That day, Lil was studying with a book in hand. The topic was magic.
“Hey, is it true that all divine beasts can use magic?”
‘Yes, it’s true. Remember, the bear used it before.’
As Kohaku said, it was indeed used when creating the playground.
“Do divine beasts also ask spirits for help?”
‘Of course! Spirits govern magic, after all.’
According to Marron, managing magic was the spirits’ duty. Lil found it impressive how hardworking they were, considering magic was used all over the world.
Lil had just recently gained control over her magical power and was finally granted permission to use magic on her own. She wanted to try out all kinds of spells.
She flipped through the book, looking at the listed spells.
They were all attack spells. Practicing those would be boring.
“Alright! Today, I’ll have fun with magic!”
Declaring her intent, Lil headed outside. The divine beasts, who had been playing on the playground, gathered around her.
“I’m going to practice magic today!”
‘What kind of magic?’
A rabbit tilted its head.
Lil thought about the safest magic to practice. Water magic seemed like the best choice.
“I’m going to practice water magic!”
She made her way to the water area she had created the other day. Here, even if she failed, everything would just get wet, which wasn’t a big deal.
Her first goal was to create a water ball that everyone could play with.
Imagining a membrane forming around the water, she asked the spirits for assistance.
A water ball floated perfectly in the bathing area.
A raccoon, who had been bathing, touched the ball. It popped instantly and disappeared.
‘It broke! I’m sorry!’
The raccoon panicked and apologized, but Lil just laughed, saying it was only practice.
However, this wouldn’t work for playing. The ball needed to be stronger so it wouldn’t break upon contact.
Lil searched her Memory of Michiru for ideas.
She recalled a science experiment where she had made slime.
Lil tried again, this time imagining the water turning into a slime-like consistency.
But instead of forming a ball, the entire water area transformed into a slimy substance.
The raccoon started to sink, and Lil quickly pulled it out.
Despite the mishap, everyone was fascinated by the new texture. They excitedly dipped their paws into the slime, making joyful noises.
A tiger even put some in its mouth to taste it. When Lil asked if it was good, the tiger simply said it was just water. Of course, it was.
Lil still wanted to create a playable ball.
Even if this was fun, it wasn’t what she had intended.
She tried again, this time imagining the slime being solidified like a water-filled dumpling.
A lump of something floated in the water.
Lil picked it up. It had a wonderfully soft texture.
It was a success!
She had finally created the soft water ball she wanted.
Lil threw the ball, and Kohaku ran after it.
After catching the ball, Kohaku exclaimed,
‘This feels amazing!’
The others quickly gathered to touch it.
‘You’re right!’
‘I want one for my bed!’
Everyone stared at Lil expectantly.
‘Make more!’
‘Please!’
Lil couldn’t resist their cuteness.
Using magic repeatedly, she mass-produced the slime balls. Even the tigers wanted some, making it quite a task.
By the time she finished, everyone had settled down on their slime ball beds.
Seeing no other choice, Lil laid down on one herself.
It was irresistibly comfortable.
Exhausted from making so many slime balls, Lil drifted off to sleep.
“Commander… what is that?”
The knights returning from patrol tilted their heads at the strange sight.
They recognized Lil and the divine beasts sleeping, but they had no idea what they were lying on.
When Ian asked Martin, who was on watch duty today, he replied that he didn’t know.
After Lil left to practice magic outside, he hadn’t checked on her.
Louis sniffed the mysterious material and tilted his head.
Ian, gathering his resolve, reached out and touched it.
It felt unbelievably pleasant.
But he had never encountered such a material before.
“She did say she was going to practice magic. Maybe she created this with magic?”
Gloria touched the slime ball as well.
“I think the material is water. She must have changed its form and solidified it…”
Ian couldn’t help but wonder—was Lil a genius?
Creating an entirely new form of magic was no simple feat.
And yet, she had done it shortly after learning magic.
Ian was deeply moved by his daughter’s talent.
Gloria, too, was impressed by her disciple’s abilities. Thinking back, Lil had been exceptional from the very beginning.
As they stood there, Lil slowly woke up.
She looked around in surprise at the gathered knights.
“What’s wrong, everyone?”
She asked curiously.
“We were wondering what you and the divine beasts were sleeping on.”
“Oh, I made this with magic! Isn’t it amazing?”
Lil grinned innocently.
Ian gently patted her head in praise.
After that day, the slime balls became incredibly popular among the divine beasts.
Lil ended up making them many times.
She thought to herself,
As long as everyone can sleep comfortably, I’ll make as many as needed.
