As soon as Lu Youze stepped out of the hotel, a car stopped in front of him.
“Young Master.” Lu Bo got out of the car and opened the door for Lu Youze. “The Old Master asked me to pick you up.”
“Thank you, Lu Bo.”
After Lu Youze got into the car, it quickly left the hotel.
As the family butler, Lu Bo was a trusted confidant of the Old Master, holding a significant position in the Lu family and only taking orders from the Old Master. A job like driving was typically not something he would do.
Lu Youze looked at the back of Lu Bo’s head, the corners of his mouth lifting. “Dad is really too cautious.”
Although he said that, Lu Youze still felt a warmth in his heart. The feeling of being cared for by family was really nice. He was once again grateful that he had taken the place of the original character, Lu Youze, and survived. The things that the original character didn’t care about, he would now protect and cherish.
But since his father cared so much, it also meant that “that guy” was indeed no ordinary person. He couldn’t let his guard down.
Lu Bo drove seriously, not looking away, and as someone who had watched Lu Youze grow up and had followed Lu Lihai for a long time, he was happy to see the father and son reconcile.
“Young Master, the Old Master is worried about you.”
“I know.” Lu Youze smiled, his mood still quite good, and his tone light. “Lu Bo, you and Dad are both too nervous.”
As he spoke, he suddenly remembered something and took out his phone to send a WeChat message.
Lu Bo’s expression turned serious. After a moment of thought, he spoke: “Young Master, you might not remember everything, but I’ve had a few dealings with the eldest young master of the Gu family. He’s a very dangerous person.”
Hearing Lu Bo’s words, Lu Youze remembered Gu Xuanze’s expression from earlier. His gaze shifted, but his outward appearance remained nonchalant. “Lu Bo, you know the eldest young master of the Gu family? Can you tell me what kind of person he is?”
“He’s the kind of guy who smiles while cutting someone’s throat…”
Before Lu Bo could finish, Lu Youze’s phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and then apologized to Lu Bo: “Lu Bo, I need to take this call.”
Lu Bo understood and didn’t speak further.
Lu Youze talked on the phone for less than a minute. After hanging up, he gave Lu Bo an address. “Lu Bo, before we head home, could we stop here? I want to introduce someone to you.”
Lu Youze smiled. “They say he has one of the best intelligence networks. I think it will be very helpful for your investigation later.”
“The Ye family?” Lu Bo asked in surprise, clearly impressed that Young Master finally understood the importance of connections. Thinking back to when Young Master had almost offended everyone over a single issue with Yu Li, and now seeing him use his connections, Lu Bo felt somewhat relieved.
“Yeah, he’s a very cute kid.”
Although Ye You had a special background, and Gu Xuanze had said he wasn’t as innocent as he seemed, Lu Youze still had a good impression of his little fan. Ye You had helped him a lot, and this time with the video, Lu Youze was sure he could be trusted.
If Ye You could help with the investigation that the Old Master had asked him to do, things might be more convenient, which is why Lu Youze had messaged him earlier to see if he was available to meet. To his surprise, Ye You had agreed immediately, and the meeting place was relatively close.
Ye You had arranged to meet at a café, a place with an excellent environment yet very secluded. Generally, no one could find it. There were only a few staff members inside and no other customers. As Lu Youze walked into the café, he couldn’t help but wonder: Would a café here really make money?
“Lu Ge, over here.”
As soon as Lu Youze and Lu Bo entered the café, Ye You waved at him excitedly, looking like a fan meeting his idol.
The staff seemed professionally trained. Even though they were serving a superstar like Lu Youze, they didn’t act out of line, treating him like any other guest.
This made Lu Youze feel more at ease, though he still had some concerns.
Once the coffee was served, of course, Lu Youze’s cup contained milk. The staff returned to their positions, and no one stared at them out of curiosity or gossip.
This allowed them to talk without worrying about eavesdropping.
Lu Youze sat across from Ye You, while Lu Bo stood beside him, his tall, Alpha presence making him stand out.
Lu Bo nodded respectfully at Ye You. “Good evening, Young Master Ye.”
Ye You responded with a smile.
Although Lu Youze had offered for Lu Bo to sit beside him, he had refused. Lu Youze understood the reasoning and didn’t insist.
Ye You also understood. It was a good thing for an idol to have such loyal subordinates around him.
“Xiao You, sorry for dragging you out at this time,” Lu Youze flashed a perfect smile at his little fan. “Next time, if you want an interview, I promise to cooperate.”
“Really?” Ye You’s eyes lit up. “Then, Lu Ge, I want a special reward. Will you fulfill it?”
Seeing Lu Youze looking at him in surprise, Ye You quickly explained, “Lu Ge, I promise it’s not a weird request.”
Lu Youze smiled. “Xiao You, don’t be nervous. I never thought you were that kind of person.”
He then raised his hand and gently patted Ye You’s head, leaning in closer. “I promise!”
Afterward, he sat back down, extended his finger, and jokingly said, “Do you need to pinky swear?”
Being patted on the head by his idol, up close to admire the handsome face, and having his wish promised, Ye You felt like he had achieved everything. He could brag about it to his fan group for a whole year.
Ye You’s excited face turned slightly red. He felt more motivated than ever.
“Brother Lu is so nice; those who want to stab him in the back won’t get away with it.”
Lu Bo silently observed Ye You, noticing how the young man was captivated by Lu Youze’s charm. He felt there was no need to worry. Although he was old, his eyes were still sharp, and it was clear that Ye You truly liked the young master.
With the Lu family’s young master now surrounded by the president of the Gu family and now the son of the Ye family, it seemed there was no need for this old man to worry. He couldn’t help but feel that, after Lu Youze lost his memory, more and more people were showing him kindness.
Thinking this, Lu Bo’s gaze softened as he looked at Lu Youze.
“Oh, right.” Lu Youze seemed to remember the purpose of his visit. He stood next to Lu Bo, grabbing his arm, and turned to Ye You. “Xiao You, this is Lu Bo. I’ve asked him to investigate something, so if anything comes up that might inconvenience you, please don’t hesitate to ask for his help.”
“Young Master Ye, please take care of him in the future,” Lu Youze finished, and then Lu Bo politely addressed Ye You.
“It’s no trouble at all, not at all,” Ye You responded, standing up. “I’m happy to help anything related to Brother Lu. Lu Bo, please add me on WeChat, and if you need anything, feel free to ask.”
“Thank you, Young Master Ye.”
After Lu Bo and Ye You exchanged WeChat contacts, Lu Youze chatted with Ye You for a while about the TV shows and movies they had worked on. They seemed to have similar views and opinions, and their relationship grew a little closer.
While they were talking, a short-haired staff member from the café walked past them, seemingly having spoken to a colleague before heading toward the restroom. To get to the restroom, she had to walk by their table. As the short-haired girl passed, Ye You suddenly seemed to remember something and spoke up. “Brother Lu, if you’re done watching the hotel’s surveillance footage, could you give it to me? I could use it.”
Lu Youze was initially puzzled by Ye You’s sudden mention of this topic, but quickly realized what was happening. He replied, “I’ve got the USB drive in my hotel room. If you’re not in a hurry, I can give it to you tomorrow.”
“It’s not urgent, Brother Lu, just whenever you have time.”
The short-haired girl didn’t stay long in the restroom. When she came out, she resumed her work without any unusual behavior. However, Lu Youze chose to trust Ye You and didn’t ask any more questions. The two continued their conversation as if nothing had happened. After chatting for a while, Lu Youze took his leave.
Ye You watched Lu Youze’s tall, confident figure leave and couldn’t help but smile happily. His idol trusted him so much—he would never disappoint him.
