang’s hand. Shen Chutang looked up at him. “But I’m not happy to see those comments.”
Like how they have a lot of chemistry, how they look so good together…
Shi Chengyu rubbed her hand with a hint of heartache. “I made Tangtang feel wronged.”
“I’ll play the piano for Tangtang. After you’ve listened, will you accompany me to dinner?”
Shen Chutang nodded and sat obediently beside him.

Zhang Yueting didn’t know that her casual post would actually gain so much traffic. She was even more surprised that Huaxing reached out to her.
Even her agent asked her if she really had something to do with Shi’s. But things had already gone this far, how could she dare say she was just trying to gain attention? She could only vaguely say it was inconvenient to say and that she had to keep it a secret.
Things had been going on for a week. Zhang Yueting had already joined the crew of “Ask the Heavens.” Although she was only a supporting actress, it was already much better than before. The people on set were also polite to her.
“Yueting, your scenes are about to end. Now that you have something to do with Shi’s, you have to seize the opportunity.” Her agent had been nagging her for a whole day.
Seeing that the heat was fading, her agent started urging her. He was convinced that she had something to do with Shi’s. He didn’t care what the relationship was, as long as she could become popular and make money, that was enough for him.
Zhang Yueting replied impatiently, “I know, I know, don’t rush me.”
After saying that, she subconsciously froze, but her agent didn’t say anything. In the past, her agent would scold her. Now, just because she was slightly connected to Shi’s, she was treated differently.
She sneered in her heart. Power was indeed a good thing.
But what relationship did she have with Shi Chengyu? How could she be connected to him again?
Shen Chutang’s mood had improved over the past two days. On Saturday, she even came to pick up Shi Chengyu after work. As soon as she picked him up, she got in the car.
Shi Chengyu took the small cookies she brought and put them in his pocket solemnly. His gaze through the window suddenly caught something. He held Shen Chutang’s head and pulled her into his arms. “Shulang, go down and take care of it.”
“What?” Shen Chutang looked up in confusion.
Shi Chengyu stroked her neck. “It’s nothing, there’s something dirty.”
“Ah?”
Shen Chutang looked dazed. Shi Chengyu pinched her cheek and asked, “What do you want to eat tonight?”
“Let’s eat at home. I want to eat the tomato beef soup you make.”
Shen Chutang really didn’t dare to go out these days. She was scared.
“Okay, I’ll make it for you.” Shi Chengyu wanted to hold her in his arms, but he hesitated. He just held her shoulders.
Lin Shulang soon came back. “Mr. Shi, it’s taken care of.”
“Okay, let’s go.”
Lin Shulang also lamented how bold these paparazzi were. They even dared to follow them to the door of Shi’s. Fortunately, Shi Chengyu discovered it in time. Otherwise, if it was posted online, it would be a lot of trouble. If another Li Yueting or Liu Yueting came out, it would be really hard to handle.
The next day was the weekend. Lin Shulang thought he could have a good rest, but when he checked his phone early in the morning, the sky fell.
What was Zhang Yueting up to? What did she mean by being photographed appearing at Shi’s to pick up Shi Chengyu for work? So the paparazzi yesterday was called by her, and she accidentally caught the real thing?
The last time he let things ferment was Shi Chengyu’s order. He had other plans. But this time, the matter had already passed. She jumped out again, so recklessly. She really had no brains.
He was forced to work overtime. For the sake of five times the overtime pay, Lin Shulang got out of bed at nine o’clock and started dealing with it. Zhang Yueting’s value ended there. The “Ask the Heavens” crew changed actors, the company terminated the contract, the news online was also taken down, even her Weibo account was deleted. It was estimated that she wouldn’t have any waves in the entertainment industry in the future.
At ten o’clock, he made an appointment to meet Zhang Yueting.
Zhang Yueting was originally worried, thinking that she was finished. But she suddenly received a call from Lin Shulang, asking her to meet. After hanging up the phone, she cried with joy and quickly tidied herself up to go to the appointment.
Lin Shulang brought a contract. The meeting place was in an apartment. He pushed the contract towards Zhang Yueting. “Miss Zhang, take a look.”
“What’s this? Didn’t Mr. Shi come?”
Lin Shulang smiled faintly at her. “Miss Zhang, take a look first.”
Zhang Yueting flipped through the contract with trembling hands, but she couldn’t read a single word. The more she flipped, the more frightened she became. In the end, she frowned. “What’s this?”
“Are you going to block me?”
“Is it my fault that I look like that woman?”
This was not the kind of maintenance contract she had in mind. To put it nicely, it was an employment contract. To put it bluntly, it was a prisoner locked up here.
She signed it. She didn’t have to do anything, just stay here, like a pet. She didn’t even have the freedom to go out.
Lin Shulang smiled faintly. “It’s not your fault that you look like our young lady. But deliberately releasing misleading photos, deliberately going around Shi’s, and even finding paparazzi are your wrongdoings.”
This face was only three points similar to Shen Chutang, which was enough for her to have a place in the entertainment industry. But she chose the wrong path.
“Miss Zhang can choose not to sign. Of course, you can’t stay in Beijing anymore. Also, I have to remind you that our young lady has a special status, so you may encounter some danger. It’s written in the contract, please be aware.”
Zhang Yueting sneered, her heart filled with coldness. One million a month, just to raise a shield for that person. They were really willing to spend.
She suddenly felt a little envious. Indeed, people are born different. She wiped away the tears on her face and signed the contract neatly. Compared to money, what was freedom?
Lin Shulang didn’t expect her to be so straightforward. But the path was ultimately her own choice. He put away the contract. “Happy cooperation, Miss Zhang. Someone will help you move here later, and a nanny will come to take care of your daily life.”
Shen Chutang slept in late that morning. By the time she woke up, she couldn’t see any news. Of course, she didn’t know what had happened.
