Chapter 53
The next morning, Ji Man sent Shen Chutang a message, saying she was at the entrance of the community and couldn’t get in. Chen Musheng pushed and urged Shen Sujing to go pick her up.
Originally, only Shen Sujing was nervous. Now that he knew he hadn’t chased her yet, Chen Musheng’s heart was also up and down. She twisted Shen Gengli’s arm and complained, “It’s all your fault for having such a good son. He can’t even get a girlfriend.”
Shen Gengli smiled. “Yes, yes, yes, it’s my fault, it’s my fault. We’ll talk about it later. It’s not good to be seen by others when she comes.”
Shen Chutang held back her laughter, arranging the chamomile on the table. For today, she had spent a lot of money asking Xie Tong about Ji Man’s preferences.
“I’ll deal with you later.” Chen Musheng shook his hand, snorted, and walked to the door, looking out.
She saw two figures walking towards them from afar, one of them limping. Chen Musheng immediately ran back to the house. “Here they are, here they are.”
“Gengli, do I look okay in this outfit? Is there anything inappropriate?”
“You look great, very beautiful, very suitable.”
Shen Chutang was still stroking Zhao Wenxian’s belly. It was only a month away from her due date. Her belly was round and round, like she was carrying a watermelon, but it was soft. When she put her hand on it, she could feel the baby moving.
“Mom, you’re so nervous. Don’t scare her away later.”
“Oh my.” Chen Musheng sat down, trying to calm herself down. “I just can’t relax. You don’t know how I didn’t sleep a wink the night your brother brought Wenxian back.”
Zhao Wenxian smiled shyly. “Mom, it’s okay. Don’t worry. Xiaojing is a good person too. Let it be.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Shen Sujing had already brought Ji Man in. He took the gift from Ji Man’s hand and handed it to Uncle Wen. The maid came over and gave her new slippers.
Ji Man didn’t expect so many people in the house. She looked at them one by one, and she was almost shocked.
She knew Shen Sujing’s family was well-off, but she hadn’t expected it to be this good. If she had known this beforehand, she wouldn’t have come no matter what.
“Sister Ji Man! Come over here.”
Shen Chutang went over and took her arm, pulling her over. “Sister Ji Man, these are my parents, this is my brother and sister-in-law. My second brother is upstairs and hasn’t come down yet.”
“Hello, Uncle and Auntie. Hello, brother and sister-in-law.” Ji Man was still in shock and hadn’t recovered. Following Shen Chutang, she called out to her brother and sister-in-law.
She quickly wanted to correct herself, but Zhao Wenxian had already smiled and replied.
Chen Musheng, who was usually eloquent, was so nervous that she stuttered. “Your name is Ji Man, right? You’re so beautiful. Come sit here.”
Ji Man hadn’t heard such a greeting in a long time. She felt a little touched and relaxed. She sat down next to Chen Musheng. “Thank you, Auntie.”
“You’re welcome, you’re welcome. You should thank you for taking care of Xiaojing. I heard you’re his senior. You even took care of him when he was injured.”
Shen Sujing was finally remembered. He was still standing at the door, smiling helplessly. He limped over and sat down on the sofa opposite them.
“It’s nothing.” After all, Shen Sujing was injured because of her.
Ji Man smiled shyly. When no one was looking, she secretly glared at Shen Sujing. He didn’t tell her that his family was like this.
Her second brother was the CEO of Shen’s. Her brother was in the city government. Her father, she heard, was also a political figure in Su City. Shen Chutang had Shi’s behind her.
She was like a fool, carrying her things and coming here without any preparation.
Fortunately, the atmosphere was still good. Shen Yanheng’s attention was all on Zhao Wenxian. He was either bringing her tea or covering her with a blanket.
Chen Musheng chatted with her, all about everyday life. The atmosphere wasn’t awkward. As lunch time approached, the men went to cook, and the living room was left with just the women.
The conversation then became more lively and harmonious.
At dinner, Shen Chutang sat next to Ji Man and kept picking food for her. Ji Man usually ate very little to maintain her figure. Actually, she was a real foodie. Besides, this meal was made by Shen Sujing and the others. She might only be able to eat it once in her life.
After a meal, she was full, and her whole body and mind felt warm.
There was a thick carpet in the living room. Shen Chutang sat on it, leaning against the sofa, telling fairy tales. She said she wanted to do prenatal education for Zhao Wenxian’s baby.
Chen Musheng and Ji Man chatted, leaning against each other, their voices gentle. The warm atmosphere made people feel sleepy.
Shi Chengyu came in at this time. There was still some snow on his shoulders. He carefully held the scarf in his arms. He looked a little silly.
He went straight to Shen Chutang’s side and gently patted her shoulder. Shen Yanheng also came over. It turned out that Zhao Wenxian had fallen asleep.
Shen Chutang stood up. There were too many people on the sofa today. She pulled Shi Chengyu upstairs.
“Brother Chengyu, why did you come?” Shen Chutang asked him, holding his slightly cold hand.
Shi Chengyu said, “It’s snowing outside.”
I kind of miss you.
Shen Chutang was wearing a beige sweater today, her hair tied back. She looked obedient, soft, and warm.
Shi Chengyu looked at her with a bit of resentment. “Tangtang was so busy today.” She didn’t reply to his messages much.
Shen Chutang laughed and took two steps forward to hug him. “There were guests at home today. It was Sister Ji Man from my third brother’s birthday party.”
Shi Chengyu’s eyes darkened, and his hand froze for a moment. Seeing that she didn’t remember anything else, he felt relieved. He buried his head in her neck. The person in his arms was soft and fragrant, dispelling the chill on his body.
“Yes, so I came to find you.”
Shen Chutang was tickled by him and laughed, trying to push him away. But Shi Chengyu held her hand and pulled her closer. “Tangtang needs to compensate me.”
“Okay, okay. Then don’t talk, it’s too itchy.”
The person in his arms was giggling. Shi Chengyu felt a surge of sweetness in his heart. He obediently quieted down, just holding her tightly.
The snow outside was falling softly, quickly covering the ground in white, obscuring all the colors.
“Brother Chengyu, it’s so beautiful.”
“Yes, Tangtang is also beautiful.”
Shen Chutang burst out laughing. “Brother Chengyu, I said the snow scene outside is beautiful.”
“But Brother Chengyu is also beautiful.”
Shi Chengyu refused to raise his head, buried in her neck, as if he was shy. He rubbed his head against her twice, making Shen Chutang laugh again. Finally, she struggled to get out of his arms. She was too tired and was caught back in his arms by Shi Chengyu.
“Okay, stop messing around.”
Shen Chutang gasped. “I wasn’t messing around, you were.”
Shi Chengyu stroked her back to calm her down. “Okay, my fault. Did Tangtang not eat much at noon?”
Shen Chutang leaned against him, looking up at him. “Brother Chengyu, I just realized how tiring it is to pick dishes for people. Did you always work hard every time you picked dishes for me?”
“I didn’t feel it.” Shi Chengyu replied.
He just knew that every time he saw her obediently finish her meal, he was already happy and satisfied.
