Chapter 47: The County Magistrate’s Secretary Arrives
The two of them ran back to the commune, one after the other.
From a distance, they saw a crowd of people blocking the entrance, all familiar faces.
Secretary Zhang couldn’t believe it. Hadn’t he given them a heads-up? The brigades below had all come to participate in the lecture without exception. How did Jiang An’an manage to do that?
“You wouldn’t have done something else under my name, would you?” Chen Xingtong looked at his increasingly ugly complexion and couldn’t help but clench his fist.
Secretary Zhang hurriedly lowered his head, stammering, “No, nothing.”
Chen Xingtong’s chest heaved violently, his head buzzing.
Nothing, my foot!
He must have done a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
A good-for-nothing who can’t do anything right, I’ll find a chance to transfer him out later.
Facing Chen Xingtong, the brigade leaders avoided his gaze, obviously afraid that he would hold them accountable.
“…” Chen Xingtong was wronged, but he couldn’t help but glare at the culprit.
Luo Jiawang stepped forward cheerfully, “Director Chen, the commune’s event is of great significance, and our brigades below will fully support it.”
Chen Xingtong took his cue and went down the stairs, smiling, “Legal education is very important, you all need to take good notes so that you can do a good job of publicizing it to the commune members below.”
Everyone looked at each other.
Director Chen’s attitude suddenly changed dramatically, no matter what, it finally made the brigade leaders feel relieved. On the one hand, there was the county, the commune secretary, and the Public Security Bureau, on the other hand, there was the old director they trusted and respected, finally they didn’t have to be forced to take sides.
This matter could be blamed on Luo Jiawang, if he hadn’t gone to the various brigades to brag and boast about how wonderful the evening party would be, the commune members below wouldn’t have been stirred up, making a fuss every day, and they wouldn’t have risked offending Director Chen to attend the lecture.
Now this culprit was still acting cute and charming in front of Director Chen, pfft, shameless.
Luo Jiawang waved his hand, “Everyone, make way, let Director Chen go in first, so as not to delay the business.”
Chen Xingtong always had a soft spot for cadres who knew how to get things done, as he walked in, he asked, “Which brigade are you from?”
“Nanxi Brigade.” Luo Jiawang straightened his back, “Jiang An’an is from our brigade.”
Chen Xingtong’s raised lips instantly flattened: “…”
The group walked towards the auditorium.
On both sides of the entrance stood two pretty girls, one responsible for distributing documents and cards, the other responsible for stamping the cards and signing them in.
Two stamps are required to be eligible to participate in the evening party, and the second half of the card is left blank, specifically for the results of legal education propaganda, divided into four levels: failing, passing, good, and excellent.
After the lecture, the commune will organize a legal education inspection team to go to the countryside to examine the results of each brigade. The lowest level will not be punished, but only the best teams will be eligible to compete for the advanced brigade at the end of the year.
In other words, another rule has been added to the original one.
The brigade leaders were as if they had been injected with chicken blood, each one enthusiastic.
Seeing this, Chen Xingtong had to admit that Jiang An’an was indeed a talent.
The scene was crowded and noisy, the young intellectuals who were drafted as temporary workers were unfamiliar and young, and it was difficult to manage the order, so Chen Xingtong instructed the secretaries below to help, which was also a way of making amends.
Seven fifty.
The county cadre team led by Gao Xiuhua arrived at the commune, in addition to all the cadres of the Women’s Federation, there was also Secretary Jin, who was attending the lecture on behalf of the county magistrate.
“How is this possible?” Secretary Zhang’s forehead was covered in cold sweat. At first, he thought Jiang An’an was just trying to attract attention, so he dared to make a small move.
Who would have thought she would make such a big fuss?
Secretary Jin, that was the person closest to the county magistrate, he was the representative of the county magistrate himself!
“Secretary Jin, Director Gao, welcome to the Red Flag Commune for inspection and guidance.”
Secretary Yang and Chen Xingtong welcomed them with open arms, no matter how much they disagreed internally, they were a tacit team externally. The two of them sang in unison, first leading everyone to tour the commune, introducing various major events of the year.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they led everyone to the auditorium.
Jiang An’an was confirming the final meeting procedures and manuscripts, holding a lecture involved many aspects, she was busy as a bee.
“An’an, come over here and meet Secretary Jin.” Gao Xiuhua stood at the door and waved to her.
Jiang An’an asked Yang Qing to take her place temporarily, straightened her clothes and went forward, raising the corners of her lips, “Thank you leaders for taking the time out of your busy schedules to attend the lecture, we will carefully listen to the leaders’ suggestions and constantly improve our work level.”
Looking at her speaking skills, she was like an old hand who had been in the officialdom for many years, Secretary Jin couldn’t help but take a serious look at the little girl with a sincere face.
No wonder Gao Xiuhua specially asked for an internship quota, the little girl was born for the officialdom.
He raised his glasses, “The county magistrate regrets that he has other important matters to attend to, but he personally praised the Red Flag Commune for taking the initiative to hold a legal education lecture, which is of great significance and a good thing to serve the masses.”
What?
The county magistrate actually praised the Red Flag Commune personally!
Chen Xingtong and Secretary Yang couldn’t help but straighten their chests, their faces were wrinkled with smiles.
Jiang An’an’s eyes became even more sincere, her cheeks flushed, as if she were extremely excited: “It is all thanks to the wise leadership of the county magistrate and all the leaders that the commune members below dare to think and dare to do, working together to build a better and more civilized Yunzhou County.”
The flattery was so well-placed that all the leaders couldn’t help but curl their lips.
Gao Xiuhua secretly gave her a thumbs up.
“The seats have been arranged, please take your seats, leaders.” Jiang An’an gestured for them to sit down, and the leaders took their seats in the first row.
Eight o’clock sharp.
The lecture officially began.
“Didn’t someone say that reporters would come?” Secretary Zhang stood with his hands in his sleeves, his tone gloating, “Even Secretary Jin was fooled, let’s see how she’ll handle this later?”
Secretary Gao tried to smooth things over, “Say less, it’s already a great honor for Secretary Jin to come to our commune.”
Words were wasted on the deaf, Secretary Zhang rolled his eyes, eager to slap her in the face.
He sneaked into the lecture hall, found Jiang An’an who was buried in writing, and deliberately asked, “The lecture has already started, when will the reporter come, can you give me a definite answer?”
His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, and those nearby turned their heads to look.
Including Secretary Jin and the others.
Chen Xingtong glared at Secretary Zhang with gritted teeth, his eyes could kill. What was this idiot trying to do? In front of Secretary Jin, did he think he was slapping Jiang An’an’s face? No! It was the face of the Red Flag Commune!
Jiang An’an said righteously, “Although the reporter is not here, as long as there is a pen, everyone can write. I have already arranged for the young intellectuals present to record the manuscripts, and they will be submitted together later, there will definitely be one manuscript that will be selected.”
Whether it was the subject matter, the content, or the signboard of Secretary Jin, there was no reason for the local newspaper not to choose it.
Secretary Zhang opened his mouth to say something else, but Chen Xingtong impatiently waved his hand, warning, “Secretary Zhang, aren’t you going to get busy?”
He jumped, left dejectedly, still full of resentment.
