Chapter 3: A Family of Bloodsuckers
Jiang Ning opened the door, and a woman with curly hair and black leather shoes stood outside, looking at her anxiously.
Good heavens, so fast, the original owner’s family of bloodsuckers had already come knocking?
Jiang Mei, the original owner’s second sister, breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Jiang Ning. Before Jiang Ning could speak, she quickly squeezed in and closed the door mysteriously.
Although the original owner was brainless and prone to making trouble, she was exceptionally kind to her family. Jiang Mei had married a factory manager, and her title alone was impressive enough to intimidate others. The Jiang family had often flattered the original owner to suck blood from her ex-husband.
This time, the small business that had caused the original owner to lose money and incur debt was initiated by Jiang Mei.
Out of the four Jiang siblings, Jiang Mei was the only one with a proper job. She had married two years ago, and her husband was a city dweller with good conditions. The job was arranged by her in-laws.
However, who would have thought that her younger sister, after causing such a scandal, would be lucky enough to marry a factory manager? Now, the whole family was showering her with attention, which made Jiang Mei secretly unhappy.
“Ningning, how are you and your husband doing these days? Have those people come looking for you?”
Jiang Mei put on a remorseful and guilty act, pulling Jiang Ning to sit on the sofa. “It’s all my fault. I wanted to make some extra money to help out the family, and I thought it would be a good opportunity for you to find some work. But it ended up dragging you down.”
The small business involved collecting jade and antique objects from the countryside and selling them to antique shops or underground buyers for a profit.
Jiang Mei’s colleague at the factory was involved in this line of work, and she wanted to join in secretly but was afraid of losing money. That’s when she thought of her younger sister.
They had entrusted someone to collect a small batch of goods, and the business had just opened when something went wrong and they were raided.
Fortunately, they were only investors and didn’t participate in the actual operation, so they weren’t arrested. They just lost all their money.
Of course, the majority of the money lost was Jiang Ning’s, and Jiang Mei only lost a portion.
But she still felt the pain! That’s why she came today.
She had to find a way to coax Jiang Ning into taking responsibility for the loss, so that the money wouldn’t be considered her own loss.
Knowing her second sister’s intentions, Jiang Ning could only say: 6.
Was she trying to exploit her?
Jiang Mei pretended to be self-reproaching for a long time, her mouth dry from talking. But Jiang Ning didn’t even offer her a glass of water!
Suppressing her dissatisfaction, she finally shifted the topic to her purpose:
“Xiao Ning, you know our family’s situation. I have a decent job, but I only get about thirty yuan a month after taxes. It’s nothing compared to you and your husband.”
“Since we lost money last time, my husband has been scolding me. I’m tight on cash lately and don’t dare ask him for expenses. Xiao Ning, I’m here to ask if you could spare me some money.”
“I don’t need much, just… I lost fifty yuan last time. That’s all I need for now.”
Jiang Mei finished in one breath, looking at her younger sister with pleading eyes.
Jiang Ning smiled slightly, without saying a word, she got up to pour a glass of water.
Jiang Mei thought this was a good sign, and with a smile on her face, she was about to reach for the glass. But Jiang Ning directly brought the cup to her own lips and sipped slowly.
“Sister, you lost fifty yuan, but I lost two hundred and fifty. Plus, I owe two hundred to the loan shark. I’m drowning in debt now.”
“We agreed back then that the extra money I put in was considered a loan to you. If we lost money, we would share the loss equally. You’re here at the right time. I was just about to ask you to repay the money!”
Jiang Ning leaned against the door, speaking bluntly without any hesitation.
It turned out that the original owner’s character was actually quite good. Wasn’t she supposed to be brainless, prone to making trouble and causing trouble? Then she could be brainless to anyone.
Hey, if you don’t pay back the money, don’t blame me for driving you crazy.
Jiang Mei was stunned, her voice rising: “What do you mean? What money do I owe you? Jiang Ning, you’re saying some hurtful things.”
Jiang Ning was also upset, she slammed the cup down and flared up: “I don’t care if you like it or not. Sisters should settle accounts clearly. That’s what you taught me!”
“Sister, let me tell you the truth. Old Lu is unhappy about the money I lost. He said if I can’t get it back, he’ll leave me.” Jiang Ning frowned, revealing her displeasure.
“I’ve lost a lot of money this time. You’re my sister, I won’t ask for much. You need to find a way to give me at least one hundred, otherwise I’m not going to let this go. I’ll go to your husband’s workplace and make a scene!”
Jiang Mei’s husband worked in the county statistics bureau and had a small position. If it was discovered that his wife was involved in shady business deals, it could affect his job.
Jiang Mei immediately stood up: “Jiang Ning, you dare! How can you do such a thing?”
Jiang Ning laughed, with a reckless attitude: “What am I afraid of? Sister, it’s all your fault. You insisted on dragging me into this business.”
Jiang Mei couldn’t do anything. On one hand, she was furious, thinking that this dead girl had changed her personality today and was so difficult to deal with. On the other hand, she endured her anger and resentment, gritting her teeth and taking out two bills from her bag.
“This is all I have, I don’t have any more. You can’t go to your brother-in-law’s workplace to cause trouble!”
Jiang Ning took the money and flicked it: “This isn’t enough. You’re trying to cheat me, sister.”
Jiang Mei had come to no avail and had even lost money. She wanted to slam the door and leave, but then she suddenly thought of something and coldly mentioned:
“Half of the goods haven’t been confiscated. They’re all at Su Chanzi’s place. He said he’ll find a chance to sell them for us. I don’t want those goods anymore, they’re all yours. They should be worth a hundred or eighty, right?”
“I’m scared of you. Who told you to be my sister? You take the goods, and we’ll be even. You keep your mouth shut at your brother-in-law’s place and don’t say a word.”
Jiang Ning was unhappy: “Sister, you really think I’m an idiot? I heard from them last time that those junk can only be sold for thirty or forty at most. They might not even find a buyer and we’ll be stuck with them. I don’t want them!”
Jiang Mei gritted her teeth and had to lower her voice: “Please, sister? I’m really tight on cash right now. Otherwise, why would I come to you?”
She pleaded for a while before Jiang Ning, out of family ties, reluctantly agreed to the deal.
Before Jiang Mei left, Jiang Ning called her back, feeling a little remorseful, she smiled and said softly:
“Hey, don’t let this ruin our sisterly relationship. I’m just in a bad mood today. Sister, don’t mind me. Okay, I agree to everything you said. Can you really cheat me?”
“I promise I won’t go to your brother-in-law’s place to cause trouble. If you don’t trust me, we can sign a note, stating that the money and goods are settled, and I’ll pay back my own debts. I guarantee that I won’t bother you anymore.”
Jiang Mei was worried about finding a buyer for those goods, so she naturally agreed. She hurriedly signed the note and left quickly, as if she were escaping a plague.
She realized that this younger sister was easy to coax, but she was also really stupid!
She was a complete fool, a one-track mind. Those goods were garbage. They had been damaged during the incident and were basically unsaleable.
Even though Jiang Mei had lost money, Jiang Ning hadn’t gained anything either. And from what she said, it seemed like Factory Manager Lu, was already tired of her. Jiang Mei felt a sense of balance and satisfaction.
After sending her sister off, Jiang Ning returned to her room, put away the note, and felt a surge of excitement.
When Jiang Mei mentioned the goods, her mind suddenly jolted, and a scene from the script popped up.
The name Su Chanzi was very familiar.
That’s right, he was a character in the script.
In the later part of the story, this man became a wealthy antique dealer by collecting and finding bargains.
Coincidentally, Jiang Ning was a nameless and faceless 19th-tier actress, but her family was a long-established dealer in antiques and jewelry.
If you’re not doing well outside, you should go back and inherit the family business. This statement perfectly fit Jiang Ning.
Although she didn’t handle the family business, she had been exposed to it since childhood and could tell the difference between ordinary objects.
When Jiang Mei mentioned Su Chanzi, Jiang Ning had an epiphany.
She had to have those goods, and they had to be hers alone. She had to find a way to connect with Su Chanzi.
She really had to thank her good second sister. She had been thinking about what to do to make money to make ends meet, and she had delivered it to her doorstep.
